The Sioux Falls Skyforce, the G-League affiliate of the Miami Heat, reacquired guard Alondes Williams via returning player rights, the team announced Sunday.
Williams, 25, spent last season in the Miami Heat organization, including earning a two-way contract midway through the season despite appearing in only 16 total minutes. He earned the G-League’s most improved player award after averaging 21.7 points, 5.4 rebounds, 7.2 assists and 1.2 steals on 52.2/37.7/76.6 shootings splits.
After playing with the Heat’s Summer League squad for the second consecutive season, Alondes Williams signed a training camp deal with the Los Angeles Clippers before joining the Motor City Cruise, the Detroit Pistons’ G-League affiliate, ahead of the Tip-Off Tournament.
In 18 combined games, he averaged 18.4 points, 4.1 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game. he was shooting 45.5 percent from the floor, 29.1 percent from 3-point range and 82.4 percent from the free-throw line, which is a career-best mark. He totaled 20 points, 12 rebounds and 16 assists in 59 minutes with the Clippers during the preseason.
Williams’ addition comes over 48 hours after the Memphis Grizzlies plucked undrafted rookie guard Zyon Pullin away from the Heat on a two-way contract. He and Bryson Warren, who tallied a near 40-point, 10-rebound, nine-assist triple-double Friday, will be the two mainstays in the backcourt for the time being.
