The Miami Heat are expected to have a busy offseason, spearheaded by an attempt to acquire Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo. It is widely expected that a resolution will be reached ahead of the 2026 NBA Draft.
Though the Heat, who are well below the first and second aprons, will still need to find a way to fill out their roster — Giannis or no Giannis — especially with more floor spacing and shot creation. And a pair of Thunder guards that fit the former could enter the trade market this offseason, according to a recent report from Jake Fischer of The Stein Line.
“The moves Oklahoma City is expected to make are more likely to involve the Nos. 12, 17 and 37 picks it holds in the fast-approaching draft,” Fischer wrote. “Or, perhaps, by trading away Isaiah Joe or Aaron Wiggins to create some financial flexibility as the dreaded second apron looms.”
Why Heat should target Isaiah Joe, Aaron Wiggins:
Obviously, the Heat’s foremost priority is to acquire Antetokounmpo. Hunting the star will always be atop their shopping list. But whether or not they are able to successfully pull that off remains to be seen. But that should not preclude the Heat from thinking about which players they should target in the interim.
They don’t have many avenues to acquire a lot of talent via trade, but they do have two trade exceptions — a $16.8 million trade exception that expires on July 7, and a $5.6 million TPE that expires on Aug. 15 — created last summer that they can utilize. While neither cracked my initial 10-player TPE list, each fit under the $16.8M TPE parameters. Joe is on the books for $11.3 million and Wiggins for $9.1 million in 2026-27.
Joe would immediately become the Heat’s best 3-point shooter and floor spacer. He’s canned 41.5 percent of his 5.5 triples over the last four years, and has taken 77 percent of his attempts from there. His volume and gravity in limited opportunity made defenses account for him, which would be a huge asset to the Heat with Antetokounmpo, hypothetically.
Wiggins isn’t quite the marksman that his teammate is, but he’s still an impactful two-way wing off the bench. Wiggins is also a good shooter, having buried nearly 40 percent (39.9 percent) of his spot-up attempts over the last three seasons. He has a knack for always being in the right spots defensively and makes winning plays with his hustle, spatial awareness, aggression and length.
Neither is great at creating their own shot. And the Heat’s improved, yet inconsistent guard play makes shot creation elsewhere a necessity. However, what they lack in shot creation, they also lack in pure floor spacing, despite being the league’s 11th-most efficient 3-point shooting team (17th in 3PA per 100) last year. Both could be sparkplugs off the bench in any context and, most importantly, fill a necessary void from the potential departures of Tyler Herro and Norman Powell at a fraction of the cost.

🤨
castle so cool wow.nobodys cooler than my boy sm
wemby is very awkward at times after seeing him play more re evaluation needed.i know the heat players better watch them every night.there are holes in his game.greek cant shoot for sht.joker little slow a foot.lebron no weaknesses.d wade no weaknesses.
Okay
gotta hope boston doesnt want greek.i think if they offer brown its a done deal
trying to build this squad up long shot with an 80year old..greek makes us much better asap and hopefully pat can add on resign wigg powell
I agree. That’s the talk coming out of Bucks world. They are saying Boston is in the best position to provide players and draft picks while still having a core that would be able to compete for a championship if Celtics trade for Giannis. All GM Brad Stevens needs to do is present an offer.
deals not happening unless brown or tatum goes to milw.if boston willing to part with one good chance greeks a celtic.plan b has to be kawhi.plan c cry
6moty just might have cost spurs game whata dum ass
6Moty + Bryant = < 1 brain
stupid not to play the vet harrison barnes.put him on og none of the other guys can guard og..and to play carter nikolai bryant is just dum.wow this deep voice coach has been bad
wemby cant get to the hoop at all.his man on man d when hes out around 3 pt line is terrible.guys little overrated.catches lobs his best weapon
did u know wemby would be this good at beginning of year…ive never seen a guy have such an impact on a game hes the best player ive ever seen.not sure what his legacy will turn out to be how long he will play but hes the most impactful player ive ever seen.its virtually impossible to get a layup with him on ct.
You change like the Florida weather.
hes got some flaws lebron doesnt, top 3 player.greeks just as good
hes the best player ive ever seen.
hes the most impactful player ive ever seen
who said that? Me? No. SM? No. Manila? No. It’s someone that changes one game to the next, even one quarter to the next.
little pre mature yes,hes a great player has weaknesses no,handle cant guard away from basket.greeks just as good.
No disagreement on that
u thought herro was a good player
Other opinions –
Tyler Herro is an exceptionally good NBA player, serving as a dynamic, high-level scorer and primary playmaker for the Miami Heat. Known as one of the league’s premier shooters, he brings major offensive firepower to the floor but is often limited by below-average defensive capabilities.
None of this is to say that Herro’s not a good player. He is. But he’s also a flawed player.
that last one is how I feel.
fl weather btw always hot homer bad analogy
Rain one moment, sun the next hypocrite
your always right homer.ok your perfect
No, I don’t claim that. But you do.
i stick my opinion out there know the game and sports.cant be right on all of them.no need to take shots though
Well, likewise.
The famous saying goes, “If you don’t like the weather in Florida, just wait 15 minutes.”
no change of seasons. warm air just about 12 months
A lot of hot air coming out of there all year as well.
I’m very impressed by all their young players but most impressed by Champagnie. Dude went undrafted and is on a $3M contract this year and a $3M team option next year. Harper (age 20) has maturity and nerves of steel for a rookie. Stephon Castle (age 21) is tenacious defender and a good all around player.
Before all is said and done, Wemby should be one of the top 10 (if not top 5) players of all time. I can’t begin to imagine how good the Spurs can become over the next few years.
I think the odd man out is Fox. 5 years/$260M (through 2029-2030) is a bit much.
as of right now id say greek is a better player than wemby
playing bryant over barnes hmmm
wemby going to the hoop nowadays looking like jovic
does fox have a ss game in him.hes playing more like rozier lately
feels like the super bowl this game
if hes ring chasing not coming here.if he wants to live in a beautiful city and let pat build it up he comes here
want 7 game series go spurs tonight
From YARDBARKER June 7th
Celtics, Heat get opposite Giannis Antetokounmpo trade updates
Giannis is intrigued by the Celtics, not so much by the Heat
“From Giannis’ side, the intrigue is real. The respect for Joe Mazzulla, the way that he might see that roster,” [Sam] Amick said on “The Dan Patrick Show.” “I think it’s worth watching.”
That’s not necessarily the case with Erik Spoelstra’s team, given that there wouldn’t be much left to work with after they trade for him.
“There’s some intel that Giannis has questions about what that Miami roster would look like on the other side of a deal,” Amick added.
The Orlando Magic and Cleveland Cavaliers are also expected to be in the mix, while the Oklahoma City Thunder will always be a threat, given their surplus of assets.
By Giannis voicing concerns about what the Heat roster will look like after trading for him, it opens the door for other teams to enter the bidding war. Teams like Boston and OKC have better players and more draft picks to offer, more depth and a better chance of winning an NBA Title with Giannis than does Miami.
I sure do hope Riley and the Arisons have other options ready to go, if the Giannis trade falls through. Either that, or I’m hoping they are willing to commit to rebuilding by trading Herro and selecting players that meet the team’s needs with the 13th and 41st picks. It may also be possible for Miami to move up in the draft or enter discussions for trade swaps with teams, like OKC, which may wish to defer one or more their 2026 picks until the future.
Stay tuned.
bostons got the aura to.no aura here auerbach russell havlicek heinsohn bird etc.we have riley wade.boy that would hurt no greek .theres no plan b unless its kawhi but hes not coming here.its greek or bust.
im blown away how good the knick d is didnt see this coming.all they need to do now is trade for tyler(a pat riley special) to have the best d in the nba
15…..
15 days till we go to athens
Sounding like it may be by the end of the week. I just hope Riley doesn’t give up too much with no plan to fill behind. If he can include Jovic instead of Larsson or Jakucionis that would be preferable.
But isn’t it true that we can’t do a Giannis trade until draft day because we have to first make the pick and then trade that pick to Milwaukee? Of course, by draft day, Giannis could also be traded to another team. They don’t have to wait. Then we will find out if there is a Plan B.
cant u just trade the pick now.
No. Must wait until draft day.
and why is that .we know where we are picking.in football i know that isnt the case if thats a rule thats fkn stupid rule.what is the rationale for that.this deal should be done already .we know greek is getting traded.dragging on to long.
f the world cup my wifes colombian.she says why do they call american football football she says it should be called handball.soccer puts me to sleep yawn
It’s called American Football to everyone but Americans. When in America do as the Americans.
And, of course, soccer is the most popular sport in the world.
I never understand what is so interesting in American football and baseball.
American football is pretty exciting. Baseball is kind of like soccer. Guys run around for a couple of hours and the final score ends up 2-1. However, not nearly as many flops as soccer. Some of those floppers drop as if they have been shot if someone looks at them the wrong way.
A bunch of fat guys hitting each other for 3 seconds or so? I dont think so. Basketball is a floppers league too.
I watch only basketball and cycling, the rest only if there is a national team involved.
Hockey is like a faster-paced soccer played by manly men.
Yes, only if national team is involved. There was world championship in may, Slovenia did just enough to stay in the elite class… loosing to Canada 3:1… US lost 4:0. I watched that, of course.
cycling u must be european lol.how bout tennis joker best in world for few decades.your croatian serbian one of those?
Nope, I dont like tennis. I also dont root for Serbians or Croatians, if they dont play in my teams.
your slovenian?gorans country.like that place called bled gotta hit that up one day
Yes , I m a Slovenian. Yes, Bled is probably most popular thing here.
Goran is half Slovenian and half Serbian.
Bosnian, actually.
i think your like me watch all the sports..baseball gotta appreciate the game or youll be bored.hardest thing to do is hit a baseball.if your successful 30% of the time your considered an all star.hockey is like soccer hardly any scoring but lots of hitting.soccer is like watching paint dry yawn.when i grew up there was no soccer.who the f played soccer .in a 90 minute game theres like 2 minutes of excitement .
pretty exciting very exciting sm.every play run is exciting except the final victory kneel down.played high school football im a fanatic dolphins fan which means ive been sad for about 30 years.cardinals fan rams raiders chargers?
Ravens. My son lives in Baltimore area. Like Rams too.
cant win a sb with lamar..defense suks now need some uncs and tylers
our football is the greatest game in the world.u have to advance a ball and theres 300 lb guys they run a 4 8 40 trying to tackle u u have 250 lb guys who run a 4.6 40 trying to put a hurting on and then u have muscualar 200 lb bros looking to take your head off.then we have our pretty boy qbs trying to pass to some of the fastest people in the world for 6 pts and 220 lb guys that can run u over for 6 pts.its a violent game very very exciting
As always, you’re entitled to your opinion. I love football too. But the majority of the world disagree that it’s the greatest sport in the world.
speaka da english por favor
trade values ware def highest jjj second only ones with real value .tyler pelle nah.jovic none jaco nobody knows what he is.prob a backup type player.to get greek tyler jovic might not be enough to go with ware, gonna need to throw prob jjj in there with ware and then either ty or pelle.we are seeing this from the heat point of view ,gms are smart they know ty is injury prone plays zero d.id hate to lose out on greek this is a franchise changing situation for 3-5 years .following year need to get few more and then we are there.we need to give kj and gard some fn minutes these boys need to play
Plus Spo’s first born.
aka niko spojovic.they say cats have 9 lives spojovic has 9 seasons
Milwaukee’s latest trade scenario:
Seems a bit excessive to me, but what do I know?
do it do it sign the deal sm are u in pats office now?
Waiting to see if Kicks win or lose. NY loses and Miami gets the finger from Giannis
im hearing boston intrigues greek..if boston willing to trade brown could be a deal.orlando gives them paolo theyll be noncompetitive.so i think its between boston and miami.nyk not trading kat hes approaching ss level.on the verge.hes quite a player.i cant think of a 7 footer that shoots it as well as him although ware might be that .speaking of ware im scared to give him up he could become a great player cause hes been spostrasized here.spo has showed him up when he calls a to kind of walking right towards ware, with a pissed look on his face, but when spojovic fs up all the time no big deal.if we dont get greek then let bam ware play 30-35 mins every fn night and get some backup c/pfs.wiggy is a sf.niko is a bust.or how bout giving vlad and kj some run dumbot.not to give that even a try what a stubborn ass coach we have.who was the dunk champ who can shoot it little bit.who got a nothing program like fau to final 4
still can sign wig norm dav pelle gard kj greek top 3 player still in his prime look at his #s.please tell pat to ink the deal.please please.
That would be a very competitive team, playoff (not play-in) bound for sure.
forogt playin bros bam. what is a pelle kasp herro meh gard pelle same sht except one plays one doesnt to much
I would do it and thank my lucky stars!
Yes, thats what they will want. Major win would be to save Kas or Pelle from this trade.
No, that’s a terrible idea! Don’t you realize they both are white? Give me Dexter Pittman, Winslow, or Anthony Bennett any day over those guys.
Paint them black.
Worked for the Stones
Animals version better.
Thats the idea, yes.
16…….
16 fays til greek day could give a f about 13th pick
days
Who cares?
I knew fay and her seester too… Caldonia.
Before the playoffs, Giannis made it known that New York was his preferred destination in a trade. The speculation is Milwaukee has decided to delay finalizing his trade to Miami because he has asked them to wait until the NBA Finals are over. If New York somehow loses, there is a strong possibility the Knicks will make a serious trade offer for Giannis.
I hope Riley is ready to immediately implement Plan B if the trade falls through. I hope he isn’t putting all his eggs in one basket. Otherwise, he may end up where he has been after every other unsuccessful whale hunting season has ended in the past…sitting in his office dazed and confused with a blank stare on his face.
wish u were in his office so there would be no communication breakdown for the 81 year old with milw gm
I wish that Riley would ramble on.
what is and what should never be hes 81 30 let sm do the deal .hed be a heater.if we dont get greek it will be a heart breaker.
If you’ve followed SM to any degree, you’d know he would build through the draft.
he wants greek like every heat fan.no greek heat will be mediocre to bad for years how many not sure could be 3 to —-
Doesn’t change what I said. And btw, we’ve been mediocre for 3 years already.
when did jimmy quit has it been 3 years.if bams our best player playin city
Yes, if it makes more sense than selling the farm. Miami still needs to cover its flank.
Not if Riley has to drop his drawers around his ankles to seal the deal. All that glitters is not gold. Instead of a stairway to heaven it could easily turn into a highway to hell.
for that 3-5 year period good times bad times when hes gone
We’d say, oh, oh oh oh, oh oh, Pats got to go, oh oh, oh oh.
hit the road Jack
keep it zepelin my fav band
WOW!
The Portland Trail Blazers appear ready to trade for the Milwaukee Bucks star Antetokounmpo without any assurances that he would sign an extension with them, per ESPN’s Shams Charania. Portland would likely offer a couple of starters and a first-round pick for Antetokounmpo “no matter the risk.”
miamis like athens warm lots water international lots hottys.miamis one beautiful city i hate it but im an old fart now, like it better when i moved here in the 60s.paradise quiet vacation capitol of the usa.jackie gleason those were the days
I think Miami and Milwaukee are on the same page. Gianni’s is probably
hedging his bet in case NY loses.
have u been to miami?
Not in this life. Not on my bucket list either. Can’t handle the humidity or the politics. SoCal is completely different. Live and let live.
Gianniis may surprise everyone and be going to california.
Spent my days with a woman unkind
Smoked my stuff and drank all my wine
Made up my mind to make a new start
Going to California with an aching in my heart
Someone told me there’s a girl out there
With love in her eyes and flowers in her hair
going to california great song like most zep tunes dont think plant page bonham lived out there believe jason bonham lives down here now
They spent a lot of time out here partying.
must have to write that song
I just saw this trade scenaio:
Heat Receives: Giannis Antetokounmpo
Bucks Receive: Ja Morant, Kel’el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr. Nikola Jovic, No. 13 pick, 2031 first-round pick, 2033 first-round pick
Grizzlies Receive: Tyler Herro
Nothing new. Basically the same trade as Heat/Bucks minus Morant…unless one of those picks is from Memphis.
as of right now all the sites say heat front runner dont know whos second.knicks are #1 choice but there about to have a parade
take jovic out nobody in their right mind would take him in a trade
I think we are being a little optimistic about some of our younger players’ trade value. My take is…., Ty, low, lower than he deserves. Jaime, pretty good right now, maybe at peak. Pelle, a little low, but could garner some interest. Jovic, zero, especially due to contract, only possibility is as a throw in. Ware, pretty high, definitely will have some takers. Kaspar, still high, not as high as Jaime or Ware, but there will be interest. I think any team who trades with us will want Jaime, Ware, and Kaspar, even more than Ty. I believe Ty and Niko are going to be hard to move.
Denver might take him so his fellow Serbian Jokic can kick him in the @$$ and make a player out of him. Cam Johnson is a fair trade since Johnson had a bad year with Nuggets. Heat might need to throw in Dru Smith. Worth a shot if Jokic buys in.
that makes sense jokic will mentor jovic.anybody that plays with prob the best passer in nba will be better.cam johnson was pretty bad with denver wouldnt mind to see him in so beach
Just another illustration of the reality maintaining a championship level team in any era. Dudes are gonna follow the money whoever pays the most regardless of team stature. But who can blame them? Now…the Thunder are in a unique position with all their future 1st round picks. Again…thanks to Presti.
kyrie irving one of the most talented players ive ever watched, but is the earth really round.between ja and ky rather have flat earth.pats 80 though
34 year old coming off catastrophic injuries? NO THANKS!
compareing to ja id rather have kyrie.kyrie can shoot ja never really could.davs prob better than both.dav needs to give us 13-15 pts a game single digit pts unacceptable
I watched him a lot in Dallas. Great player, maybe the best ball handler in the league. And he wouldn’t be extremely expensive.
Great 3th option in a contender team.
Right, and he hasn’t played for a year and a half, older and coming off a serious injury. Unless he came really cheap, I’d pass.
PLAN B – FOOD FOR THOUGHT
Trade #1 With Mavericks
Herro + Jovic for Irving + Caleb Martin or Naji Marshall
-plus-
Trade #2 With Clippers
Kahwi Leonard for Wiggins, Mitchell and 2026 1st and second round picks.
Projected Line-up:
Irving, Larsson*, Kahwi, Bam, Ware
Jakucionis, Gardner, Jaquez, Martin or Marshall, Goldin (or FA)
Young, Johnson, FA, FA, FA
*If Heat re-sign Powell to a team friendly extension, he can start and Larsson can replace Gardner on second team who would drop to third team.
Trade 2 – future draft picks
Start Jakucionis with Dru as back-up? I think I would start Jaquez at PG with Kasparas as back-up.
jaco as starter what u on .jjj pg too slow to guard
So you already know that a 19 year old player who had a pretty good first season, including the second best 3p% amongst rookies will likely never be a starter? I’ll answer that – no, you don’t know that.
im saying he will never be a starter
Yeah, and we can beat any team in the east and Kyle Guy is a great player.
What’s your option? Don’t tell me Gardner or Young.
dav is our best pg now
if he goes to orlando for paolo and suggs the magic are not near good enough.if he wants to compete for jewelry he goes to okc or minn.if he comes to beautiful miami we need more its doable but pats 80
81 and he ain’t gettin any younger.
Well, these moves would be uninspiring and woefully inadequate.
The best plan for us is to get Giannis, keep Norm and our Wiggins, and Davion, and those would be the starters. Then we need to add two more depth pieces, one a center and the other a two way forward, to go with Jaime and Kaspar, and whoever else is left, on the second unit.
That’s the best Heat team we could put on the court, and it would be very competitive.
A guy can dream, can’t he?
Meh. Need to figure out what is going on with Giannis, Powell, Wigglns, Larsson and Jakucionis before shopping for window dressings.
True.
what do u see pelle jacko in 3 years.will they be better than wiggy or powell chances are no.wiggy and powell both be expensive but are there better options out there maybe but pats 80
Yes. Two-way PG and SG. Wiggins and Powell will have one foot out the door by then. I would give them 2 year extensions max.
if jaco and pelle are starting we are fkd, look at the teams playing now please compare lol
If you hadn’t noticed, Miami fans have been getting fkd for years.
