Hanifan’s Take: Phoenix entered the offseason hamstrung with what it could do financially over the second apron. That said, it did a great job adding integral rotation pieces. The Suns snagged both Tyus Jones and Monte Morris on minimum contracts, alleviating pressure off Devin Booker’s (and Bradley Beal’s) shoulders as primary facilitators. Jones and Morris were two of the best pure point guards on the market entering the offseason, and Phoenix wound up with both. Jones graded in the 84th percentile in assist percentage and 95th in turnover percentage last year, per Cleaning The Glass; Morris has graded in the 95th percentile or better in each of his previous six seasons in turnover while grading in the 75th percentile or better in assist-to-usage percentage. They have two elite guards there. They also upgraded their backup center position with Plumlee over Eubanks. The Suns re-signed O’Neale and Okogie and drafted one of the best defenders in the draft in Ryan Dunn, who complements this squad perfectly. Ighodaro was another great get toward the middle of the second round and I love how they got Jalen Bridges as an UDFA; that could be a steal. All in all, this was a great offseason for Phoenix, given the circumstances.
