After a six-game absence with a toe sprain, Miami Heat big man Bam Adebayo will officially be back Wednesday ahead of their matchup against the Golden State Warriors, the team formally announced!
Adebayo, 28, is averaging 19.9 points, 8.1 rebounds and 2.9 assists on 45.2 percent shooting, including 34.0 percent from 3-point range and 86.1 percent from the free-throw line. In his last fully healthy game against the Los Angeles Clippers on Nov. 3, he scored 25 points with 10 boards, four dimes and two steals on 10-of-18 shooting.
Adebayo has made a 3-pointer in 19 straight games that he’s completed the game. He’s nailed at least three thrice this season, including four two separate times against the Memphis Grizzlies and San Antonio Spurs.
There’s no stressing how important Adebayo is to the Heat. When he’s on the floor, they have a plus-11.3 NET Rating compared to a minus-1.9 NET when he’s off. He’s also one of two bigs on their roster; they have zero depth behind him.
Miami was also getting murdered in the rebounding department without him. He’s not only their best player at boxing out, but he’s arguably their best out of area rebounder.
Adebayo’s return will come against a Warriors squad minus Draymond Green, Stephen Curry and former Heat star Jimmy Butler. One could expect he’s on a minutes restriction, but he’ll have a favorable matchup ahead regardless.
“You’re talking about one of the very best two-way players in the game,” head coach Erik Spoelstra said Tuesday. “He’s going to make an impact. All the things he does is going to impact winning.”
