After an extended, unusual five-day break during the middle of November, the Miami Heat return to action Sunday against the Dallas Mavericks inside Kaseya Center at 6:00 p.m. EST!
Miami last played Monday against the Philadelphia 76ers, earning a 16-point win behind Jimmy Butler’s 30-point, 10-rebound effort. The Heat are looking for their first two-game home win streak of the season, last winning two straight on April 14 against the Toronto Raptors.
Dallas enters Sunday’s game 9-7, despite placing in the top-5 in adjusted NET Rating and offense with the ninth-best defense, according to Dunks & Threes. It will, however, be without superstar guard Luka Doncic due to a sprained right wrist.
The Mavericks are coming off back-to-back in-season tournament wins against the New Orleans Pelicans and Denver Nuggets, respectively. They were without Doncic in their three-point win Friday against Denver, with Naji Marshall topping the team with 26 points on 11-of-15 shooting and 3-of-4 from beyond the arc in 26 minutes; Kyrie Irving had 19 points, six rebounds and six assists while P.J. Washington had 22 points and 13 rebounds.
Miami has continued to struggle against good teams this season, going 1-5 against teams with a .500 record or better and -3 (minus-23.2 NET, 27th) against teams with a top-10 point differential, per Cleaning The Glass. Will that trend continue Sunday?
