GAME PREVIEW: Heat to travel to MSG to face New York Knicks

The most difficult stretch of the Miami Heat’s 2024-25 continues with a road matchup against the third seed Knicks. Miami is in the midst of a now seven-game skid, and losers of 14 of their last 18. (Photo via Imagn Images)

The losing woes are still ongoing for the Miami Heat, who are currently riding a seven-game losing streak. Their most recent loss to the Memphis Grizzlies without Ja Morant was just one of their embarrassing efforts this season.

They have dropped to 29-38 on the season and have slipped down in the Eastern Conference playoff race. And instead of postseason games to look forward to, many of the fanbase is instead directing the focus to this year’s NBA draft and summer acquisitions.

For tonight, the Heat will face yet another daunting task against the third seed New York Knicks on the road.

Miami is 0-2 against New York this season with a four-point overtime loss and nine-point loss in their previous matchups. Additionally, they are just 3-7 against the Knicks in their last 10 games played against each other.

However, the Knicks will be without the services of their All-Star point guard Jalen Brunson— who has been sidelined with an ankle injury. Other than Brunson, everybody in New York’s rotation is expected to be available. Andrew Wiggins is listed as questionable for Miami.

Tonight’s game inside Madison Square Garden will be nationally televised on ESPN.

I’m going to watch. Even a few minutes of good play will be nice to see.

Lets go tank!
….I mean Heat!! 😜

Reality Czech

Last night:
Stevens 7pts, 1 rebound, 12 assists, 3 steals
Keshad 29 pts, 7 rebounds, 1 assist, 3 blocks
Christopher (poor shooting) 12 pts, 3 rebounds, 6 assists
Nassir 26 pts, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal, 1 block
Alondes man-man 19 pts, 4 rebounds, 9 assists 1 steal

We really need to know which of these guys can really contribute on the Heat. As I’ve said from the beginning, Keshad looks like the most NBA ready.

Why in TF are Johnson, Stevens and Christopher back in Sioux Falls? They need NBA playing time and experience. What better time than now, in the middle of a major Clusterf***? WTF is Spo doing? Please don’t tell me he still thinks the team has “enough” to compete with the NBA’s elite teams, cuz it sure AF doesn’t!

GO SKYFORCE!!!

I think these are all very relevant questions. I share your confusion, because I have no idea what our management and head coach are trying to do. And I am not sure that even they have a clue at this stage. If I were to guess, I’d say tanking is not an option for Pat so Spo is trying to turn things around and what we’re seeing is his best effort. Sounds crazy?

Hey now, take a few deep breaths to keep that blood pressure down. But you are exactly right. The team has to make important decisions on these guys in just a few short weeks. How can they possibly tell who they should keep and who they should move on from if they are not putting them in regular season games??Keshad (regular contract), Christopher, and Stevens need to be on the court now. Any belief that this team could make and do any damage in the playoffs is pure folly, so what are they waiting for?

Sharkey

It’s funny that as bad as we are, we are still likely to at least reach the play in.

That’s because the #7 – #15 teams in the East suck big time. The #7 team in the East (Atlanta) is 32-36. The #7 team in the West (Minnesota) is 40-29. If it was in the West, Atlanta would be the #11 team, 1/2 game ahead of #12 Phoenix.

Breakthrough game?
Its too much to expect a win for once?
Heat are not wizards, after all.

Probably not going to happen against the Knicks if we couldn’t beat Charlotte.

To quote Tom Petty: “Even the losers get lucky sometimes.”

A lost season. Agree with majority that Riley magic has gone poof. Spo may just resign out of utter confusion. No worries about tanking…it’s happening on it’s own.
