Norman Powell, Heat torch Clippers 140-123

Behind a scorching-hot 3-point shooting night, the Miami Heat dominated the Los Angeles Clippers with a 140-123 win on Monday night inside Kaseya Center.

Monday marked the Heat’s 5th 140-point outing of the season after their previous single season high was two. They also tied their franchise record for most made 3-pointers in a single game this season with 24, converting them at a 52.2 percent clip.

Norman Powell led the charge against his former team. The 11-year veteran scored 30 points on 12-of-18 shooting and 6-of-10 from 3-point range across 32 minutes. Bam Adebayo sunk a season-high five 3-pointers while Tyler Herro and Davion Mitchell drained four treys apiece.

Powell paved the way, but Miami’s starters tallied 117 of the team’s 140 points. Bam Adebayo finished with 27 points and 14 rebounds on 10-of-17 shooting; Andrew Wiggins had 22 points, nine rebounds and three blocks; Tyler Herro had 22 points on 8-of-15 shooting and 4-of-6 from 3-point range. Davion Mitchell also had 16 points on a perfect 6-of-6 shooting with four threes.

It got a little hairy — and by hairy, I mean a once-38-point lead dwindled down to nearly single digits in the final minutes — but Miami still carved the Clippers like a Thanksgiving turkey all night. Miami’s pace was, once again, too much for the veteran-laden Clippers, who saw James Harden receive just a couple of second half minutes.

Miami closes this four-game homestand at 3-1 and is now 14-7 on the season, while the Clippers drop to 5-16. The Heat take the floor again Wednesday on the road against Cooper Flagg, Anthony Davis and the Dallas Mavericks.

He is a dynamic, gifted player, but if he’s injured, he has zero value. Is he even available? Unless we could include the Rozier contract, it would be very difficult. On trade machine Rozier plus Herro works (plus at least one first round pick).

In somebody say today, you need to win a championship this year or next year, what you can do?

You search for elite talent in other teams. One of those, which are threated as “damaged” goods because injuries, age, mental problems or other flaws.

Like Davis, Irving, Kawhi, Harden, Ball, Embiid, Zion, Ja, KD….

Among this group, Kawhi is not the worst option.

He has a contract till the end of 26/27. It looks we have a team to get into playoff even without Herro and obviously Rosier, so it seems that are both expendable. We can save Kawhi for play off then.

In case of bad luck we can continue with current group sans Herro. in 27/28.

I m certain at least half of players listed above will be available this year. I m also sure, that Riley will go after any player on that list.

That’s why I noted that the trade would work and not affect the cap. I would definitely do that trade. He is the best of that group you listed.

Yes, there would be a chance. Not sure how much to limit minutes. A player can get injured in the first minute of a game. But I don’t want to give players Coach Thibs minutes, for sure.

Leonard, Irving, Embiid, George, Morant, Ball, Williamson, Murray, Ingram, Simmons are NBA’s Always Injured Team.

Leonard has played over 60 games in a season only once since 2016-2017 and never over 70! He’ll be 35 in January. I would look elsewhere.

What about Ware, Jaquez and Mitchell? The way I see it, Heat is 2 players away from competing for Eastern title, at minimum.

Great game. The starting unit somehow wasn’t destroyed in the rim. Wiggins, Bam, Mitchell really good, Powell great, has his revenge game.

As there was a lot of talk about trading for Collins, I believe, his stats for his game is similar as Fonteccio one, the 10th player from the Heat bench. 26 mill a year is a bit too high for such production.

At this point Clippers would probably take Rozier for Collins straight up so they get along with tanking it up for a 2026 lottery pick.

Rozier is scheduled to be arraigned in federal court Dec. 8 in Brooklyn. .can we get that deal done before the 8th.sm

If NBA will allow trade Rosier till February, we can get much better player for his expiring contract. It seems we dont need help now, but we will certanly need help in PO.

For the Rozier contract, I would do it, especially that he’s on an expiring contract. But Wiggins is the better player (I know you didn’t suggest swapping the two). At least for the immediate future, it seems Herro will remain in the starting 5. Collins would be #8 or #9. I’m okay with that, but I don’t see him coming here and starting.

Like the Central Park 5, he’s innocent until proven guilty.

I just wish Riley would put the pedal to the metal and sue the F*** out of the NBA/Silver and the Hornets. The Rozier trade was in violation of NBA rules (failure to disclose material fact).

Rule 4.03. Full Disclosure. (b) No Member shall make any other material misrepresentation or fail to disclose any other material information during the Trade Call. (c) If any Member is found, after a hearing before the Commissioner, to have violated subsections (a) or (b) above, the Member shall be subject to penalty. Such penalty shall be within the absolute and sole discretion of the Commissioner and may include a fine (not to exceed $1,000,000), suspension of the offending employee, rescission of the Assignment Transaction, and/or forfeiture or transfer of the offending Member’s draft choices.

That was an epic beatdown of the LA unc clippers. Stormin norman dropped middle finger F U bomb to them clippers, reminded them it was stupid af to trade him for nothing. Lawrence frank is another bad gm, and ty due overrated. We had a record setting block party in the first quarter and wiggy was looking like prime 2 way pippen on both ends on the floor. Herro and Davion was balling as well, hitting step back 3s, and tough shots. Bam joined the 3 point barrage with a career high 5 3’s made, which means he is still getting better, which is crazy to think about. The starters went ballistic for 140, and tied a franchise record 24 made 3s. Love this bounceback win, even if the clippers are the slowest and oldest team up against highest scoring team with the fastest pace. After we went on that 30-2 run…. it was over for them clips. LET’S GO HEAT!

The Clippers are not that bad either. They had a nice comeback, hardly missed a shot for about half of the fourth. They are old, a little slow, and seemed to run out of steam towards the end of quarters. Still, it was a great team effort by us, raining threes, with everyone contributing except Ware. But, we didn’t need him last night and don’t worry about him at all. He will be there when we do need him. And that goes for every player in our top ten, if they have a quiet night, just trust that it’s no biggie as there are only so many baskets to be had.
It’s pretty great to be a Heat fan lately.

Jaquez didn’t have that good a game either. It’s nice to have such a deep rotation that a couple of key players can have off nights and the team still scores 140 points.

Next 3 games are against Dallas, Orlando and Sacramento, then its on to Emirates Cup knockout round. If Miami wins all 3 games they will be 17-7. If they win 2 out of 3, they will be 16-8. Before the season started, I don’t think any of us were thinking Miami would be 17-7 or 16-8 after 24 games. I know I wasn’t.

Btw, Miami has the 5th easiest remaining schedule in the NBA. After 21 games, the Heat’s current winning percentage (66.7%) projects to 54-55 wins this season.

If Jaquez still has lingering pain, he should take some time off. The team generally has enough depth, even though he was missed against Detroit.

Kawhi, when healthy, is maybe a player, which we need.

Kawhi for Rosier and Herro, and we go for finals this and the next year.

There’s still time for that. Just don’t want to jump the gun and get an injury prone player, especially one with an attitude and a buttload of baggage. The guys on this team have worked too hard developing a very positive chemistry and camaraderie and deserve better than having to deal with some overpaid, shot calling, prima donna, arrogant, one-way @$$hole. FTS!
