Miami Heat guard Terry Rozier avoided a major knee injury in his MRI Monday, which showed a sprained right knee, and he will be evaluated week-to-week, NBA insider Shams Charania of The Athletic reported Monday. Rozier injured his knee in the second half of Sunday’s 110-106 loss to the Boston Celtics Sunday.

Heat reporter and insider Anthony Chiang confirmed Charania’s report Monday.

Rozier, who the Heat acquired in late January roughly three weeks ahead of the 2024 NBA Trade Deadline, injured his knee after landing awkwardly on a layup attempt. He was helped off the court and did not return after playing 24 minutes. He finished with 13 points, four rebounds and six assists on 6-of-16 shooting.
Terry Rozier won’t return to today’s Heat vs. Celtics game after suffering an apparent knee injury on this play.
Hope he’s okay 🙏pic.twitter.com/Ppef106qF6

Both Rozier and Richardson suffered injuries in Sunday’s loss; Richardson’s was diagnosed as a dislocated shoulder, which could potentially sideline him for the next month.
Given the potential severity of Rozier’s fall, this is great news for the Heat. It’s easy to assume that Rozier will be out through the All-Star break and potentially at the start of their four-game road-trip exiting the break. He could still return before Richardson, who could return in mid-March, but it’s also understandable if the Heat want to be extra cautious.
Rozier is averaging 12.6 points, 4.5 rebounds and 5.6 assists in 29.9 minutes per game across 10 contests (nine starts) with the Heat. Though he was beginning to find his offensive rhythm more up until his injury; over his previous six games before his injury, he was averaging 14.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 5.8 assists.

Thad Young to the Suns.
Also, Heat delayed 6 hours due to a plane issue, so no shootaround for them. Wow! Can’t catch a break right now. Stay healthy these two games and regroup during the All-Star break.
Thats great news.
so terry, jrich, and jimmy out of the rotation for some time? so whos gonna start at pg? is alondes ready? can cain play pg?
Point Jamie!
Boy wonder or Juan wick will probably be starting pg. I think alondes is ready, he’s been killing it lately, and been playing like the g league mvp. I don’t think Cain can play pg, If anything I can see spo using him as a sg. Since we’re low on guards… if not then he will be sf/pf. Maybe we will see a bench unit of alondes, duncan, cain,Bryant, love. If you don’t trust the defense of that group, then maybe you can switch Bryant out for Orlando, or HH.
Low on guards ooohh…Lowry was available but got picked up by sixers 😆😂
Lowry can go kick rocks lol
So glad to hear that Terry’s injury is not serious. Hopefully, Josh’s injury is not so bad and he can return within a month or so. One thing for sure, our guys have been through some real challenges this season and are still hanging together.
At worst they will be 28-27 at the all-star break. Even if they wind up 41-41 at the end of the season and in the play-in tournament, as long as they are healthy by then, anything is possible.
Meanwhile, it will give a chance for Spo to give some folks some quality minutes and hopefully discover a gem or two in the process (e.g., Alondes, Orlando, Niko, Jamal, Cole). It is what it is.
GO HEAT!!!
I think if everyone but J-Rich comes back healthy after the all-star break, this team should be able to finish top-5 in the East. I’m not saying they will, but there is no reason to believe they can’t.
yep, thats the dream scenario for us.
Go into playin as 10th seed, knockoff couple of teams to get the 8th seed, then we face the celtics in the 1st round and we make them cry and weep as we eliminate them again just like before
Get well soon Terry! Your new teammates got ur back. As these Heat team always have. Next man up. Go Heat!
yeeeesssss! I was sincerely worried that the season was at risk if this team lost J-Rich and Scary Terry on the same day. Hopefully he’s back after the all-star break.
With the lack of guards now available on the roster, does Spo slide Jimmy and Caleb down a position, and start trotting Jovic and Bryant out for a few minutes a game?
Sorry to break it to you but there is report out, supposedly Jimmy won’t be back until after all star break, so we probably won’t see him until the pelicans game.
Hope everyone who needs the time off get their needed rest and recovery. Physically and emotionally.
There gonna need all the rest and recovery they can get, so we can battle hard for the 5th or 6th seed.
So he will miss 3 overall games, which doesn’t sound bad, until you look at the teams. Ouch
Ikr, out of those 3 games, I wouldn’t be surprised if we went 1-3 or even 0-3.
with only two more games left before the all-star break, it feels like it was a good time for this bad news
True, better to get the injury bug out the way, so they can gel, and peak at the right time.
Interestingly, the thing many of us have been clamoring for will probably happen now. With no Butler, Rozier, an J Rich, it increases the chance of seeing more Cain, Orlando, Bryant, Alondes, maybe Swider.
On another note, Duncan is questionable with an elbow strain, likely from the Jaylen assault. The league should take another look at that and suspend that jackass a few games. If you saw the replay, the ball was already out of bounds and in the hands of a fan before he threw Duncan. Low class, no class move.
NBA, if you’re listening, don’t fine me, but that was some bullshit
i’m shocked that Jalen Brown didn’t get tossed. That was the dirtiest thing I’ve seen in the NBA in a long time. I feel like punching someone in the face is better than trying to break someone’s arm. That move would be illegal in UFC
If he had hyperextended, dislocated, badly sprained or broken Duncan’s arm he would have been suspended for a while. He was lucky it was not a lot worse. Very dirty play. He knew what he was doing. No way in hell that was only a flagrant 1 foul! It was at very minimum a Flagrant 2!!!
Per NBA rules:
Flagrant 1 foul is “unnecessary contact committed by a player against an opponent”, while the more serious Flagrant 2 is “unnecessary and excessive contact committed by a player against an opponent.” Flagrant 2 results in an immediate ejection of the offender.
Some really good news, definitely feel better with are chances going forward, plus we’re supposed get Jimmy back after All-star break. Until then spo can tinker with some lineups. I would like see big lineups like maybe herro, caleb, jaquez, bam, Orlando and bench could be Duncan, alondes, love Cain/jovic/HH.
A very heart warming news.
Miracles! Time for the rest of the team to lock in and be in a good spot once Terry and Jrich return.
This is the best news I’ve had today!
Yes. It’s been a tough day. I guess Alondes will get a good look. And, maybe they will pick up a player too. But, both players will likely return with some season left. Maybe we can turn it into something good.
