Giannis Antetokounmpo recorded his second straight and the Milwaukee Bucks were able to overcome a 10-point second-half deficit to defeat the Miami Heat in overtime 121-115.

Following a historic 35-17-20 stat line on Thursday, Antetokounmpo tallied 36 points, 15 rebounds and 10 assists–with 24 of those points coming in the second half.

The nine-time All-Star and former Defensive Player of the Year award winner also took out Bam Adebayo, who posted his seventh 30-point performance of the season, for most of the second half after Adebayo lit Milwaukee up like a Christmas tree in the first half.

The Heat were missing both Tyler Herro and Andrew Wiggins, who missed his fifth-straight game due to injury on Saturday. Milwaukee was missing Damian Lillard, who suffered a blood clot in his calf in late March, and Bobby Portis, who is undergoing a 25-game suspension for violating the NBA’s anti-drug policy.

Despite an inopportune second half, where he was limited to just points on 4-of-14 shooting, Adebayo finished with 31 points and 12 rebounds on 11-of-25 shooting. Alec Burks, starting in the place of Herro, had a season-high 24 points on 6-of-14 from 3-point range while Davion Mitchell had 20 points and five dimes in 39 minutes off the bench.

Mitchell and Burks were two of the most reliable cogs all night, but neither consistently made big plays down the stretch when Miami went away from Adebayo.

Kyle Anderson also provided an important boost off the bench, hauling down 14 rebounds–including four offensive–with 12 points in 32 minutes. The Heat’s rookies struggled, as Kel’el Ware struggled to stay out of foul trouble and Pelle Larsson couldn’t make a shot.

For the game, the Heat shot 42.2 percent and 32.6 percent from 3-point range; the Bucks shot 51.7 percent despite making just eight 3-pointers. Milwaukee dominated at the rim–outscoring the Heat by 36 in that area–and from the free-throw line, finishing a plus-nine.

Miami already solidified a play-in spot, while Milwaukee clinched a top-6 spot earlier in the day. Saturday’s win against the Heat completed the season sweep, dropping them to eight games below .500.

The difference will be even bigger, when Curry, KD and LBJ are gone.

Playing out the last 1 week will show how smart the guys at Biscayne Blvd are . There are two choices. Either making noise to go nowhere at the risk of major injuries to your assets or wisely navigating for the 2 picks in the first round of the draft.

Today, is the second time I looked at the League standings this season. I was surprised to see the Houston Rockets who have largely flown under the radar sitting on the 2nd position in the Western conference. I Love it.

Hope the Heat will not tread the path of much ado about nothing this week. Doing so is not a strategy of cowardice, doing otherwise will be reckless bravado.

Go Heat, Go!

houst sucked for to long id lose interest in the heat if they were that bad.id rather be competitive every year and get a free agent or a great trade .fk the way houston took to many lean years hard to listen to e reid when your team suks for years

Alien

Yes, they sucked for many years but seems like they might be getting their acts together,

ManilaHeat

Lets go Gators! 😁

SunManFromDogBone

It is what it is. If the team cannot get 100% healthy by the play-in round, the odds are they will not make the playoffs. Whatever happens, as long as the guys give it their all, I’ll be good with that. If Miami gets two first round picks this summer, it will be a great time to commit to a re-tooling/re-building process. The team will have this summer, next season and next summer to clean house and rebuild the team around it’s young core.

wiggins injuries really dissapointing one after the other..prob need to let him go or use him in a trade.looks very injury prone now.

Hothothoopsfan4life

Again when I said the exact same thing I was met with paragraph after paragraph about how he isn’t injury prone how he plays 70 games/his father died/baby mama cheated blah blah blah I said even the warriors fans complained about that not from no small contingent but from their golden state of mind blog. Would much rather got kuminga than Wiggins especially at that age. It is what it is though

heatforlife

im sure they asked for kuminga.wiggins scores the same amount of pts as jimmy but jimmy impacts winning lot more than wiggy, wiggy is a finesse player doesnt like to get dirty

SunManFromDogBone

Not the dogging/quiet quitting version Miami got this year. That version was a gold bricking spoiled quitter who turned his back on his teammates and Heat fans. What a giant @$$hole! Glad the MFer is gone.

heatforlife

i thought jimmy was actually done,or he was hurt neither was the case.the end is nearing for him the sooner the better as far as im concerned.how anybody even his new teammates can respect him is hard to believe.i guess winning trumps class

heat for life

i wish it didnt have to come to this.but the haul pat got has lessened the blow

Bout30man

It would be nice if we could see how we would do this year in the playoffs but the truth is that we are just a little bit short of being able to really be back in the picture. People should take heart as these two draft picks, if selected wisely, could be enough to get there. We are lucky as it can take a few seasons to rebound when a team undergoes trading the centerpiece of the franchise.
I think, despite this loss, that we are playing our best basketball of the season. It’s interesting that Butler is improving the Warriors, and at the same time the players we got for him have made us better than earlier this season when Jimmy was on our team. And we still got a pick coming.
Things are looking up again.

vagibugi

Right now the result is a secondary thing. I like to see Pelle playing a lot, despite being off.

I m really impressed with Mitchell. One the kind player, especially defensively.

heatforlife

wonder if he played like this in sac or toronto.or is it heat culture brings the best out of players

heatforlife

improving the warriors an understatement.gave them a belief they can win it all.quitter steph dra bout as good a 3 some there is

heatforlife

houst was just to athletic for duke .just like milw vs dunc and pelle

heatforlife

dont watch lot college ball cooper flagg little overrated maybe

heatforlife

houst out athleticizing duke wow.cooper flagg looks like a tall dunc robinson

heatforlife

bam has a habit of disappearing in the second half .like to know his stats in first half compared to decond half.erics over use of the swedish sensation cost us the game .u substitute 15 of pelles minutes u got a w.coach was on a winning streak when dunc was out since dunc d back 2 ls,
