With Michael Baiamonte’s retirement following the 2025-26 season, the Miami Heat will now have a new lead voice during games for the first time in nearly four decades.
On Wednesday, the organization announced that Gale Nelson, the CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters Miami, will be the new public address announcer. As part of his new introduction to the organization, here’s a video of him announcing each player’s name!
“Gale brings a unique style and his very distinctive voice to the PA announcer position,” Michael McCullough, the Heat’s Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer, said via release. “We were intrigued right from the start when we heard Gale, and we knew he could be exactly what we were looking for.”
This is an awesome opportunity for Nelson, who has overseen the BBBS club in Miami since the start of 2018. He was born in Lincoln, Neb., and grew up in Toledo, Ohio. Of the public information available to us, this is his first opportunity as a public address announcer of any kind, so I’m very curious to see how he adapts to his new role.
He will be keeping Baiamonte’s trademarked “Dos Minutos” saying that the longtime broadcaster shouted at the two-minute mark of each quarter.
“I look forward to continuing the legacy that Michael Biamonte left at the HEAT and creating my own journey with the organization,” Nelson said via release. “I am humbled and excited for HEAT Nation to see who Gale is and showcase my personality and style that I will bring to the microphone this season.”
Best of luck to Gale!

Smooth voice, gives off a really good vibe. Seems like a cool, down-to-earth dude.
I like him already.
Good luck Gale. Nice voice!
