The Miami Heat have announced that the NBA has named Tyler Herro as the Eastern Conference Player of the Week for games played between Monday, December 2, and Sunday, December 8.

Herro led the Heat to a 3-1 record against some tough competition, averaging 25.3 points, 6.0 rebounds and 5.5 assists while shooting 50.7 percent from the field, 43.6 percent from three-point range and 87.5 percent from the foul line in wins against the Phoenix Suns, Los Angeles Lakers, and Cleveland Cavaliers. He led his team in points in three of the four games and was the game-high scorer in two of them. More impressively, the Heat’s press release notes that Herro was the only NBA player to “post at least those averages and shoot those percentages for the week.”

This is his first Player of the Week honor, having previously won the NBA Sixth Man of the Year award in 2022. He is now the 17th player in team history to have won it and the 62nd time a Heat player has been named Player of the Week.

Herro has arguably been Miami’s best and most consistent player this season, and he could be looking at his first All-Star nod if he continues to produce at this rate. Could he be on track to win the NBA’s Most Improved Player award this season too? Senior writer Brandon Di Perno looks at Herro’s chances here.

Well deserved. Tyler has been the best player on the team all season. We’ll see if this forces the national media to start paying attention

So happy for Tyler. He worked very hard to improve, built himself up noticeably, and handled some adversity where his potential was clearly undervalued, and did it all with class. He is a beautiful athlete, a rare combination of high finesse, extreme body control, quick trigger release, high level accuracy on his three, excellent finishing and creativity around the rim, with good vision and passing skills. He tailored his game to the teams needs and can just about do it all. Add to this list the fact that he is pretty clutch too, very prone to making the big shot. He always reminds me of Lance Alworth, the wide receiver they called Bambi, who was also an incredible athlete. It is a pleasure to watch him play for us.

And to top it off, he seems like a good, involved dad!

Very nice B30…I’m a Herro guy when everyone, or most here were asking to trade him I was rooting for a “resurrection” lol. And here we are. Still a lot of basketball to cover but the progress is really promising. Keep it up boy wonder.

I never wanted to trade him, but I had definitely lowered my expectations for what kind of player he would become. He’s definitely blown all of my expectations out of the water. He’s been fantastic all season

Yes! Absolutely great news!!

ManilaHeat

Cross fingers he keeps it up. Heat needs that. As a fan id rather have current players performing, improving, helping us get Ws than going for a trade. Might disrupt the rhythm, continuity. But its up to those guys to play up to the godfather’s (and us fans hehe) expectations. Go Heat!

GREAT NEWS! HE DESERVES IT!!! CONGRATULATIONS TYLER AND KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!
