The Miami Heat made history in latest double-digit win over Celtics

Just like everyone could’ve predicted, the Miami Heat have won six-straight games after losing 10 straight, most recently upsetting the Boston Celtics 124-103 inside TD Garden despite missing Andrew Wiggins and Duncan Robinson.

All things considered, it’s up there with one of the best victories of the season. The Celtics were winners of nine straight and 14 of their last 15 entering Wednesday night. They were also victors in six straight regular-season and 10 of their last 11 overall matchups against Miami. At least it tallied one more on the board.

Miami’s current six-game win streak is its longest of the season. But as the result of its shocking 21-point win Wednesday, the Heat became the first team in NBA History to notch this specific feat.

Heat etched themselves into the history books after Wednesday’s 21-point win over Celtics:

While Miami was the third team in NBA History to win six-straight games following 10 or more consecutive losses, they were the first team to record six-straight double-digit wins after losing 10 straight, according to Associated Press’ Tim Reynolds.

It has won each of its last six games by an average of 20.5 points. Here’s how each has panned out:

  • 17-point win over Charlotte Hornets
  • 26-point win over Golden State Warriors
  • 10-point win over Atlanta Hawks
  • 23-point win over Philadelphia 76ers
  • 26-point win over Washington Wizards
  • 21-point win over Boston Celtics

The Miami Heat’s 10-game losing streak in March was the worst of Erik Spoelstra’s career. Now, they are playing their best basketball of the season. Over their last six, Tyler Herro, Bam Adebayo, Davion Mitchell, Andrew Wiggins, Alec Burks and Pelle Larsson, among others, have all stepped up in myriad ways.

The Heat is shooting a league-best 46.9 percent from deep with the league’s best offense and second-best defense over that small sample. They are also No. 9 in rebound percentage with the second-highest opponents’ turnover rate and 12th-best assist-to-turnover rate. That’s a winning formula. While it may not be super sustainable, there’s nothing wrong with playing your best basketball of the season when the calendar turns April.

What do you make of the Heat’s historical feat? Let us know in the comments!

If they win the next 4 making it 10 straight, for me it rivals the 30-11 team of 2017.

A reminder that the 90’s Knicks had a better record when Ewing was injured than when he played.

I agree with your assertion that Duncan Robinson is the same quality of player as Patrick Ewing.

yeah, I think the Jimmy situation threw the entire season into chaos. But I just looked at the standings, and the Heat are a 1.5 games back of the Magic for the 7-seed. When all is said and done, the Heat might very well finish the regular season with the same seed as the two previous seasons! Re-enforcing what we’ve said all along. The Heat are a play-in team with our without Jimmy Butler. At least now the rebuild is in full swing.
