Despite both teams being tied at 83 after three quarters, the Miami Heat rallied late to beat the tanking Philadelphia 76ers Monday night inside Kaseya Center.
Miami was without star center Bam Adebayo for only the third time this season on Monday. As a result, Kel’el Ware was one point and three rebounds away from the franchise’s first 20-20 double-double since Dec. of 2018 (Hassan Whiteside).
With his 19-point and 17-rebound effort, Ware becomes the only rookie with multiple 15-15 games this season. The only other time he’s notched that feat was on Jan. 21 against the Portland Trail Blazers, where he had 20 points with 15 rebounds.
Heat sharpshooter Duncan Robinson tallied a team-high 212 points on 5-of-6 from deep off the bench, including 12 points in the final period. Tyler Herro had a quiet night relative to what we’ve been used to seeing, scoring 20 points on 8-of-14 shooting.
Making his sixth straight start, Pelle Larsson scored 11 points with three rebounds and three steals on 4-of-6 shooting; Alec Burks also had 11 points on 3-of-6 shooting from 3-point range while Davion Mitchell had 12 points and a team-high nine assists in 35 minutes.
Miami had a 14-point lead toward the tail-end of the first half, though a 19-5 76ers run gave Philadelphia a four-point advantage with 5:17 left in the third quarter.
Both teams were knotted at 83 after 36 minutes, but a combination of Kyle Anderson, Ware, Robinson and Davion Mitchell spearheaded a 19-5 run of their own over a 5:12 stretch in the fourth quarter to give Miami a 13-point lead with under five minutes left, putting the game out of reach.
The Heat did not let the lead dip below 10 points over the final 5:01.
With their win Monday, they remain alive in the race for a top-8 seed before the conclusion of the regular season, which ends in six days. Miami is currently 1.5 games back of the Atlanta Hawks for that spot; fortunately, it owns the NBA’s easiest strength of schedule the rest of the way, making it attainable.

the guy that should have the ball at the end is slo mo.hes a great distributor and can bully his way to rim.dont like ty as our last shooter end of game.his % of making baskets has to be below 25%
how to obtain a ss the 64 million $$ ?.until we get one i cant meet rc 30on bisc blvd in july.we have problems at end of games where ss takes over.nobody can do it on current team.tys always throwing up prayers and bam very rarely wants any pieece of that.enter kd
Duncan cornrows FTW
I kept telling people. The guy’s legit.
hes the worse defensive player in the nba.dont think its even close.no problem with his offensive game
You literally have no idea what you are talking about. Burks is lower on the list of NBA stats. Please don’t tell me about your B&J’s eyes
How does everyone feel about Durant? He is going to get traded. I don’t want him because of all the draft picks or players needed to get him. Unless we got him for a steal, I pass on him. He is pretty old now, still an A player and it is a stars league, but two years ago I would say yes, now I say no, not for four draft picks or core players like Wiggins, Mitchell, Ware, Bam, or Herro. Anyone else, and more like one first pick and I am good with it.
kd since 2013 has shot over 50% ,hes prob the best pure scorer in the last 20 years but hes old now.this year hes at 53 % 43% on 3s.if he can give us 3 years like that and plaY 65 games ayear i say take anybody not named ware.
You mortgage the future for a pipedream by giving up half the team to get him then you have an injury or two and wind up a lottery team with no assets and no bench. The grass isn’t always greener on the other side heat. Ask Nets and Suns.
i give up bam or herro for him
6 in one hand, half dozen in the other. Duncan, Rozier, Jaquez, Jovic and a first…maybe.
jovic and jjj have some value.dunc has little value .rozier had value feds took it away.i think if they trade kd prob gonna okc it and trade book start ova.
I hope Spo has banned his players from reading comments on HHH that has any reference to trades.
I would be cool with him, but like you said, if it was for a steal. He is 6’11, and one of the best scorers ever, so his game will age well like LBJ. Also he’s running out of teams that interests him. His main choices currently are Houston and us probably. So if Houston decides they don’t want him, that would be our best chance at a steal package. Either way I’m good with our core, and my preference is to add more young, athletic talent, and an A tier player fits our core timeline better.
Bingo! Most of the top teams were built through the draft and internal development, not acquiring aging stars. I’m curious to see how far Warriors go. I have a feeling they will crash and burn.
teams can be built both ways.either free agency or wait forever to get good i prefer the first way.to suk for years id have to not listen to the great e reid that would be a bummer.its all about entertainment and rings.if the heat are competitive im good with that.to be bad for a few years would suk
bam or ty cant be your best player next year kd is better than them both.hes old though but id like him on the heat. preferably for ty.kds still great.where the else u gonna get a ss sunman.your pipe dreaming
Really proud of my alma mater! And the Heat too.
Go Gators!
You need a Slovenian in team to win something.
im down with that
ud must be your fav playa
I am a Canes fan, but I’d rather see a Florida team beat a Texas team every time.
One game at a time. Kel’el is gonna be a very good center for years to come. He turns 21 in a couple of weeks. Chicago next up in Chicago. Winner may have a shot at 8th place. Should be fun.
GO HEAT!
Congratulations…
Gators! I mean Heat 😁
Time to shut it down.
Ok, time to shut it down.
