The Miami Heat won’t be headed to Sin City.
Behind Desmond Bane’s dominant 37-point performance, the Orlando Magic blew past the Miami Heat inside Kia Center Tuesday with a 117-108 win.
Miami jumped out to a 20-4 lead, looking like it did the first two weeks of the season. It promptly got outscored 113-88 in the final 44:10, including 100-78 the final three quarters.
Both teams saw all five of their starters reach double figures. But Orlando canned 15-of-32 from beyond the arc, while Miami shot just 8-of-33, including just 2-of-16 in the second half.
Less than 72 hours after scoring just five points when the two teams met, Bane completely flipped the script. He was consistently getting to the rim and attacking the Heat’s lesser point-of-attack defenders. It ultimately opened up the rest of his game, shooting 6-of-9 from distance. He added six rebounds, five assists and one steal.
Jalen Suggs had 20 points on 7-of-13 shooting; Anthony Black had 10 points and seven dimes; Paolo Banchero had 18 points and seven rebounds on 5-of-13 shooting while Wendell Carter Jr. posted a 14-point, 10-rebound double-double.
Additionally, Norman Powell tallied a team-high 21 points, though he struggled knocking down wide-open looks in the second half. Andrew Wiggins and Bam Adebayo tallied 19 points apiece; Tyler Herro had 20 points on 7-of-17 shooting; Davion Mitchell came one assist shy of a double-double, scoring 11 points.
Tuesday marks the Heat’s fourth-straight loss and their third against Orlando this season. As a result, they drop to 14-11, 5.5 games back of the Detroit Pistons for the top seed in the East. They will play the loser between the New York Knicks and Toronto Raptors. The time and date will be announced at a later date.

I blame Niko for the losing streak.
Terrible cheerleader too.
herros fault mip looks great on the bench.next move is to send mip to sioux falls for improvement lol
Actually, if he was performing up to his potential, he would be playing more minutes and Miami would be winning more games. With his size, skills and experience, he should be matching JJJ’s output, at minimum. He definitely doesn’t look like a player who is worth a 4 years/62M contract extension. The only one underproducing worse than him this season is Rozier…and he has an excuse.
Jaquez: 15.6 ppg, 5.6 rpg, 5.0 apg, 51.2 fg%, mpg 29.2
Jovic: 7.6 ppg, 3.7 rpg, 2.8 apg, 39.0 fg%, 19.3 mpg
He should have been sent to Sioux Falls a month ago. He isn’t doing the team any good sitting at the end of the bench next to Johnson. What a waste!
Magic’s got Heat’s number. At least this regular season. Might see them in playoffs but too early to even dream of it coz play-in is knocking. Sigh.
Orlando was just better. Powell missed some open shots, which usually makes. And Bane went off at the end.
Several Heat players not in great rhythm at the moment, namely JJJ, Simone, Ware and Pelle.
Orlando was missing Wagner brothers or it could have been a blowout.
Ware: 12 minutes, 4 points, 6 rebounds, 1 block.
The reason the Heat is not running and scoring more is because of its declining defense. Offense can be addictive. The more fun the team has scoring, the less emphasis they place on defense. A classic trap. Defense drops off then so does offense.
It’s all about adjustments. It’s time for Miami to get back to basics. No defense = no fast breaks. No offensive rebounds = no second chances. No full court point of attack pressure = more time for opposing offenses to set up and put pressure on the defense.
It will be interesting to see what happens with the Rozier fiasco and if Riley can pull off a trade for Giannis.
I doubt it. That was clearly a playoff level game, where Orlando players, especially Bane executed at the high level when it matters, Miami players didnt.
At least Orlando was really well prepared for our second unit, and all weaknesses of players in our second unit were exposes. To limit JJJ, you need to put a big in the rim. To limit Ware, you have to box him out of the rim. To limit Simone, you need to cover him close.
All those players can destroy you, if you let them do so. Orlando didnt.
More importantly, Miami’s defense sucked. Magic was scoring at will.
Orlando 46.9% 3 point
Miami 24.2% 2 point
defense little better with ty out?ware 12 fn minutes.no keshot minutos.extended fonzi pelle minutos.spos personnel decisions spo scratchers.got just out bullied and atletticized last night pats fault.
From “thank you Godfather, thank you, Godfather, thank you, Godfather” back to ‘pats fault’ in less than 2 weeks.

When I was down you just stood there grinnin’
You’ve got a lotta nerve to say you got a helping hand to lend

Like death and taxes 😆
Jaime is a player who comes off the bench and gives you all he’s got and against the tougher teams and the higher leverage situations, he doesn’t wilt. So many other players do. Jaime is a keeper.
they dont wilt chamberlain theyre just not good enough 30
He is. He belongs in a rotation, seventh man. What I see, to oversimplify, is a quality core of players, Bam, Powell, Davion, Ware- on most nights, he can improve his consistency, Wiggins, Ty, Jaimie, Dru. We need two more core players, need to be B+ or better, it’s not undoable. Have to wait, maybe we will hear soon from the league, can make a move then.
agree pelle fonzi not quality players.i think u overvalue wiggy hes super inconsistent hard to tell which version u will get.herro needs to go hes destroyed the chemistry we had going.doesn t play team ball and his d is awful.very talented offensive player but will wear down and not be there at the end.but the bench is the major weakness and lack of a real #1.teams better than last years becuase of powell and jimmy just quit so after 25 games i would say were prob 6 -8 seed with a small chance to win a round in the playoffs
I wasn’t able to watch, I’m wondering what happened. We got out to a big lead, and it just eroded away. What happened and why? Also, I see Ware only had four points. Did he get much pt?
bane went off .to big and athletic to handle.ty scored 20 id guess he gave up maybe 40.powell slightly off.the problem 30 is no ss on team.and bam ware did not play one second together.its called overall lack of talent and spo not going with bam ware lineup would have helped.when they see that 8 ft guy under the rim it really deters rim getters.only good guy off bench is jjj .fonzi pelle are pure trash.i think the starters are ok but that bench is terrible.
game was on amazon prime
The high is over Back to earth. It’s clear the team needs a legit closer/ss. Gianni’s is the answer. Herro, Wiggins and Ware plus a pick works for me.
think there gonna want bam though.ware is unproven.wiggins old and been up and down whole career.tys injury waiting to happen and his d is just awful.thats prob not enough for top 3 player your proposal
Bam, Herro and 2 picks for Giannis and Portis
Wiggins for DeRozan
I think trading for Giannis is a no-brainer. Even if they want Bam, the Heat just keep Ware.
The real question: is this team so desperate for a closer that they trade for Ja Morant? Or Kahwai Leonard?
always said the only thing stopping ware from exploding is bam.if u can get giannis for bam herro and picks hell yes.get derozan for wiggins.your looking at a possible finals matchup with okc.a team with norm demar giannis ware dav dru jjj come on now i might be able to coach that squad to the finals.btw we got the shortend of the unc deal
Hope TF not. They are overpaid, part-time employees at best. Whatever happened to Leonard’s “alleged” $50M under the table bogus endorsement scandal? I wonder if someone got paid off to sweep it under the rug.
Meanwhile Miami getting screwed by the NBA (Adam Silver) six ways from Sunday on the Rozier trade.
