Great win, and historic 1st quarter scoring for us. To top it off multiple players scoring 15+, and special shoutout to the Swedish swish for going for a career high .

Jaime is evolving, growing in confidence. You can hear it in his voice when being interviewed.

Good win. I’m waiting for Ware and Jovic to play up to their potential. They are both too tentative when they should be aggressive and too aggressive when they shouldn’t be.

I guess rebounding isn’t a big issue with Riley or Spo. Team was -20 tonight (57-37) and getting killed on offensive boards.

Jaquez continues to amaze. If he continues playing like this, I can see him being considered for most improved player and/or 6th man of the year.

Powell, Wiggins, Larsson, Mitchell, Smith and Fontecchio are playing well (carrying their weight).

With Bam and Herro the Heat can do some damage…especially if Riley brings in a big who can play defense, rebound and run (like that Diabate dude).

Trailblazers tomorrow. It is not the same team it was a year ago. They’ve knocked off OKC, Denver, Lakers and Golden State so far! The game should be very competitive.

GO HEAT!!!

Nico had his usual up and down game. But, he did have some ups, and two, he had less downs. It’s going to take Nico a longer time than others but there is still a chance he will blossom. Patience is a virtue as he’s still pretty young. Tonite, at least, he was doing a little better and hopefully he will build on it.

Yes, that’s what sometimes happens. It takes time for some players to refine their game and sometimes there isn’t enough playing time available to evolve.

The only one I’ve heard that was better was Chick Hearn. He had a ton of sayings, such as: “The game’s in the refrigerator, the door’s closed, the lights are out, the eggs are cooling, the butter’s getting hard, and the jello’s jiggling”.

Yup. I was spoiled living in L.A. area for several decades and having those two doing the Laker and Dodger games.

“Roberto Clemente could field the ball in New York and throw out a guy in Pittsburgh.”

“The only difference between a winning team and a losing team is one game. The winning team can win two out of three games—the losing team can only win one out of three.”

“Losing feels worse than winning feels good.”

“It’s a mere moment in a man’s life between an All-Star game and an old-timer’s game.”

“That is the way this game is — you win, you lose, you celebrate and you suffer.”

Fernando” ready, and the strike-two pitch is hit back to the box, dribbling to second, (Juan) Samuel on the bag, throws to first for the double play! Fernando Valenzuela has pitched a no-hitter at 10:17 in the evening on June the 29th, 1990. If you have a sombrero, throw it to the sky!”

Chick Hearn also coined these phrases and many others:

“The mustard’s off the hot dog.”: — A player’s flashy or showy move that fails.

“No harm, no foul.”: — A call for a foul that was not significant enough to stop play.

“In and out, heart-brrrreak!”: — A shot that looks good but rattles out of the basket.

“Slaaaaaam Dunk!!!”: — Coined by Hearn for a dunk with power.

“He can’t throw a pea in the ocean.”: — Describes a player or team with terrible shooting accuracy.

“Caught with his hand in the cookie jar.”: — A player is called for a reach-in foul.

“Dribble-drive.”: — Hearn’s term for a player driving to the basket while dribbling.

“He throws up a brick!”: — A shot that misses the rim entirely.

“Picked his pocket.”: — When a player steals the ball from an opponent.

I’m so glad Wiggins is playing so well. We do pay him a lot. And, he’s a very good player, not a great player, but we need him badly on this team even though he probably could never put the team on his back like a superstar. I never want to trade him as I can never see us having five better players.

And we really don’t know how good we can be when Ty comes back. He could make an impact too if used optimally. But, no matter what, we need Goldin to blossom unimaginably fast, or we need another big man, whatever we have to do.

I’m not saying he can’t be a solid backup one day but you saw him in college.

From his scouting report…

Athleticism: His lack of elite agility and speed could make him a liability in fast-paced games or when guarding smaller, quicker players.
