The Heat were punched in the mouth today. Now we will see how they respond. Herro, Wiggins and Mitchell must step up their drives into the paint to draw fouls and/or to facilitate assists. They must all bring their “A” games next time. Today, the only team playing with a sense of urgency was Cleveland. That can’t happen again or this is going to be a short series.

Before the playoffs, you, SunMan, and I were among a number of people who expressed a preference for the pick over entering the playoffs as a huge underdog. The team went ahead and won those 2 games to get in. I think he is just playing the cards that were dealt. We’re stuck here now. The Mavericks now have the #11 pick. We will see who is available when that pick comes up. Worse yet, if that slot moves into a top 4 pick, we will all know what a lost opportunity this was.
You aren’t supposed to feel good about getting bounced in the first round even if you get beat by a better overall team which is playing better basketball.
Next game, Miami has to adjust to what the Cavs are doing successfully. The bench also has to do better. Other than Mitchell, the other second unit rotation members need to step up their games. This is the playoffs. You either give it everything you have and play with a sense of urgency or you get bounced in 4 or 5 games and dwell on it all offseason. The team that plays with more aggression and energy is going to win the series. 100% effort by everyone for 48 minutes, nothing less.
There are at least 2-3 hungry players on the bench who can play aggressively if the current rotation is not effective (Jaquez, Larsson and Johnson). That’s what they are there for. Maybe start Mitchell and have him relieved by Larsson instead of Burks. Same with Robinson and Johnson.
Deciding to quit rather than compete is like taking crack. Once you start you can’t stop. If you’re going to tank why go small. Let it all hang out.

Heat fought well till the 3rd quarter. Don’t want to use successive games as an excuse but Cavs are #1 in east for a reason. 2 days rest will be good for these tired bunch. Im rooting for 7 games. Go Heat!

They hung in there for 3 quarters. Assuming they lose in the first round, it will be a huge lost opportunity, despite what hfl might say. For weeks, all we’ve been hearing is the ‘new’ team can beat anyone in the east. I hoped he was right, but it doesn’t appear that way. And instead of admitting he may have been wrong, he says watching a few more Heat games is worth it. That’s just not what he was saying before. Let’s see what happens to the team picking 11 and who they get and how that player turns out.

It’s not just Donovan. They have a great team, maybe one of the two best. They have five really good players, including an A+, an A, and two high A-. And then there is Jerome, a high B+. We can’t trade Bam or Ty and weaken ourselves while trying to strengthen. Have to trade amongst JJJ, Jovic, Dunc, Rozier, HH, to get our player. Won’t get an A+ player, but could get another A-. We still need a point guard two way player, and should address our need for another big thru the draft.

You really sound clueless on this issue. Buzelis was a #11 pick. You can get one of those too. Remember names Jase Richardson, Derik Queen, Collin Murray Boyles, because those are players we could have. Plus, you need picks in a trade for your ss. The team has to use players and picks. That’s how it works. Surprised you don’t understand that. Sure, if you can trade Herro or Bam for a top 5-10 player, you consider it unless it guts your team.

80%? I think you picked that number out of thin air. Herro 13, Bam 14, Ware 15. Maybe you won’t get a ss, but add another B+ to A player like those, your team is better. Plus, you add another asset to try to trade for your ss.
