GAME PREVIEW: Heat looking to extend win streak with matchup in Milwaukee

Post All-Star break has already been treating a near fully healthy Miami Heat team well. They are coming off their third straight win, including two wins in a back-to-back leg over this past weekend.

Miami is now entering a Tuesday night matchup with a road outing against the Milwaukee Bucks. The Heat are currently sporting a 31-27 record, winners of six of their last 10 games and slotted at the eighth seed. They remain tied for seventh and only .5 games out of the sixth spot and out of the play-in picture as they approach this second half of season playoff push.

Giannis Antetokounmpo will still be sidelined with a calf injury for tonight’s game, as the 24-31 Bucks are on the outside looking in from even the play-in picture. They are the 11th seed in the East. However, just like Miami, Milwaukee has also won six of their last 10. The Heat are 1-0 versus the Bucks this season, with a tight 106-103 win against them earlier in the year on November 26.

The good news for Miami is they are likely to have Davion Mitchell back, who missed the previous game with an illness. He has been upgraded to probable. Everyone else that has been a regular in coach Erik Spoelstra’s rotation is available. Tyler Herro is expected to still be staying put in his new sixth man role off the bench since returning from injury.

Tonight’s game should be a good test of the Heat’s new rotation prior to its showdown with the 76ers. If the team continues playing well, it could be in sole possession of 6th place after Thursday’s game.

With Mitchell returning, Miami is getting closer to solidifying its rotation:

  • Mitchell, Powell, Larsson, Wiggins, Bam
  • Jakucionis, Herro, Jaquez, Fontecchio, Ware
  • Smith, Gardner, Johnson, Jovic, Rozier

Note: Rozier is out due to suspension and there is talk of shutting Jovic down for the rest of the season because of injury and performance issues.
