Nikola Jovic fractured his right hand in the first half of Sunday’s 120-113 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks, the team announced.

The team announced that he fractured his second metacarpal in his right hand. He only played in 15 minutes, scoring seven points with two rebounds.

We don’t know the timetable for return. But for reference, Chris Paul fractured his second metacarpal last season and missed 16 games; Stephen Curry fractured his second metacarpal in the fifth game of the season in 2019-20 and did not return.

In other words, he could miss an extended period of time and may need surgery based on the severity of it. A lot of unknowns right now.

Nevertheless, this is a very tough break for Nikola Jovic, who was playing some of the best basketball of his career up to this point. Entering Sunday’s game, the 21-year-old forward was averaging 10.8 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.9 assists on 45.3 percent shooting and 37.0 percent from 3-point range.

Jovic was eligible for an extension this offseason, too. He also dealt with an ankle injury that plagued him for most of the offseason.
