Hanifan’s Take: After five years, Paul George left in free agency to head to the Philadelphia 76ers on a four-year max after negotiations with Los Angeles turned sour. If true: the Clippers really offered two years, $60 million initially? Yikes! Both George and Leonard had trouble staying healthy throughout their Clipper tenure together. George only appeared in 70 percent of his team’s games just twice–one time being last season, when he played in 74 of the team’s 82 games. Financially, the Clippers were in a difficult situation given their tax bill, though letting him walk for nothing after Golden State nearly completed a trade wasn’t wise. Nicolas Batum or Derrick Jones Jr. were fine adds; the latter was very impactful down the stretch for Dallas. While the Clippers have financial flexibility for the future–which is important–I still think their teetering around mediocrity. Extend Terance Mann!
