Williams, 26, is the third player that the Heat have signed to an Exhibit 10 contract this offseason, the other two being guards Isaiah Stevens and Zyon Pullin. With 14 players on standard contracts, three two-way contracts filled plus three Exhibit 10 contracts, the Heat have 20 total players on roster ahead of training camp, one short of the league minimum.
Williams was called up late last season by the Toronto Raptors, where he signed two 10-day contracts. In 107 total minutes across seven games, he tallied 19 points, 38 rebounds (15 offensive), two assists, three steals and four blocks, making nine of his 34 shots (26.5 percent).
In 42 combined regular season plus showcase games with the Sioux Falls Skyforce (Heat G-League affiliate) last season, Williams averaged 10.1 points, 8.0 rebounds and 1.3 blocks in 21.5 minutes per game. He shot 42.6 percent from the floor, including 31.1 percent from 3-point range and 68.4 percent from the free-throw line.
Williams totaled 12 double-doubles last season, including hauling down 21 rebounds (with 11 points) on Feb. 13 against the Oklahoma City Blue, the OKC Thunder’s G-League affiliate. His 21 boards–including nine offensive–were tied for the seventh-most for any G-League player in a single game last season.
