Among those chosen, 10 were former first-round picks, including Jaquez, who was drafted No. 18 overall in the 2023 NBA Draft. Jaquez was also one of seven players on the roster to get named to the All-Rookie team–earning first-team honors in 2023-24 while finishing fourth in Rookie of the Year voting.
“As a former member of the USA Select Team, I know how important and fun this opportunity is for each of these players,” Grant Hill, USA Basketball Men’s National Team managing director, said via release. “There is a tremendous amount of talent on this Select squad with the significant job of helping the 2024 USA Men’s National Team as they begin their journey to the Olympics. Each of these athletes will play a role in our preparation as we also develop the national team pipeline for the future.”
Among those on Team USA’s Olympic squad are Heat center Bam Adebayo and head coach Erik Spoelstra, who will continue his role as an assistant under Warriors head coach Steve Kerr. That team includes the most star power it’s had in over a decade–spearheaded by LeBron James, Stephen Curry (first-ever Olympics), Kevin Durant, Joel Embiid and Anthony Edwards, among several others.
Orlando Magic head coach Jamahl Mosley will be the head coach for the Select Team with assistants Jim Boylen and Matt Painter.
“I’m looking forward to returning to Las Vegas and working with the USA Select Team once again,” Mosley said via release. “Over my three years with USA Basketball, I’ve gained a tremendous amount of knowledge on international basketball while having the opportunity to work alongside some of the best players and coaches in our game.”
This will be an amazing opportunity for Jaquez to get offseason work alongside some of the league’s top young talent while also seeing where he stacks up against the NBA’s best.
Six current players of the team–Durant, Edwards, Tyrese Haliburton, Jrue Holiday, Kawhi Leonard and Devin Booker–were all former select team members as well. It’s a way that Jaquez breaks open the door for a potential nod down the line if he continues to refine multiple parts of his game.
Jaquez, 23, averaged 11.9 points, 3.8 rebounds, 2.6 assists and one steal last year, shooting 48.9 percent from the floor, 32.2 percent from 3-point range and 81.1 percent from the free-throw line. The now-second-year player played a team-most 75 games and was one of the NBA’s top rookies throughout last season–especially before injuring his groin midway through.

Awesome! Jaime should gain valuable experience playing against the league’s best that should help prepare him for his sophomore season. He’ll also gets to expand his network of NBA players. Great opportunity for “El Guaco.”
GO HEAT!!!
Yeah he’s going to be fully guac’ed up for that Mexico City game. Keep your eye on a youngens performance in that one. It wil be proof they too found the stash of guac.
guac(winslow) is a jinx come up with different term.
Winslow was jinxed because he was GINO (Guac-In-Name_only) aka: “fake guac.”
FYI…There are various forms of guac. Jaime is the true Guac since, like guacamole, his roots originated in Mexico. (Guacamole (Spanish: [ɡwakaˈmole]; informally shortened to guac in the United States since the 1980s) is an avocado-based dip, spread, or salad first developed in Mexico. In addition to its use in modern Mexican cuisine, it has become part of international cuisine as a dip, condiment, and salad ingredient.)

That “scrubola” was selected first team All-Rookie. He was the 14th HEAT rookie to be named to an NBA All-Rookie Team and the seventh to earn First Team honors, joining Kendrick Nunn (2019-20), Michael Beasley (2008-09), Dwyane Wade (2003-04), Caron Butler (2002-03), Steve Smith (1991-92) and Sherman Douglas (1989-90).
