Looking ahead to the play-in round, it could be Heat vs 76ers with a healthy Embiid back. The loser would probably face an improving Bulls team (now only 2 games under .500) with a couple of imposing big men/rebounders. It might be a very short postseason if things don’t improve soon for the Heat.
76ers expect Embiid back on the floor in two to three weeks, just in time for playoffs.

whoooooaaaaa! easy buddy! this team went to the Finals last year. They’re dealing with a lot of injuries. They’re not trading Jimmy Herro and Bam because they split the series with the Pelicans.
Mira. I get it. They’ve looked crappy for the past couple weeks. They might not give us a playoff run this season. Someone might get traded this offseason.
But if someone gets traded this offseason, it will be sad and we’ll miss that player and we’ll tell stories of them in the Conference Finals.
So let’s enjoy this run while it lasts. We can worry about trades after the playoffs.

It may not be a great team, but we would have some picks too. The truth is, no matter what we do this off season, we are not going to be as close to a championship going into 2025 without the Playoff Jimmy from 2023. We still have to make the best moves possible. This off season may become as close as Pat comes to a rebuild.

Glad for the differing opinions. It has made it fun this year. Everyone has a right and everyone gives their reasons. So, keep it up even when we don’t agree. I think last night was emotional for us all. To me, it was the end of an era. It was shoved in our face that this team is likely not going to get Jimmy a ring.,And that hurts. So forgive us all for some of our anguish showing in our comments.
Well anyone is entitled to an opinion. Even an early one. Whatever Riley does we don’t have any choice but swallow his cooking. Or root for another team
Exactly. Pat will endure, which is about all we can know right now. It’s going to be one of the more interesting off seasons in a while.
I like it. It’s just an example but it is a decent estimate of what kind of trade value our players have. Of course, we could go even more rebuildy and try to accumulate picks. But, knowing Pat, that’s not likely.
Kind of early to tell what players may be available in trade, free agency, sign and trade, etc.
However, if it was me, I would consider trading Butler and Herro and signing and trading Caleb. At minimum, I would keep a core of Bam, Rozier, Duncan, Jovic, Jaquez, veterans on one year contracts (such as Love and Richardson), plus younger players with potential on minimum and two-way contracts (such as Swider, Williams, Robinson, Cain). Miami should be able to get a good haul of players and draft picks for Butler, Herro and Martin.
Props to the Pelicans. That’s the first team I’ve seen “Out-Heat the Heat” since the Ja Morant Grizzlies. That was a defensive masterpiece.
also, the Heat should just tell Caleb, Jamie, and Rozier that they’re not allowed to shoot three’s. Take it to the rim or pass the ball. That was a bricklayers convention out there

When you have 9 fouls the whole game, you know the effort wasn’t there. Sometimes they come out playing like they just don’t GAF! Yes, I had that correct. And, I was right about Kyle (he was terrible for so long, took all our money too). And Rozier, turns out he is a good third option. And JJJ, yes, he has hit a wall, but he is a good nba player. And Jovic, he is young but has a very long way to go to be a player. Happy with Dunc too, think overall he is the one to keep over Ty, who I would trade, but only after he gets healthy so as not to sell low. JRich should come back, he surprised me positively. And Caleb, he sucks now, but I find it hard to give up on him unless he doesn’t want to stay. I still think Bam is a centerpiece and just needs a supporting cast.

I felt bad on two levels. One, I like to keep hope alive. And two, fandom is a wonderful distraction no matter how much of an illusion it can be. I felt like a Debbie Downer ( whaaa, whaaa). But, I think it is very important to be honest here too, even if it is an opinion you don.’t want to hear.

He doesn’t have a big near him. If he did we could definitely build around him. I guess no one thought it would matter but it did. The pick up of Rozier was very good. But, we were so deficient, that we needed that second player, a two way big. We only half fixed our problems. That is the story of this season.

It is time to give up on this, it’s not premature, just reality. Everyone should stop making excuses for all the deficiencies. And trade Jovic and Herro, get what you can for them and get real two way players.

The way I explain it is he is at 90-95% of his prime now, still a valuable last piece for some up and coming team. The Kings or OKC, someone like that. Maybe even Philly or a healthier Chicago. But, he no longer fits here as we don’t have enough to surround him. He should not be resigned

True. You’re the one on fire. Ty and Dunc hurt more than help only when out there together. Alone, each does more to help than hurt. But, Ty is fragile. And Dunc overall is a tiny bit more effective even if he shoulders less load. But, we should not keep both so I say trade Ty as he will bring more, maybe even a first. Ty is a good player that put with the right team, will do well.
