The clock is ticking.
There is less than 26 hours — and counting — until the Feb. 5 trade deadline.
And the Miami Heat are trying to exhaust every option to keep themselves within striking distance to acquire Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo, including involving another team to facilitate a trade, according to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst.
As the Miami Herald’s Barry Jackson reported earlier this week, the Heat are leaving little-to-no stones unturned, save for Heat star Bam Adebayo. The basis of the Heat offer would likely include Kel’el Ware, Tyler Herro, another big salary filler (Terry Rozier or Andrew Wiggins), another young player, two first-round picks, plus three swaps.
Logistically, involving a third — or perhaps fourth — is where the waters get muddy because deals where several big salaries and, more importantly, big names, are more realistic in the offseason than at the deadline. Though deals get done when there’s urgency from every party. And we know the Heat is as urgent as ever to get this done now before the challenge becomes even greater in the summer.
If Miami can get another team involved, it increases the likelihood that more could be coming back to them. They would need to fill roster spots, after all.
It isn’t the only team trying to lump other teams in. The Minnesota Timberwolves are trying to do the same.
It’s a much steeper obstacle for them because they have no tradable first-round picks, a poor crop of controllable young players (outside of Jaden McDaniels) and very little depth to throw into the wind. They have big salaries — Rudy Gobert, Julius Randle and Naz Reid — but each of those three players has multiple years left on their contract (Randle and Reid re-signed last offseason), lessening their value.
The Heat still has to mountains to move in order to complete this deal. And we’ll see if it’s enough over the next 26 hours.

those “other teams” obviously will not include franchises who hate Pat or doesnt like Miami to get better coz you know, Heat culture + a superstar = biscayne parade in june
Most of you still don’t learn from trading for 30+ years old stars.
let’s gooooooooo!
Someone on realgm said this trade is like the Harden trade from BKN to PHI that was thought to have no momentum. In that trade I think it was Woj (on behalf of BKN) putting out that narrative, while Windy was actually saying a trade was likely. This week it seems Windy is the one reporting on Milwaukee’s perspective that a trade won’t happen, which is a leverage play by Milwaukee to increase the offers
This would be a terrible trade.
i think milw goes to greek and says where u want to play hes earned that.we gotwarm weather no state inc tax and rcs posts
That last one should be the clincher
Just like dame earned it when he said he wanted to come here and silver stepped in and sent a memo to Mia and “other teams” lmao sure.
I think Giannis winning a title for the Bucks helps, plus it hurt that the Blazers GM got his feelings twisted and wanted to be a vindictive assbag
Lonzo Ball and Jock Landale on the move. I know, who cares?
Per Windy: “Miami has an offer they could take,” Windhorst said on NBA Today. “I think the Golden State offer is better because of the unprotected picks post Steph (Curry) I value more, but the Miami offer, which has young players and couple of draft picks in it, they could take that offer. Especially if Giannis wants to do it.”
Also said decision expected before midnight
That’s what we wanted to hear! Woooooooooo (let’s hope)
Chris Paul to Raptors. This would’ve been big news 10 years ago
Thursday I think this team will end up with Giannis, Ja or both. Ja for expirings even if MIN gets Giannis is still a big talent upgrade for this team, and really helps the offense
I would love for you to be right
Both was always the goal, which is why the Heat started talking to Memphis weeks ago. That doesn’t mean they’ll pull it off, but they are definitely on the high wire and the net has been removed. We watch stunned lol
Less than 24 hours left before the trade deadline.
lots of action still to come.pats trying.its greek or bust,
As if you’ll be okay with bust
#Testify
dolly partons yes
Or for a bigger one, Justise?
hes precious justice sshh
Another old saying to Riley is sh*t or get off the pot! Giannis would be exciting, but if the Heat has put every chip Bucks ask for onto the table, and the Bucks can’t make a decision, MOVE ON!!
If the Heat doesn’t make a move by the deadline (not a Jae Crowder-ish move), I might have to change my handle to RC4life, which would be a nightmarish scenario for me. Or maybe simply DebbieDowner4life. 😆😆
There is enough smoke to feel like something will go down
Coby White to Hornets
Kind of feel like the Heat should just pivot to Ja. Putting all our chips in on Giannis, only for him to end up not traded or somewhere else, just furthers the problem.
Make something happen and hope for the best. If it fails, blow it up next year.

Obviously I’d be happy at this point. But one can only hope they do something.
Agree 1000%
AD traded to Wizards and McCain from 76ers to Rockets.
Turned out McCain is going to the Thunder who I guess traded the Rockets pick that OKC owned. The Thunder got a very good rotation player with good potential upside. The rich got richer.
Holy cow! I hope the Wizards are sponsored by Walter Reed Hospital!
Glass city.
And to throw more doubt, Windhorst said this morning that there is not much momentum on any deals with the Bucks and they are seeming more likely to keep Giannis. They may have been merely gauging the market. AD just got traded as the Wizards are trying to upgrade.
To me, today is judgement day. Either Milwaukee wants to complete a trade or they don’t. They have had more than enough time to consider all their options. As the saying goes, a bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush. We are at a point where we could add Ja, DeRozan, and a backup big while keeping all, or most of our assets and draft picks. I would be very happy with that result!
I have the same feeling, its a final test of ability of FO to get it done.
If unsuccessful, Riley have to go.
Not sure if he could do anything that could get him axed.
That works too lol
I’d rather have Moran over DeRozan. DeRozan’s age is a concern and is Demar even playing on that high of a level anymore?. I’d take the big risk on Ja over that. And, we would be buying low for a player whose ceiling is very high. Yes, availability is the risk but I do it. Better than the status quo any day.
Kings saying they have not talked to Demar about a buyout if not traded. Get Ja and see if Demar gets bought out.
I cant imagine a player less suitable for Heats style of playing.
We can have both
This would be a terrible trade for the heat.
I’m curious if the Bucks will allow Giannis to pick between the offers so he can go somewhere he wants or if they’re going to take the best and forget what he might want?
Grizz lowered price on Ja.
