Bam Adebayo intends to sign three-year extension with Heat

Miami Heat center Bam Adebayo intends to sign a three-year, $166 million max extension with the organization, Tim Reynolds of the Associated Press was first to report Wednesday.

The extension has not been finalized, according to Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald. But the expectation is that it will get done, as anticipated.

Adebayo’s extension is not expected to kick in until 2026-27, his age-29 season. Assuming current cap projections remain the same, his impending cap hits will be $51.2 million, $55.3 million and $59.4 million. Those figures allocate for 30.0, 29.5 and 28.8 percent of the projected salary cap numbers through 2028-29, respectively.

Adebayo, who will turn 27-years-old on July 18, is coming off one of the best seasons of his career. He averaged 19.3 points, 10.4 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.1 steals per game on 52.1 percent shooting and 57.6 percent true shooting. He was consistently the Heat’s best player throughout the 2023-24 campaign and spearheaded yet another top-5 defense, earning first-team All-Defense while finishing third in Defensive Player of the Year voting for the first time in his career.

He’s the most valuable player–and one of the most valuable people, in general–within the Heat organization. Adebayo’s a franchise pillar who the next build will–and should–be constructed around.

It’s only a matter of time before the extension becomes officially official, but the captain isn’t going anywhere–nor should he!

Well deserved, Bam! Get that bag!

There is a move. Blazers out of 14 enter the Wizards. They could be looking at a different type of player than the Blazers. Interesting

Well they traded away one of there best players for an injury player in brogdon and 3 picks. So wizards are definitely rebuilding. They might go for a center, forward, or a guard. Don’t be surprised if wizards try to trade kuzma and Poole next.

Lots of potential trade candidates between the Nets and Wizards. Free agency feeder system

5th best team in the east and that’s being generous. Knicks bucks Celtics 76ers maybe even the pacers are better rn as currently constructed

Celtics and Knicks are better. After that it doesn’t matter since there will be roster moves. So I have no idea what the point is of already declaring next season over. I’m weird where I like to see what happens.

76ers? Come on, man. Embiid will never make a full season with playoffs. Never.

Same 76ers that beat Mia to put them in the 8th seed? What roster moves are you talking about? As long as Jimmy is here the team is coasting in the regular season and he will be injured along the way. Running it back for the sixth time is wild work. Again 5th/6th best team in the east and that’s being generous

Congratulations Bam! Well deserved! Now it’s time for Pat to build a team of the future around him. It would be great to see a championship contending team full of two-way players in a couple of years which stays together for several seasons.

Note: The only player left from Bam’s rookie season is Josh Richardson (assuming he opts in on his contract). Most of the players on that team are retired or otherwise out of the league or are peripheral players on other teams.

McHale also weighed like 50 pounds less than Bam, so of course his ballerina shoes fit a lot more snug than Bam’s. πŸ˜‰

Bam will be a legit 3 point shooter In the next 2 seasons book it, like bosh.

If so, it’s time to fully unlock his game. I need 95-96 Shawn Kemp from the 3 when he shot 41%. Sure, it was less than a half three per game, BUT STILL! πŸ˜› πŸ˜›
