Bam Adebayo’s 31-foot 3-point game-winner (!!!!!) rewarded the Miami Heat their second consecutive victory over the Detroit Pistons 104-101 Sunday evening inside Little Caesars Arena in Detroit Mich.

A once-17-point Heat lead was a two-possession game for the final five minutes. Detroit’s Cade Cunningham tied it at 101 with a layup with 43 seconds left. A Heat turnover gave Detroit one more crack at it.

It resulted in a failed Cunningham pull-up 3-pointer over Jaime Jaquez. Terry Rozier rebounded, raced down the floor with seconds ticking off the clock; Rozier pitched it back to Adebayo with two seconds left … and the rest was history!!!

Adebayo’s 3-pointer was his fourth triple of the season–his third in consecutive games. Miami’s dynamic big finished with 20 points, hauling in a game-high 17 rebounds with three assists and one steal.

Duncan Robinson was arguably the best Heat player Sunday, leading the Heat with 30 points on 10-of-15 shooting and 7-of-12 from 3-point range, in addition to four rebounds and five assists. Rozier had 17 points with six rebounds and nine assists on 8-of-20 shooting; Jaime Jaquez had 15 points on 6-of-14 shooting.

Evan Fournier–a famous “Heat killer”–led the Pistons with 18 points on 6-of-14 shooting and 4-of-8 from 3-point range. Cade Cunningham finished with 17 points and nine assists; Simone Fontecchio, who led Detroit in scoring in Friday’s meeting in Miami, was limited to 13 points and eight rebounds on 5-of-12 shooting; Isaiah Stewart had 12 points and six rebounds in 36 minutes; Jalen Duren had 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Both teams shot similarly from the floor; Miami shot 44.9 percent and 12-of-35 from distance (34.3 percent), Pistons shot 45.8 percent and 38.9 percent from 3-point range.

And thanks God for Dunc.

This was the classic White Men Can’t Jump “sometimes when you win, you actually lose”

This team opened the season with 4 guards in the rotation. Herro, Lowry, J-Rich, and Dru. As we come down the home stretch of the season, none of those guys are in uniform for the Heat.

I hate to use injuries as an excuse. Jimmy and Dunc can slide down to the SG spot. Heat added Rozier. Herro will hopefully be back for the playoffs. They can cobble together a rotation.

But they’re obviously so short of ballhandlers. If the Heat are going anywhere in the playoffs, Herro needs to get healthy and Rozier needs to be better. For the first time all season, I’m starting to worry.

Reality Czech

Okay, I ask again – what are you expecting from Rozier??? Last game, 18/5/1/1, this game 17/6/9/1 and NO TURNOVERS in this game. What more are you expecting? He’s a scorer/facilitator. His strength is not high percentage shooting and hasn’t been in his career. But he has had a solid assist to turnover ratio. He is providing everything I expected.

vagibugi

The truth is somewhere in between. Rosier is doing exactly what he suppose to do, but if he will do it with such efficienty as now, this team wont go anywhere.

Those two games just shows, that he cant be first or second option in the good team.
But he can be complementary player to Bam, Butler and, I hope, Herro.
His efficienty should go up playing with those three more.
If this would happen, then Heat can contend.

heat for life

he started out shooting terribly but his shooting has gotten better, shooting % is prob the most important stat though rc.love the way he plays.very crafty and shifty.top 8-10 pg.lowry was top 2 or 3 worse in league.

Bout30man

Good response.

“For the first time all season, I’m starting to worry.”
Ha Ha Ha! Worry about what? Miami is a mediocre team playing to the level of it’s competition. It isn’t the only team that has suffered injuries this year. It is what it is. I hope they win every game, but I’m not going to stress about it if they don’t. After all, it’s just a game. I’m more worried about things that really matter like climate change and whether we’ll still have a democracy in America in January, 2025. Things like that.
GO HEAT!!!

Bout30man

Excellent response. Things could get so bad come November, that professional sports will not provide much of a diversion anymore. Our society is about to undergo a highly stressful experience.

SunManFromDogBone

AMEN! I have faith democracy will survive. The alternative is very scary. I also have faith the Heat players will give everything they have. Win or lose, I can’t ask for more!
GO HEAT!!!

jjj played good d on cade the play before.dont overlook that.hes a 2 way player jjj.his d might be better than his offense right now

Bout30man

Exactly. And didn’t Wright get a little PT? He could give us a little help too and we can use it.

heat for life

it took a few patricia bricks to get him in,y spo put him in before wright is wrong

Big_guy305

Just finished watching the heat game, had it recorded. All I can say is what a finish from bam with that 3 point game winning shot. Spo has to let him take a couple a game now after seeing that lol. Also congrats to Duncan for being the fastest to 1000 3s, we needed all his 30 points, which is his 2nd 30 point game of his career I think. Also shoutout to rozier for another consecutive good game.

SunManFromDogBone

For Bam to get to the next level, he has to pose a threat of making 3’s. It will really open up his game and the team’s. If he can hit them at a clip like Brook Lopez, then you can pair him with a two-way C who is athletic, can rebound and defend who does not necessarily shoot the 3 well. There are several of those around the league.

Big_guy305

That’s exactly why I want bam to start hitting 3s, it would be easier for the team to go bigger without compromising the spacing. Also it raises the ceiling of the team. Bottom line this team would be more lethal.

ManilaHeat

I guess good plan sitting Butler to get ready for sixer game. Just watched the last 5min highlights Dunc balled but almost cost it with that turnover almost negating his 4pt play. Sh*t happens. 76er match will have impt implications in the standings. Go Heat!!
How more games this early?! Well as long as I wake up to a Heat W no complains 😆

SunManFromDogBone

Who needs Butler and Herro when you have Bam and Duncan shooting 3’s? 76ers next.
GO HEAT!!!

ManilaHeat

Bam shooting 100% past 3 games! lol

Alien

Bam likely knocking down 3s in practice more than we know. No wonder Spo and his teammates don’t mind him taking one or two 3s on the court.

ManilaHeat

The broadcast team mentioned that post game. He was making 3s in warmups

Sundayafternoons

The trail 3 he hit against Denver was exciting. He is gonna get that same shit opportunity a few times in games.

ManilaHeat

What’s better waking up to a Heat win? A Bam buzzer beater ftw!! Was looking forward for a bigger lead well same as last game but we’ll take any W these days.

Alien

My Hats off to Matt Hanifan!
I watched only the recap. As I watched his teammates jump up and hug Bam, It was Duncan’s joy that touched me most. I am happy you cut out that clip and posted it up here. Imagine Heat’s best 3 point shooter congratulating Bam for hitting such a clutch winning shot That is true camaraderie. Thanks again Matt Hanifan!

Alien

…..and Kudos to Rozier for trusing Bam.

heat for life
