Butler had already quit last season. It was not about what Riley said. That may have exacerbated it, but it wasn’t the reason that he quit. Don’t you remember going to the tennis matches and then calling in sick? Or taking multiple days off for personal reasons? Or not appearing to make much effort on many of the games he did play last season?

Butler was an ahole first. More than a year ago, I was calling him out for lack of effort. He totally quit first. Riley didn’t make it better with his comments, but Butler had already checked out. He wanted the $100 million extension and didn’t get it. Thank goodness.
The put down comment, which was well deserved, was not the big deal as much as the crummy team around him that he couldn’t carry anymore. I always say,,to much disagreement,,the core issue was Pat never supplied enough around Jimmy as Jimmy was losing a step. You can see it right now, Jimmy’s impact. Jimmy scored in single digits last night and still they beat the Kings in a blowout. Do you think Golden State is that much better? I think they are a little as they have another low A+ player( just like Jimmy, he was a high A+) in Curry, but they lost a valuable player in Wiggins and the rest of that team is only a tiny bit better than us. All Pat had to do was give Jimmy some semblance of a supporting cast. In todays nba, like hfl says, if your best player is an A- to B+ player, like Bam or Ty, or Andrew, you are in trouble. Pat had three years to add not a whale, but at least an A player more and never did. That is why I blame Pat for everything that went wrong lately, while I also appreciate all he did right before.

That’s exactly how I feel. They are just not as good as most other teams right now. The effort is often there, the ability and the spark of a dominating player is not there.

Staying with the C’s for three is a good, gutsy effort. But, coming away with the W will be a much tougher challenge. This game, if still close, will tighten up with five minutes left and only the best players will rise to the top.

The difference between Tatum and everyone else is starting to show. Other guys can score, but none are unstoppable and they usually need to be open. Tatum doesn’t need any help creating his own shot. And,,he will miss shots for awhile, but not forever.
Holiday is having a great game tonite and he does that a lot, but not every night like Tatum.

I never complain about Ty, Davion, Wiggins, Bam, Ware, or Burks as a reserve. Or Pelle getting a chance. I complain when Dunc or Nico aren’t hitting shots because they hurt us on d when missing. I complain about Dunc and Terry’s contract because we can get better value.

Maybe, but imo, the issue with the Bam/Ware combo is Ware, not Bam. Needs to be more aggressive, assertive. It’s why he’s pulled out periodically.
