Celtics’ offense too much for Heat to handle in 147-129 blowout loss

The Boston Celtics’ offense proved to be unstoppable for the Heat, as they lose by a near 20-point margin and suffer an 0-4 season series sweep.

After a nice bounce back win against the Philadelphia 76ers earlier in the week, the Miami Heat failed to keep it going with the Boston Celtics in town on Wednesday. Boston stormed into Kaseya Center and picked apart the Heat defense on route to a 147-129 loss for Miami.

The loss is the Heat’s third in four games and eighth in their previous 10 games overall— dropping their record to 40-37 and back to sole possession of the Eastern Conference’s 10th and final play-in seed. Boston improved to 51-25 overall and completed a perfect 4-0 season series sweep against Miami during this 2025-26 campaign.

In all the Heat versus Celtics matchups this year, it hasn’t mattered with Jayson Tatum’s availability in recovering from his achilles injury. Boston’s well coached and deep roster has given Miami issues for years since Jimmy Butler’s departure no matter the circumstances.

Despite Miami shooting an efficient 46% as a team in this matchup— with 51% on 24 makes from 3-point range— that still wasn’t enough to even keep things close against Boston. And that notion just shows how far away the Heat are from being a true contending team.

The Celtics shot 58% and 48%, respectively, and limited themselves to just seven turnovers. They also won the rebounding battle 48-37. Jaylen Brown went off for a game-high 43 points, 7 assists and 3 rebounds in what has been an MVP caliber season from Boston’s All-Star guard. Tatum added a ridiculous 25/18/11 triple-double as that duo not only wrecked havoc for Miami, but showcased that they are arguably the greatest superstar duo in the entire association.

The Heat had six players score in double figures, led by Bam Adebayo’s 29 points and 10 boards double-double. However, Tyler Herro was inefficient on both ends of the floor with his 5 of 15 shooting and getting hunted by Boston’s stars on the defensive end.

Miami now has just five games remaining on their regular season schedule before the play-in tournament begins. They will next host the Washington Wizards Saturday ahead of heading on their final three-game road trip.

Heat got Boston’s best game, like the San Antonio game. Only OKC defense is better than BOS at preventing scoring in the paint, and the Heat were -22 in PITP

At the beginning of the season I said this team reminds me of 3-day old leftovers. As we approach the end of the season, nothing I’ve seen has made me change my mind. Let’s just hope we don’t go into next season with 4-day old leftovers.

Until bam and herro, The Jimmy era players are no longer around or on the team then this will be a playin team, not bad enough for a good draft pick and not good enough to compete it is what it is.

Bam and herro are the type of players you build around a ss talent not the other way around. They are mid draft picked players who do nothing special both one dimensional type of players complimentary players

The goal should be to rebuild get what you can for both players I’m pretty sure bam gets you a nice haul and herro can get you a vet expiring to mentor the new wave of heat players

NBA centers by on off differential

Wembanyama +17
Jokic +13.4
Diabate +12.4
Adebayo +9
Holmgren +8.5

Jalen Duren will prob make All-NBA 3rd team, but as good as Duren is Bam is having a better season. 20/10 and should make All-Defense 1st team

Duren – 19.5/10.6/1.8, 65% FG, +11.4 on, +4.5 off, +6.9 net, All-Star

Adebayo – 20.3/10/3, 43% FG, +6.1 on, -2.9 off, +9.0 net

Team being +9 better with Bam and 20/10 and all-defense is meaningless? There are two centers in the NBA better than Bam – Wemby and Jokic. But clearly he is a one dimensional complimentary player, and the Heat should sign Cam Thomas to be their No 1 option

If your fence is falling down, at some some point, you realize repairing it is no longer good enough. You accept the fact you will need to rebuild it.

If your long time handyman has demonstrated he isn’t up to the task, you bring in a fence builder with a successful track record to do the job ASAP.

I’ve seen this story before. Miami is going to win the play-in and get destroyed in round one.

They are so far away from being competitive, but love to hang their hat on making the playoffs.

Being a 8 seed, in a league where over half the teams make the playoffs, isn’t something to be excited about.

Blow it up.
