The Miami Heat are back in action tonight as they welcome the Detroit Pistons to Kaseya Center, looking to bounce back from a disappointing start to the 2026-27 NBA season.
Miami dropped its season opener to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday, 131-106, despite an impressive 35-point performance from Giannis Antetokounmpo in his official Heat debut. The two-time MVP delivered, but Miami struggled defensively and connected on just eight of its 33 three-point attempts, and that’s including their early hot start with newcomers Giannis, Klay Thompson and Tim Hardaway Jr. all knocking down their first attempts.
Tonight provides an opportunity to turn things around.
The Pistons arrive in Miami with a 1-0 record after rallying from a 22-point deficit to defeat the Boston Celtics, 121-113, in their season opener. Led by Cade Cunningham and a talented young supporting cast, Detroit figures to be one of the Eastern Conference’s tougher opponents this season.
There’s also a familiar face returning to Miami, as former Heat sharpshooter Duncan Robinson makes his first visit to Kaseya Center this season wearing a Pistons uniform. Robinson scored 21 points in Detroit’s opener, including five three-pointers.
For Erik Spoelstra and the Heat, the focus will be on improving their defensive intensity, finding a better offensive rhythm and getting more consistent contributions from the supporting cast around Giannis and Bam Adebayo.
With a road matchup against Charlotte awaiting Saturday, Miami would certainly love to pick up its first win before heading out of town.

nice steal niko
need kyrie big time
dunc has improved his off game but his d is still terrible u can have him det
Larsson doing those little things well.
hard jr was never a good shooter eric look his stats
dunc d
guess richards and gard will never play
I take it back, not everyone is awful. Just the starters.
They can turn this around…and get that W!
Please? Haha
Just the first quarter…same as said after gm1 loss, its just the first game hehe
i wasn texpecting niko hard jr pelle to be that good but bam yes
Portis appears to be a bright spot. Several others are needing to get it together.
Several? The entire team isn’t doing anything well.
I feel heat nation is soooo uneasy right now
looks like minn game
Can’t rebound, can’t shoot, can’t play defense. Don’t think you can say a positive thing about this squad through 5 quarters.
welost norm gave up 3 good players and a prospect for gr8 player .id do the trade but niko pelle hard jr are not on tylers norms jjjs level
nice rebound niko lol
Send some of your Niko vitriol towards Hardaway. He looks bad too.
put fkn richards in dumbot
If this trend continues that would be a step we could take. But, first we need to give Niko a fair shot.
pelle loves mixing it up like that about the kid
Can they make it to 20pts?
wheres richards or gardner team to soft out there
i wish we didnt have to give jjj up
I have to agree – what’s up with Bam’s D?
I get it’ll take time to gel, but what’s the excuse for Bam’s effort and defensive performances?
Just been flat awful so far. Having Giannis and Bam sounded awkward offensively, but I thought they’d at least for an elite defensive tandem. Now I have my doubts.
aja family baBY lots $$$ the adebayos are fine mom to
Bam’s $60m contract looking pretty awful. Tyler was wrong to complain about it, but right about it.
if u guys dont think we need another guard i dunno.kyrie will not be on the mavs.thats coopers team he young heat are old we need kyrie or holiday
good d klay sht shooting though
Time to give Richards some minutes
Bam’s been flat awful through the first 53 minutes of the season.
greeks prob thinking wtf did i get myself into here
That could be the worst part of a bad start.
I can’t believe with the start like that, that you don’t immediately put some substitutions in there
whats bam doing whats wrong with him. no hustle
Finally DMitch 3
What is going on here? It’s the same as last game only worse. No offense except Giannis.
Sure doesn’t seem like Miami learned anything from game 1. Still playing awful on defense.
So much for what we thought would be a strength.
Eeewww ugly start
Major understatement
Think we can undo the trade? Giannis is great, but if we’re gonna suck, those picks woulda been nice.
Lol, I almost wrote that
The strategy just has to be to go after Duncan.
17 2 un fkn real
dav pump fake had ezshot of course passed out smh
lgh fk att just offering credit on bill for no heat games
Let’s go Heat!
Go Heat! 1-1
There is no time like the present for the Heat to get its act together. After playing 3 of their first 4 games at home, 6 of the team’s next 7 games are on the road. Miami closes out November with a brutal 8 game schedule against the following teams:
Cleveland
Detroit
Houston
Milwaukee
Oklahoma City
Philadelphia
New York
Cleveland
If Miami does not get its act together soon (in next few games), it’s easy to see the Heat several games behind the top Eastern Conference teams by the end of November.
