In case you haven’t heard yet, the Miami Heat snapped their 10-game win streak! They won a basketball game! A double-digit lead was not blown! Who could’ve thought?!
Ironically enough, their 17-point win over the lowly Charlotte Hornets Sunday evening came ahead of their highly anticipated date Tuesday against Jimmy Butler and the Golden State Warriors—his first matchup against the Heat post-trade.
Butler, 35, has seen great success in his first 19 games with the Warriors, who are still jostling for a top-6 seed in the West. In games that he has played, the team is 16-3 while he’s posting averages of 17.6 points, 6.1 rebounds and 6.5 assists, impacting winning in-between the gaps of superstar Stephen Curry and Draymond Green.
When asked about his return, Butler did his best to downplay it — as well as the overall success that he had over his five-and-a-half seasons with Miami.
“I love that fanbase,” Butler said. “They showed me a lot of love while I was there. But I’m there to win now, I’m the opposing team.
“We was aight. We didn’t win nothing like we was supposed to. We made some cool runs, we had some fun, I think that’s all we did.”
The six-time All-Star is still understandably in the honeymoon phase with his new team, though he did have the most success he’s had in his career with the Heat.
We could sit here and debate all day whether or not he should or should’ve gotten more help, whether it was attainable and fixate over the plenty of “what-ifs” over his Heat tenure.
But he won two Eastern Conference Titles and led the franchise to heights nobody thought was possible upon his arrival. Heck, the historically great playoff run in 2022-23 as an 8-seed may never be replicated again. I could go on. You don’t hang banners for that—winning championships is the obvious goal—but that’s not nothing. He may never see that kind of success again.
We can all agree that the end of his time with Miami left a sour taste in everyone’s mouth—from the front office to players, fans, etc. Tuesday should be an interesting ride gor everyone involved with plenty of emotion. That’s for sure.

Jimmy hits the game winner for GSW 😳
The blame would be squarely on your shoulders!
Last stop on this year’s “Jimmy Butler F*** You Miami Tour.” I wonder which Jimmy will show up…one of these ones or just the quiet quitter?

Okay, just for fun. And possibly irritation. Skyforce tonight:
Keshad – 19 points, 13 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals.
Stevens – 14 points, 10 rebounds, 17 assists!!!!!!
Christopher – 28 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal, 1 block.
Think we should have an opportunity to see what they can do with the big club? I do.
Keshad can play either forward position. Built like Butler 6’7″ 230 lbs. I wish Spo would give him a shot. What a waste.
u cant sell me on the swedish sensation better baller than the above 3.the heat are run poorly now .erics use of personnel.pats acquiring of talent.we are fkd.giving a guy big $$ who cant play a lick of d and continuously putting his sorry ass d out there.acquiring a guy that looks like hes missing on purpose.acquiring a turtle.keeping love trading bryant..trotting out non athletic stiffs like jjj dunc every friggin night.we deserve to be a 10th seed team led by 80yrold man and a robotic coach no feel for game and rotations.the stench of pat and spobot all over the 24-25 team they both need to go.spobots been here to long need a new voice
Good article here by Matt capturing the entirety of the myriad feelings we have about Jimmy. Especially notable is the remarkable eighth seed playoff run. When recalling those times, it’s hard to not have a little gratitude for the man even after things ended so poorly.
There is an excellent article on the espn app about tanking.
Idk if that tanking article is the same one I seen on bleacher report, but after this season, silver will have a meeting about possibly changing the draft, tank, lottery process again. With teams tanking in a deep draft this year. So tanking this year, is even more important knowing that.
Yes, and they explained that to win a championship, by far the most common path is to draft between one and three. BTW, there have been many misses in those rounds too. But, pretty much you have to be bad to eventually win. So teams tank and to lose they tank against the other bad teams by not playing their stars or playing them only a limited amount of time.
If anybody believes that this game is not a big deal for Butler, I have a bridge in the New York City area that I want to talk to you about selling.
That game is definitely a big deal, and I will be there tomorrow for work, while watching most of the game.
Mum, hov ar yu. Im fain here in koria. her is a pictere of a bridg I bout. its min now. say hello to mi sister too.
Wasnt that from MASH (the book)?
Not sure, but it’s been a saying here since the Brooklyn Bridge was built.
Never heard.
Yoo have a Golden gate, too?
I would buy it and give it to Jimmy in exchange to stay there forever.
Haha. They may have already given him that as a gift since he decided to give his best effort there (unfortunately not here).
Jimmy is like an adolescent boy who acts a fool in order to piss off his current girlfriend until she eventually dumps him so that can be free to pursue another girl. When asked what happened, he responds: “I don’t know. She broke up with me.” At first, he puts his best foot forward with the new girlfriend and pretends to be someone he isn’t. That eventually wears off and he starts looking around for another “new girl.” He then repeats the process. This has been Butler’s m. o. since his Chicago and Minnesota days. Right now he is in the “putting his best foot forward” stage with the Warriors. It will be interesting to see if it lasts until his contract expires or if he will start slacking off as he did with Miami and begin the process of “looking around.” Time will tell. I’m just glad the drama queen isn’t our problem.
