The Miami Heat will host Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs in their third preseason game Tuesday, the first of a back-to-back and the second of four preseason games for the Heat this week. Tip-off will be at 7:30 p.m. inside Kaseya Center in Miami, Fla.
We saw a glimpse of the Terry Rozier, Tyler Herro, Jimmy Butler, Nikola Jovic and Bam Adebayo starting lineup for the first time … ever! … on Sunday. The lineup never logged a single lineup together last season. Against New Orleans on Sunday, they finished a plus-3 across roughly 13 minutes of action, building a 12-point lead for the Heat with 2:31 left of the first half.
They only played in the first half; it was a much rougher second half for Miami’s younger players, including Zyon, rookie Kel’el Ware and Nassir Little. Miami still earned a tw0-point win–even though wins and losses in the preseason are inconsequential–despite shooting 41.5 percent and 9-of-42 (21.4 percent … eek!) from 3-point range.
After missing two straight preseason games due to rest after a very busy summer for star big Victor Wembanyama, he’s expected to play Tuesday against Miami, the first of two final preseason games for the Spurs.
A few of their standouts this preseason have been sixth-year forward Keldon Johnson, who had a down season last year, plus Julian Champagnie (twin brother of former Skyforce forward Justin Champagnie), Sandro Mamukelashvili, Blake Wesley and first-round rookie Stephon Castle, one of the best players in the 2024 class.
