A lot of talk is expressed about playing Johnson, Stevens, and Christopher. I am hoping they get a chance, the sooner the better. It would be a silver lining if we are to fall out of the playoff race.
Spo is very reluctant to play these players or inject new players into the lineup in general. I wish he would, particularly when we fall 25 points behind, which could happen against OKC. He could try at least some of them out in that situation, and then put them in in higher leverage scenarios.
Also, some chatter about a Marcus Smart buyout, but I am resisting getting excited.
Miami Heat plus minus worst –
Jaquez -149, Rozier -103, Jovic -33, J-rich -31.
Warriors plus minus worst:
Dennis Schroeder -130
Jackson-Davis -86
Kyle Anderson -70
Andrew Wiggins -55
Wiggins is now -77 and Anderson is -84.
Somehow the warriors off loaded three other four worst plus minus guys, for Miami’s best player and a protected draft pick. I know plus minus has a lot of factors, but the fact is warriors off loaded a bunch of guys who were playing losing basketball, and Miami is still playing the guys who played losing basketball for them prior the the trade and added the guys who played losing basketball to the team.
All in all, this was the perfect season to tank, but they won too many games early and now we have another play in game starring at us. This franchise is in ruins if you have any expectations of them competing against the nba’s best like I had been spoiled into believing they could due to the Hardaway/Mourning years, the James/Wade/Bosh years and even the flukey Butler/adebayo years. But over the last 3-4 years the disparity between the nba’s elite and Miami’s roster has become glaringly evident.

Look at the bright side.
If Golden State makes the playoffs, Miami will likely receive a 2025 #15 – #20 draft pick. If Golden State makes the play-in round but does not make it to the playoffs, Miami will likely receive a #11 – #14 pick (if Golden State does not land in the top 10)
If Miami does not make the playoffs, it gets to keep it’s 2025 (lottery) draft pick. Best case scenario, Miami could wind up with it’s own #1 – #14 lottery pick and Golden State’s #11 – #15 pick.
If the Heat can draft a PG and a back-up C, plus trade for another starter or bring in a free agent (or two) the team can be in much better shape a year from now.

All true. What also is true is that we are two players upgrade of our top eight, including one starter, from being competitive against the best in the East. We fell so far behind because we never tanked. Now we are deeply entrenched in mediocrity.
Tatum basically matching Miami by himself this quarter. Everyone else on Boston is gravy.

He did the best he could. It’s more the overall approach. Never tanking makes you so dependent on a whale to carry you while the supporting cast gets more and more unviable. That is why going into the year many of us were begging for a Butler trade and a tank this season. Now, only way back to the top is with a whale. And, you have to be very careful to maintain your flexibility by not signing players for untradeable contracts that make the team unable to pounce when the whale becomes available .

We are watching how a superstar, an A+ player, can carry a team. We used to have that and it covered many flaws. The player we traded was no longer capable of this Tatum level performance. Bam still fighting but there isn’t enough support. This kind of tells you where we really are at.

Calling for more minutes for this guy or that guy still misses the point. All of those guys are role players. This team needs two legitimate scorers and they only have one in Tyler and he’s not playing. Somebody need to get hot and hope Celtics shoot like they did in the 1st quarter.
