Each of the Miami Heat’s three new additions–Andrew Wiggins, Kyle Anderson and Davion Mitchell–are not expected to make their debuts Friday against the Brooklyn Nets, the team confirmed Friday on the injury report.
Barring a last-minute change, that will likely hold; it is currently undetermined whether or not they are with the team.
The Heat’s next game will be Monday against the reigning champion Boston Celtics, who beat the Heat in their only meeting this season 108-89. Miami’s Friday game against Brooklyn marks the final of a four-game roadtrip before returning home for just one game before the All-Star break.
According to Associated Press’ Tim Reynolds, the “hope” is that Wiggins will make his debut Monday against Boston; he didn’t specify the status of the other two players, but one could assume that the motive is the same.
Wiggins, Anderson and Mitchell were all acquired in a five-team trade that sent star Jimmy Butler to the Golden State Warriors that also included the Utah Jazz, Detroit Pistons and Toronto Raptors. Former Heat guard Josh Richardson was ultimately sent to Utah, where he is planning on being waived.
The Heat also sent two second-round picks in the trade, which was finalized Friday. It was their only two seconds available to move–a 2026 second-round pick (via Lakers) and a 2031 second-round pick swap in the Thomas Bryant trade.
