We received the appetizer in San Francisco, Calif., in the California Classic last weekend. But the main course has now arrived! The Miami Heat will officially begin their five-game Las Vegas Summer League journey on Friday.
While we’ve already received a mini glimpse of what the puzzle looks like, who are five Heat players you should watch over the next two weeks? Here are my picks!
Ryan Conwell, G:
Skinny: This one is obvious.
While I will try to steer my focus toward the others on this list, Conwell’s going to draw every fan’s attention because he 1.) Was their most recent draft pick and 2.) Has a skillset that could make him a viable rotation candidate as a rookie.
Summer League performance isn’t the most important at the end of the day. But Conwell averaged 21.0 points and 5.0 rebounds in the California Classic as one of the showcase’s biggest standouts. Most importantly, however, the Heat’s No. 37 draft choice looked excellent defensively — a key trait that will always make you a candidate to play in Erik Spoelstra’s rotation.
Tre White, F:
Skinny: As we noted in our California Classic takeaways, there’s something here with White. The undrafted free agent signee averaged 13.5 points on 47.1 percent shooting and 42.9 percent from 3-point range across two California Classic games.
White was scoring from multiple levels, held his own defensively and attacked the glass. White’s 3-point shooting efficiency drastically improved a senior at Kansas. I want to see a bigger sample, but I’m intrigued.
Keyshawn Hall, F:
Skinny: I’ve had eyes on Hall since the beginning of his junior season at UCF in 2024-25. He’s an incredibly intriguing on-ball creator because of his blend of size and ball handling creativity. But Hall’s impact dropped dramatically as a senior, struggling to positively affect the game when he wasn’t scoring (or rebounding). He looked solid in San Francisco, but I want to continue to see him fit a role in Las Vegas.
Vlad Goldin, C:
Skinny: Goldin spent last season on a two-way contract with the Heat, only appearing in nine games. As one of the Heat’s only veterans in Las Vegas, I’m curious to see how Goldin continues to build off his somewhat encouraging California Classic. His rim protection stood out the most (in a good way). And Goldin also looked slimmer than he did at this time last year. Though I still have questions about his functional play strength and touch around the rim.
Ian Schieffelin, F:
Skinny: Schieffelin’s story is fascinating. The 6-foot-8 forward was a two-sport athlete at Clemson. He was second-team All-ACC in 2024-25, but he stopped playing basketball after 2024-25 because he couldn’t receive an extra year of eligibility. So he decided to suit up at Tight End under head coach Dabo Swinney for the 2025 season.
Evidently, now, he’s back playing basketball. The Clemson alum didn’t look like he missed a beat, scoring 11 points with eight rebounds and a pair of blocks in his Summer League debut against Golden State. Could he put himself in position to earn a two-way? Time will tell; his story is too awesome not to root for, regardless of where he ends up.

Summer league notes…
Our former player and 2qbn guy Zyon Pullin went for 24/9/12
Philon 18/3/7
Yaxel 21/10/6
Morez 21/8/3 3 steals, 2 blocks
Schieffelin made me think of UD when he left UF. He had skills but was nowhere near being in professional basketball shape. He made a commitment and the rest is history. He was one of the best conditioned athletes on the team. This guy also looks like he’s carrying a few too many extra pounds. Let’s see how bad he wants to stick in the league.
Interesting prospects. Hopefully a couple of them can be solid future rotation players. Too bad Keshad didn’t show more progress in his two seasons.
