Jimmy Butler’s ‘Big Face Coffee’ gets great review from New York Times

What some thought turned into a funny gimmick inside the NBA’s infamous bubble during the fall of 2020 really turned into an obsession and ever-growing business for Miami Heat star forward Jimmy Butler.

Four years ago, Butler launched “Big Face Coffee,” which began with him selling cups of coffee at $20 a pop in the bubble. Now, the operation is a legitimate business–which officially launched in 2021–and even got some superb and reputable reviews amongst other celebrity coffee entrepreneurs.

In an article published by the New York Times earlier this month, Big Face Coffee earned the highest rating of the seven celebrity coffee brews–which features celebrities such as Tom Hanks, The Weeknd, Mick Fleetwood, Emma Chamberlain and Rudy Giuliani. The article’s author, Priya Krishna, wasn’t very pleased with many of the other brews–outside of Butler’s.

“Most of these coffees were forgettable, with some providing only a vague connection to the star behind them,” Krishna wrote. “Coffee may be an everyday habit, but making a truly memorable brew is a highly technical process. Perhaps this is a business best left to experts. And Jimmy Butler.”

According to the article, Butler said the source of coffee came from “some of the best farms worldwide.” Here were some of the quotes that Krishna got from a few of the anonymous tasters of Big Face Coffee, which earned a perfect 5 stars:

  • ā€œAwesome.ā€
  • ā€œI would drink this happily.ā€
  • ā€œJuicy.ā€
  • ā€œSmooth.ā€
  • ā€œWould pay $30.ā€

Krishna’s final thoughts of Big Face Coffee were, “Would have joined theĀ 2020 N.B.A. bubble just to enjoy this coffee regularly.” Wow! That must be saying something, considering that the bubble was an unenjoyable presence for the majority of individuals away from their families and isolated in, you know, a bubble.

The Heat star will be entering his 14th NBA season–sixth with Miami–coming off a season-ending sprained MCL injury suffered in their play-in game against Philadelphia. Butler is two years removed from finishing top-10 in MVP voting and a second-team All-NBA honor, when he averaged 22.9 points, 5.9 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 1.8 steals per game on 64.7 percent true shooting.

I’m a coffee person but had to do just one cup a day for health reasons (2 cups on cheat day hehe). I’d love to try Big Face Coffee! Will try to reach out to Jimmy and ask for a franchise lol

Give credit where credit is due. Jimmy has many options after his playing days are over. What I’m concerned about right now is whether “Playoff Jimmy” shows up this season. If he gets back to that level, anything is possible. If he doesn’t, anything is also possible. One way or another, we are in for interesting times.

GO HEAT!!!

I think Jimmy started side businesses a bit too soon, and his main one, which is playing good basketball, suffer a bit because of that.

So this is actually a bad news.
