Miami Heat guard Tyler Herro, who’s missed the last 11 games with a toe injury, plans to play Tuesday against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Though the 25-year-old will be coming off the bench for the first time in nearly two calendar years. As a result, the Heat will continue starting Davion Mitchell, Norman Powell, Andrew Wiggins, Bam Adebayo and Kel’el Ware, the team announced.
This will be Herro’s first time coming off the bench this year. The last time Herro did not start a game was on April 7, 2024, against the Indiana Pacers.
Herro has played in just six games this season, averaging 23.2 points and 5.0 rebounds, shooting 50.5 percent from the floor and 40.5 percent from 3-point range.
Against New Orleans on Sunday, Herro was, confusingly, listed as available despite Erik Spoelstra disclosing pregame that he wasn’t likely to play. At the time, Spoelstra indicated that there was no “exact” date for a return. The change in injury designation didn’t make any sense, especially since the Heat had the requisite players available regardless of his status.
Neverthless, it’s good to see Herro back in the fold. It’s in everyone’s best interest to see how he jells alongside Norman Powell in this new-look offense. He also needs to play if he wants any sort of extension. Here’s to hoping stays healthy and effective!

Bullshit. Herro can play when he’s not missing most of a season
It isn’t one players fault, but more like everyone’s fault (except maybe our best player Powell). Its just a matter of not having the collective team strength and now even the starters are losing ground. And maybe Jaimie would make it closer but it’s hard to say they would be winning if he was in there. I kind of doubt it. I think the Wolves are just better. We need at least another player, and maybe some minor tweaking from there. The good news is some players may have become more marketable If the Heat do attempt a trade.
Yes, the team, as constructed, was and is a mediocre team, one that can make the playoffs but not really compete for much more. No doubt changes are needed.
