By now, you have probably heard that the NBA released the 2024-25 regular season schedule Thursday, with the Miami Heat set to open against the Orlando Magic on Oct. 23 at 7:30 p.m. EST.

In light of the schedule release, the Phoenix Suns social media page shared light-hearted memes of the other 29 teams and depictions of their fanbases. Let’s just say the Heat social media team wasn’t having any part of it.

For Miami’s, Phoenix shared a photo of empty seats, poking fun at the notion that Heat fans don’t show up to games.

The Heat’s page was quick to return the favor, sharing photos of ESPN’s 2023-24 attendance report, which shows the Heat with the fourth-highest attendance rate to Phoenix’s No. 25 ranking.

“Interesting. Check in when you climb into that 24th spot, @Suns,” Miami’s social media caption read with the screenshot below.

It was a witty, comical response to an otherwise funny meme. In the Suns’ defense, they were one of 12 NBA teams to sell out every home game last season, with Miami included in that bunch.

Though the narrative that Heat fans don’t go to games or don’t show up is quite silly, even though that’s only applicable to the start of games. Miami holds the second-longest active streak–the fifth-longest-ever–of sell-outs (596), including the postseason. Not to mention, there’s only one real way to arrive at the arena. Miami traffic is real, folks!

The Heat will visit Footprint Center on Wednesday, Nov. 6, the first game of a grueling six-game road trip. Phoenix won’t play inside Kaseya Center until Saturday, Dec. 7. Miami is 32-39 all-time against Phoenix, including losses in six of their last nine meetings.
