GAME PREVIEW: Heat will attempt to avoid longest losing streak of season against Clippers

The Miami Heat are fumbling themselves out of the Eastern Conference postseason picture, and it won’t get any easier as they face six playoff teams over the next seven games. (Photo via Miami Herald)

After what has been a season to forget for the Miami Heat, they have put themselves in jeopardy of losing a season-worst five games in a row. They have already lost five of their last six, along with limping to a 4-11 record in 15 matchups since trading Jimmy Butler.

It has been an unfortunate series of events to go through all these losses. The roster on paper has the names and talent to at the very least be a playoff team. Unfortunately, the product on the court has displayed the opposite.

And it won’t get any easier, as the Heat will face six playoff contenders over the next seven games. This includes opponents like the Boston Celtics, New York Knicks and of course— Butler’s Golden State Warriors on March 25.

For now, they are set to host the visiting LA Clippers inside Kaseya Center on Wednesday evening.

The Clippers are coming off a 127-120 loss to the New Orleans Pelicans yesterday, and will travel for the second night of a back-to-back in South Florida.

James Harden and Kawhi Leonard star duo is expected to be available for the Clippers against Miami. However, their official injury report has not released yet.

Can the Heat put an end to the suffering? Let us know in the comments!

gsw 12 1 with jimmy before he arrived under 500.put that in your pipe pat and smoke it.he might have been right when he said with him in there last year might have beaten boston.

SunManFromDogBone

Uh, we didn’t/still don’t have Steph Curry, if that means anything. Butler was the one who came into camp with a positive attitude about having a great year and all that b.s. If he wasn’t happy, he should have told Pat over the summer so he could have been traded then. He screwed Miami by keeping his mouth shut and acting happy then dropping a bomb on the team. I don’t GAF how good he is now, he chose not to be that good this season with Miami in order to force a trade. F*** him!

P.S. Riley has a big part of the blame to share in this whole fiasco. The only difference is that Pat didn’t quit on the organization, the city or his teammates. Butler did! Despite all the success the Heat had while Butler was a member, the thing I and many Heat fans will remember most of all is that he quit on his teammates. They didn’t deserve that and like The Godfather: “That I cannot forgive.”

NBA Bleacher Report 2025 NBA Mock Draft: Miami Heat
11. Miami Heat: Jeremiah Fears (Oklahoma, PG)

  • Previous Mock Position: No. 14
  • Size: 6’4″, 182 lbs
  • Age: 18
  • Nationality: American
  • Pro Comparisons: Jaden Ivey, Scoot Henderson

A shaky jumper at 18 years old has made it tough for Jeremiah Fears to consistently score with efficiency. But performances like his 31-point, five-assist game against Missouri will encourage patience. NBA teams will value how effective his ball-handling and burst are for getting to spots and putting pressure on the defense and rim. He’ll draw interest from lottery teams that covet more creation and speed and ultimately see upside in the flashes of three-level shot making that suggest there’s room to improve his shooting.

20. Miami Heat (via Warriors): Will Riley (Illinois, SF)

  • Previous mock position: No. 21
  • Size: 6’8″, 180 lbs
  • Age: 19
  • Nationality: Canada
  • Pro Comparison: Kyshawn George

Will Riley looked sharper during the second half of Illinois’ regular season, capping it off with a 22-point game and some high-level shot making against Purdue.
Aside from scoring with more confidence, he also showed encouraging growth as a playmaker by using his dribble and gravity to set up teammates. Still, teams will likely see more of a long-term project, and he could raise some eyebrows at the NBA combine after last measuring a negative wingspan.

biggest need pg take the best one avail

SunManFromDogBone

Or trade for the best PG available. Hopefully not a one-way, volume chucking, no defense ball hog. 15-20 ppg, 6-8 apg with good defense or the ability to play solid defense within the Heat’s scheme would be good.

Miami Heat fans have learned a tough lesson about their team this seasonThe Heat need a wakeup call. (FANSIDED 03/02/25)

“The most frustrating thing for me this season is that Pat Riley hasn’t said much to the media about the Butler situation and why they didn’t trade him in the offseason when anyone who follows this team could see it was time for a change.

Spoelstra’s press conferences have also been pretty disappointing. If you’ve watched him over the years, you know he doesn’t share much information, often talking about the process and focusing on the main goals. This season, his press conferences have been some of the most frustrating sound bites I can remember.

As I mentioned earlier, Miami has blown several double-digit leads this year. Spoelstra has made comments like, “This is an opportunity for all of us to face our demons and get past this. This is not comfortable for any of us. But I see something amazing on the other side.”

While that’s nice to hear early in the season, I don’t want to hear it anymore when they keep making the same mistakes. I think that’s pretty much the definition of insanity. I don’t want to be a downer, but it’s hard not to feel frustrated with how the season is going.”

SunManFromDogBone

😂 You mean Uncan (no D) Robinson, don’t you?

Stick with me kid. I’ll fix that brain of yours one way or another, even if it takes a lobotomy! It’ll just take time.

Never forget:

“If you can’t be an athlete, you can always be an athletic supporter.”
“If you can think positively during negative times, you’ve already won!”😉
Sucks I won’t be able to watch the game tonight. It’s blacked out in San Diego area because we are supposedly in the marketing region for local broadcasters (which don’t carry the game).😭

get me a ss and it will be fixed.until then just call me the dunce of hhh

SunManFromDogBone

Lighten up on yourself. You’re alright most of the time. I don’t care what RC says. Winning cures most problems. Until this team wins something, none of us will be satisfied.

rc and i once enemies now cool with each other .he was a dunc guy i was a strus guy thats how we met now friends for heat life

SunManFromDogBone

Cool. No need to fight amongst ourselves when the real enemies are Boston and New York. Jus sayin.

SunManFromDogBone

Miami’s next 9 games are against the Clippers, Celtics, Grizzlies, Knicks, Pistons, Rockets, Hornets, Warriors and Hawks. It’s conceivable the (29-35) Heat can lose 7 or more of those games, which would bring the season’s record to 31-42. Not exactly the record of a contending team. Now we will find out what this team is made of. If pride and determination don’t motivate them, nothing will.

“You never know how strong you are, until being strong is your only option”

vagibugi

exactly. But positive score could be a good sign.

SunManFromDogBone

Yes. Right now a win or any other good sign whatsoever will be welcome.

  • The Heat has lost 17 games this year when they have been ahead by double figures.
  • The team has also lost a league-high 11 times this season when leading after three quarters, the third most in any season in franchise history, so far.
  • Furthermore, they’ve lost nine games after leading by at least 15 points, three of those coming in a nine-day span that ended Monday.

when tyler herro and bam are your 2 dawgs u are a playin team.when u have a motivated jimmy u have a chance to win it all.oh what a ss would do for this mediocre team.one fkn player can take this team to another level or two.these games the only reason to watch is to see the g leaguers and pelle,i love pelles tenacity not sure about his offense.the rest dunc hh burks jovic can take a hike.im looking for a better jjj next year

SunManFromDogBone

Although Johnson has been treated like a G Leaguer by Spo, he has actually been on a standard NBA contract since December 26, 2024. I’m more than ready to see him get a shot at playing a few games before the end of the season in order to see what he can do at the NBA level. I have a gut feeling he is going to be a natural.

heatforlife

we know what we have in players 5=15 not very good.time to see what gleaguers can do im more excited about stevens and josh

heatforlife

bams gotta realize 20-25 pts not enough he needs to be joel embid and get us 30 35a night.until then hes just a good player
