Miami does not have an alpha leader. That’s what they should be trading for, not another supporting character. If they can’t find one they will need to draft one. They’ll likely need a lottery pick for that.

In sports, I believe you should get what you earn. But whether it be Powell or anyone else, if their production has dropped significantly when Herro isn’t even on the court, that’s their problem, not his.

Whether he’s a winning player or not, I wouldn’t have changed the lineup. It has very little to do with Herro. It has everything to do with if something is working, don’t change it. On a related topic, you and I have been in agreement about substituting a player in games when that player is on a roll. I hate that and think you do too.

Ja is injured again and it’s been announced he will miss his 5th straight game Sunday. That will make it 21 out of the 39 games this season. A change of scenery might benefit both him and Herro.
About your other proposal? I would not trade those 2 players for DeRozan even though I’d like to get him here. Wiggins has similar numbers, is a better defender, and 6 years younger. And Pelle as well? No.

It depends on if you like a .500 that is going nowhere or prefer a .350 that has a future. Neither answer is right, the real answer is to do something to try to improve this team, right now. I didn’t see the game, wanted to but couldn’t, but it appears to be a very bad loss. If this loss was as bad as it looks in the box score, then we have to do something to improve. Or do some kind of tear down. But, do something damn it. The status quo is a place of no hope.

And for anyone who even casually reads comments on hhh, they would know that I am amongst the biggest advocates of trying to trade Herro, amongst the most vocal of not inserting him back into the starting lineup, and in agreement with those who said he should play off the bench.
He just doesn’t fit. If we had an elite defensive team, his poor defense could maybe be covered up, and his offense would be welcome. But his awful defense, and the fact that he’s not a fast break guy, I think he should be anchored on the bench, before his trade value is negative.

I’m not taking up for him when he’s on the court and affects the game negatively. If just ‘the thought’ of him affects other players, they need to be a lot tougher mentally. If something like a thought affects how they play when he’s not playing, they need to be in a different line of work. I did my job to the best of my ability whether a competitive colleague was in or out of the office. These guys have no excuse if they can’t adapt.
