Miami Heat forward Jaime Jaquez Jr. was selected to the 2024 Rising Stars Game for All-Star weekend, the NBA announced Tuesday.

The 6-foot-7 forward, who was named the Rookie of the Month for November/December and January, was one of 11 rookies to be selected for the event. He’s the 11th Heat player ever to receive the nod, joining Tyler Herro, Precious Achiuwa, Kendrick Nunn, Norris Cole, Michael Beasley, Dwyane Wade, Udonis Haslem, Caron Butler, Kurt Thomas and Khalid Reeves.

He is averaging 13.5 points, 3.8 rebounds. 2.7 assists and 1.1 steals, shooting 50.5 percent from the floor, 34.4 percent from 3-point range and 83.7 percent from the free-throw line. He leads rookies in steals per game, is second in free-throw percentage and the top-10 in scoring, field goals, field goal percentage and assists.

He’s been invaluable to a Heat offense that’s largely struggled this season–especially when he hasn’t been on the court. Jaquez is one of the Heat’s best cutters and off-ball movers, while also possessing elite footwork inside the arc.

In addition to the rookies, the Rising Stars game will also feature sophomores plus NBA-G-League players–including Sioux Falls Skyforce wing Alondes Williams–who will make up four seven-player teams. Here is the full rookie player pool:

  • Bilal Coulibaly, Washington Wizards
  • Keyonte George, Utah Jazz
  • Jordan Hawkins, New Orleans Pelicans
  • Scoot Henderson, Portland Trail Blazers
  • Chet Holmgren, Oklahoma City Thunder
  • Jaime Jaquez Jr., Miami Heat
  • Dereck Lively II, Dallas Mavericks
  • Brandon Miller, Charlotte Hornets
  • Brandin Podziemski, Golden State Warriors
  • Cason Wallace, Thunder
  • Victor Wembanyama, San Antonio Spurs

The Rising Stars teams will be drafted on Tuesday, Feb. 6, and the four-team tournament will be on Friday, Feb. 16 at 9:00 p.m. EST.

Glad he got honored. He deserves it.

Is it just me or do photos of Jaime always look like they’re airbrushed? How is that his real complexion?

Reality Czech

Many different complexions with people of Mexican descent. He’s second or third generation. If you look him up on Wikipedia, he looks the same there too.

Reality Czech

A wacky, yet brilliant in its way, album.
