After the shorthanded Miami Heat nearly pulled off an impressive upset over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday night, they will be back in action. It will be the first of a back-to-back set at home— beginning with hosting the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The Timberwolves are coming off a win over the Charlotte Hornets, but have gone just 5-5 over their last 10 games. Each of the Timberwolves and Heat are sitting at the 7th seed of their respective conferences; fighting for postseason positioning.
Miami will surely have their hands full in containing the superstar powers of Anthony Edwards. The rising 23 year-old is currently sporting averages of 27.5 points, 5.9 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 1.2 steals on 44% shooting. Over the last week alone, he has averaged 30.3 points.
However, the Heat have been getting dominant outings from their own star in Bam Adebayo. In Cleveland on Monday night, he dropped a team-high 34 points, 12 rebounds double-double to go along with 5 assists, 2 steals and 11 of 18 shooting. He also went 3 of 5 from 3-point range.
Over Adebayo’s last 17 games, he has turned a corner. The big man has averaged 22.4 points, 10.4 rebounds and 4.1 assists on 56% from the field and 41% from deep in that span.
It is still unknown if he will be getting his co-star back tonight, as Tyler Herro is listed as questionable with an illness. Additionally, Kel’el Ware will remain sidelined with his knee injury.

This Heat season has been a complete disaster. Riley, Spo, Rozier…total mess.
Benching Terry Rozier is the only way the Heat can turn things aroundThe Miami Heat have a serious Terry Rozier problem, and are at risk of stunting the rest of the team’s growth with him in the lineup.
Rozier was averaging a career-high 23.2 points, 6.6 assists and nearly 4.0 rebounds on 46% shooting and 36% from 3-point range in his final stint with the Hornets. The problem is that Miami received a shell of that version of him. Those stats have dipped all the way down to 11.8 points (his lowest since 2018) and 2.8 assists on 39.9% from the field and 29.4% from deep, which is the lowest since his rookie year.
