Being another efficient night from Tyler Herro, the Miami Heat completely dominated the beleaguered Philadelphia 76ers, 118-95, inside Wells Fargo Center Saturday evening.
Herro finished with a game-high 30 points on 11-of-17 shooting and 5-of-9 from 3-point range. While his efficiency and decision-making have been huge question marks (of mine) for each of the last three months, the 6-foot-5 guard is averaging 28.8 points on absurd 66.7/62.5/94.1 shooting splits over his last four games–in addition to 3.8 rebounds and 5.3 assists in 36.6 minutes per game.
Those four games unsurprisingly led to four Heat victories. Saturday night’s win also saw huge contributions from Alec Burks, who started his third straight game, and rookie Pelle Larsson, who made his third start of the season.
Burks finished with 20 points on 6-of-12 from 3-point range while Larsson filled up the stat sheet with 14 points, six rebounds, four assists, four steals and two blocks on 5-of-11 shooting. Kel’el Ware posted his 12th double-double of the season with 13 points and 14 rebounds on a perfect 6-of-6 shooting.
Miami shot 47.3 percent from the floor and continued its surge from 3-point range, knocking down 20 of its 43 attempts (46.5 percent) from distance. It marked the team’s fifth game with at least 20 made triples this season, the first since Feb. 26 against the Hawks (23-42).
Saturday was the seventh-straight loss for the lowly 76ers, who are doing their best to keep their top-6 protected pick. Miami, meanwhile, improved to 33-41, 0.5 game back of the Chicago Bulls for the No. 9 seed at the time of this publishing.
The Heat will continue their three-game road trip on Monday against the Washington Wizards followed by a date with the reigning champion Celtics on Wednesday.

Miami is probably looking at an 8 man rotation, at maximum, in the postseason. I think the rotation will initially be the following players (list includes their 3 point percentages):
Alternates/reserves (in order of 3 point percentages):
If Burks, Highsmith and/ or Robinson are struggling, Spo can select the appropriate substitutions to replace them from the list of alternates/reserves. Personally, I think the three reserves who have 3 point percentages below 30% (Rozier, Jaquez and Johnson), should only be used in case of emergency or when a game is a blowout.
no d no play .cant play dunc .he suks so bad defensively cant have him in.slo mo solid nba smart vet .f dunc.one reason we are winning no dunc d
Duncan and Burks can only play if they are hitting threes. If both are hot, play them both. If both are cold, take them/keep them out. If one is hot and one is cold, it’s an easy call. Unless you are down by a ton and need a bunch of 3’s, never/ever play them together.
not true dunc cant guard burks can
True. Burks average. Robinson below average. Use Burks and Robinson if Burks is cold.
what players have not played during this 4 game winning streak
Out of the last 15 games, including the losing streak, Duncan is playing better D than Burks by hair according to NBA advanced stats. Not only that but slightly better than last 15 games for the overall season, .086 WS for Dunc vs .081 for Burks. Good to see your eyes are still B&J
Good win.
But still, that winning streak doesn’t change anything.
Boston game will tell, where this team is .
Upon looking at the remaining schedule, as soft as ours is, the Bull’s is even softer. We may end up playing them in Chicago. I will enjoy that game and I still favor us against them. But we better lose that one because in my opinion we have an even better chance against Atlanta or Orlando. I know a lot of you disagree and want us to make the playoffs, but I’d rather have the pick.
I”know a lot of you disagree and want us to make the playoffs, but I’d rather have the pick.”
Agreed there is no point in this team making the playoffs this year only to be out in 4/5 games, wishful thinking and super optimistic aside the team still needs talent
Yes, as I’ve stated multiple times, I want them to play hard, but getting 2 picks in this draft would help the future of this team. Hfl thinks they can compete with any team in the east. I know they’ve improved, but I don’t see them at that level. We will find out soon.
if he plays the right guys we can compete with bost cleve.keep dunc terry jjj off the ct/pelle can be used he has hfls permission
Like I said, we will soon find out.
wiggy gotta be healthy.if not no shot to beat boston.if healthy with our d we can hang with the cs
Like I said, we will soon find out
Maybe for a half. Jury is still out re: turd quarters and 4th quarter collapses. When they have overcome those against a few of the better teams, we’ll have an idea about how far this team can go. The 3 upcoming games in four days against Boston, Memphis and Milwaukee (April 2-5) should tell us everything we need to know.
Boston with white and holiday will make it tough on ty.Unfort ty still is a below average defender so that is a big boston advantage. All of their players are 2 wayers.Everybody of the great eight are 2 wayers except ty.White has had some big games versus us.Of course boston is prob better but the gap has narrowed.with the great 8 When we had jimmy it was even steven .Wiggy dawg and slomo equal jimmy.i feel.
I think it’s a win/win situation.
At this point I want them to get the 10-seed and have the worst record possible going into the draft. Last year Atlanta went from the play-in to the #1 pick. I wouldn’t mind a shot at Cooper Flagg.
That said, if they win 2 play-in games and make the playoffs, I won’t be made about it.
I am halfway there. If they win their way into the playoffs, I will be proud about the bounce back from a tumultuous season. If they then get their butts kicked in the first round, I will be mad and disappointed about missing a golden opportunity just to play 3 or 4 more meaningless games.
If this team makes it into the playoffs, it probably means they are playing good team basketball. If the team Miami faces (Cleveland or Boston) is not playing well, they have a chance to shock some folks (like they did in 2020 and 2023).
In sports, like life, anything is possible. I will be happy if that happens and will give everyone and the team their props, but, I am sorry to say, I am not a believer at this point.
when u are blowing people out u are good.how many blowouts did we have prior to this 4 game run.diff team wo terry 55 jjj love.just watch the great 8 looks like diff team from first 65 games.when u get switched out on d everybody can guard excpet ty..when u make it hard for the other team to score good things happen.i wish 55 would have improved his d over the years but it never happened
The team is playing their best ball of the season, but I can’t reach a judgment on a four game winning streak that has not been against top teams. Let’s see what happens against Boston, Memphis, and Milwaukee. Ultimately, though, regrettably, I think I will be right about this
I also want the pick and think the season has played out where we were able to get young guys experience.
Culture thumps Process. Again. Maybe always lol
I don’t hate, but greatly dislike Philly teams the most. If any of you know people from there like I do, having married into a family of them, they are more emotional in general than Miamians as a group, very loving people on their good side, but incredibly critical and negative on their bad side.
theyre prob still on an eagle high.
Tyler Herro has played consistently like an all star in the last few games.
Larson continues to impress me. He reads the game very well both on offense and defense. He reminds me of JJ Reddick the current coach of the Lakers in his playing days. I think Larsson will be a far better player as he gets more NBA playing time.
Likewise, Ware is making good strides.
Again, thanks, Coach Spo, for letting them learn from real games situations on the court instead of sitting them on the bench because they are rookies.
Kudos to the Heat for these picks. I remember being so excited about these guys during the 2024/2025 training camp.
I remain excited .
Well said.
I think most of us went into this season looking at this team as a rebuild. The Jimmy drama dropped a bomb into the middle of the season, and the 10-game losing streak was an inevitable result from that.
I think this team is loaded with young talent, and Riley doesn’t get nearly enough credit for rebuilding this team so quickly after multiple years in the Finals/Conference Finals. I’m sure the Wizards or Hornets had the same roster as Miami, people would be gushing over this team.
If the Heat make the play-in but not the playoffs, they’ll be picking around 10th. Plus the Warriors pick around 20th. I think the Heat have proven over the past 5-6 years that they can find quality players around those picks.
On top of that, Duncan and Rozier are expiring contracts next season, and Wiggins the following season.
The Heat are one trade away from being back at the top of the conference.
Hope so
One trade away. That sounds right. As long as they don’t weaken too much while they strengthen. For example, some in San Fran feel they gave the wrong player up for a Jimmy.
I thought Jimmy was willing to have an eff-you season with us, and that Pelle and Ware could provide skill sets in the playoffs we’ve needed, size and athleticism and shooting, against Boston and Denver and LA.
I was wrong on the most important front. (And everyone but Tyler got off to such a slow start.)
I don’t think we’re a trade away, because what is the trade? (The answer is Luka but… Yeah…)
We are saying one trade away if we pick up two solid draft picks.
reddick mainly 3 pt specialist soft player.pelle is rugged as they come.pelles more of a thunder dan type player
Good analogy.
