The well-coached teams will make adjustments at halftime. For some reason (go ahead and think for a moment) the Heat take a quarter (3rd quarter) to react to these changes without making their own adjustments. Just saying…this trend has become a multi-seasonal habit.
If the team is going to be mediocre, why not do it with the young guys? Ware and Pelle need spots in the rotation. The sooner they get their feet wet, the faster they will learn to swim.
The Heat begin a six-game trip starting Wednesday in Phoenix against the 6-1 Suns. From there, they head to Denver, Minnesota, Detroit and Indiana (for two games). When the Heat return later this month, they will host the Philadelphia 76ers (with Paul George and maybe Joel Embiid), Dallas Mavericks and Milwaukee Bucks.
That’s eight of nine games against teams that made the playoffs last season. The Heat are currently 0-3 against last season’s playoff teams and haven’t won a regular-season game against a team with a winning record since April 2.
P.S. Kings win the third 37-17. Heat at home this season in third quarters:
Orlando, 39-18
Detroit, 26-14
New York, 35-22
Sacramento, 37-17
Opponents 137, Heat 71.
Thanks for taking time to look up the stats. It is crazy, right? 137-71!!!
Yup. Spo needs to start lighting a fire under the players’ asses at halftime or Riley needs to light a fire under Spo’s ass!
We got pushback in the offseason for advocating for a Butler trade. Now the same voice who said we’d be mediocre without Butler is saying how bad we are WITH Butler.
And for those who thought Pelle would not see the floor the entire season? I’m happy you were wrong. He’s a solid young player.
I do think, however, most of us will be right about Ware. I am sure he will be fine when he is given the opportunity. C’mon Spo, you took a chance with Pelle, please do the same with Ware!
If the Heat come back with a losing record after this road trip, I think it is time for Riley to start thinking about starting Ware and trading Butler for young studs and picks. Houston would love to have him.
I haven’t seen the game yet. But looking at the stats one can easily spot the usual culprits:
1. Free throws – wtf is wrong with this team and ft shooting? Fix it. We used to be one of the best ft shooting teams. It is a big deal if we lose by 1 point!
2. Turd quarter – not fun anymore. Losing the 3rd by 20 points??? It’s become Death, taxes and turd quarter.
3. Rebounds. Obviously we need to improve. Based only on this game’s numbers it was not so bad, but we cannot allow such offensive rebound in the last second. Ok, we knew with Sabonis it would be hard, but we have to get better. I don’t care which way.
sac a pretty small team like us.sabonis only big dude.bam is so undersized at c.ware is he spobot,
Turd, FT and rebounding are definitely things to improve. While FT and rebounding is mostly a problem of concentration, turd might be a condition problem.
Its clear Heat wants to play high tempo and outrun the opposite team, but when good teams elevate the intensity in third, Heat seems doesn’t have an answer.
Missing 9 fts is unacceptable. These guys missed so many fts like it spread through the team like an infection. Jimmy in particular looks like his shot got worst or maybe his highlighted braids was too tight, there was a point where he missed 2 straight fts. Like this game was there for the taking, even the refs took away 2 points from the kings, that 4 point play was weak. Also that last rebound was RIDICULOUS. spo should of made an adjustment and switched out pelle or Tyler for some size. I hope this lost doesn’t come back to bite us. Good thing we’re in the east and not the west. These guys need to practice fts, boxing out, and layups. Spo might need to change that starting lineup soon too, since it’s the worst starting unit so far in terms of plus minus.
terry ty doesnt work.have one come off the bench as a go to guy
Maybe you’re right, but I rather see how both them play with love or Jaquez or locksmith starting over jovic, before taking herro, or rozier out. We still got time to tinker with lineups since we’re 3rd in the eastern conference currently.
We are only tied for third because with Nets and Knicks because several playoff teams have had bad (under .500) starts e.g., Indiana, Orlando, Philadelphia and Milwaukee. Only two teams in East are over .500.
Herro has been our best player in the first quarter/half in almost every game this season. We need him to start, it is one of the things that are working. We could discuss Rozier, but we don’t have a better pg. J-Rich is rusty and Dru has had good moments, but he is not close to Rozier’s level. I don’t see a better option than Terry and Ty starting.
If you send Rozier to second unit, who would you start at PG?
Herro has been one of the high points of this early season. He’s earned the right to stay in the starting lineup. If anyone moves, it should be Rozier. And I still believe Jovic shouldn’t be in the starting lineup either.
I’m in full agreement with you 😌
Although Jovic has improved, he hasn’t achieved a starter quality yet imho. But actually I don’t mind him starting the games. He is very good in transition offense, he is fast and a good passer and usually is able to score in the beginning of the game. As the game progresses he seems to become less effective. This is just my observation, but I haven’t seen all games. So, I would prefer him to start the games, than to close. But I agree that the PF position is our weakness.
Better off the bench. Less pressure and able to run and grow at his own pace. Butler slows the team down. His slow down/half court style is holding the young bucks back from running.
Well, hat hurts.
At least we have Pelle.
Zach Edey: 29 minutes, 25 points, 12 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 blocks
Kel’el Ware: 0, 0, 0, 0, 0
Highsmith and Richardson not playing well
Larsson looks like legit role player next to Jaquez.
If Pat isn’t going trade for another scorer/rebounder like Kuzma, then…
Start Ware at C, Bam at PF, Butler at SF, Herro at SG and Rozier at PG
Jaquez, Larsson, Robinson, Jovic, Love
Smith, Richardson, Highsmith, Bryant
highsmith minutes so minimal anyway.not a spo fav,u know u get primo d and hes not a bad offensive player just very unselfish on the offensive end.should be ahead of dunc on the pecking order.do u think if wares in the game with bam sabonis gets that winning rebound,,why would u have tyler out there when u need a stop to win the fn game.why eric pls explain.
Highsmith’s unselfishness is costing him playing time. Heat does not need passive players. If Highsmith and Jovic were more like Jaquez, they could be tearing shit up. Hell Larsson shows more aggressiveness than either one of them and he’s a friggin rookie.
Shameful loss snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.
when u need a stop at the end why is tyler on the floor.u got a 7ft monster that never plays.what a great time to put him in game but hes spobotic eric the goat
this loss sucks
make. your. fts.
That. Is. Correct. If they do, the putback is entirely irrelevant.
9 missed free throws 21-30. Sac 15-17. Plus, a foul on 3 pointer near the end for a 4 point play.
all that said get that rebound we win.bam 6 9 jim 6 7 pelle ty 6 5 6 5 terry 6 1.
We made a lot of threes, mostly shot well, still lost. Need more from the four.
Practice those effin free throws heat!!!
💯
too small eric but u like small teams
The goat coach comes up with a play that the final look is a 35 foot three?
Sigh, gonna be a long frustrating season. My expectations weren’t high, but this team makes everything difficult.
that ball has got to be thrown at the rim with a bam tip in or foul
Those boards killed us
every game get killed on boards
Heartbreaker.
between this and the dolphins game double heartbreak
Effing free throws!!!
heartbreaker
ware time spobot too small eric
wow wheres ware
ty better be off ct now
ty d yes
Herro has really improved defensively
68% free throws. Could cost us
suns den min away comeon sched makers
pelle leaned into him not a dirty foul
Pelle is one tough young man
Fox leaned into it at the end, liked to see Herro give Fox grief about it
makeup for bams shenanigans
I did think that was a shot clock violation
malik monk certified heat killer
nice pass by dunc and a nice tip by dunc to bam
Like the sound I’m hearing from Kaseya center, sounds like a good atmosphere tonight. We get jimmy running the floor and having an active 4th quarter could be good tone setting for the heat and good inside the team
j poor bad
josh when young was a very avg player 10 years later
Tuning how’s the game been
up by 15 at half pelle and ty were very good
Great, first half. Terrible third-quarter.
suns denver minn thats 3 ls wow
pelle should have started out on fox ty and terry both bad defenders
pelle was playing so good should have started him what doe shnoz do for u spobot
I’ll ttyl I’m going to gym, hopefully we win, I’ll watch last quarter when I get back.
24 point turnaround. Awful.
Pat’s running it back for the 6th straight year is just laughable. This isn’t a team that’s close. Either Pat’s too washed to see it, too washed to fix it or Mickey is too cheap to allow it to happen.
At this point I’d rather be bad than stuck in this purgatory of rooting for a .500 team, that won’t make noise in the playoffs.
I can only hope they recognize the futile effort and try and package Jimmy for some picks and cap space.
Jimmy and Bam ain’t stars. Run it back team is looking awful similar to last years trash.
true
Another turd quarter
ouch…cmon Heat!
bam taken a shot?
terrys d is not good
timeout
tys great 1st half shooting 30% second half
t3erry
