GAME PREVIEW: Heat set for second night of a back-to-back against the Philadelphia 76ers

Bam Adebayo is coming off a 20/17 double-double against the Detroit Pistons on 69% shooting, including a huge buzzer beating 3-point game winner from 30 feet out.

Game story:

The Miami Heat are coming off a memorable St.Patty’s day victory yesterday afternoon against the Detroit Pistons. They improved to 37-30 on the season, took control of the seventh seed in the East and picked up two consecutive wins after dropping four games in a row.

Duncan Robinson dropped 30 points and became the fastest player to reach 1000 3-point makes in NBA history. However, the story of the game was the heroics from Bam Adebayo, who stepped up with a buzzer beating game winning 3-pointer. Adebayo had a monster 20/17 double-double on nearly 70% shooting. Terry Rozier also registered a strong performance with 17 points, 9 assists and 6 rebounds. He was a +20 when on the floor.

Miami enters Philadelphia tonight on the second night of a back-to-back on the road. This is a game with big importance to the tight Eastern Conference playoff race, as the Philadelphia 76ers sport an identical record to the Heat. Miami owns the tie breaker, and Philadelphia is without the services of Joel Embiid who is recovering from knee surgery. The 76ers are 11-22 on the season without Embiid.

The Heat are 5-5 over their last 10 games as the 76ers are 4-6 over their last 10. Philly also is being ran at the point guard position by former Heatle Kyle Lowry, who is expected to start tonight.

Miami has not submitted their injury report yet, but they will not have Tyler Herro or Kevin Love who did not travel with the team on this road trip. Jimmy Butler and Nikola Jovic’s status are yet to be determined, who both sat out yesterday’s game with foot and knee problems, respectively.

Tonight’s game will be nationally televised on ESPN at 7:30 PM EST.

i think jovic out due to performance, herros always hurt not tradeable.love is old aches pains take longer to heal.embid out all that matters, should be able to beat them w/o jimmy.maxey will be the best player on the ct in my opinion .

This is perhaps the most important game of the season as of yet, pertaining to the standings. We need this one. It’s super important we have Jimmy in there, if at all possible.

hes doing a commercial for amazon tonight ive been informed

…and another country music video?

Very interesting article on trade options this summer. I don’t see Miami trading Rozier, Robinson or Jovic, unless they are part of a multi-player/blockbuster deal. That leaves Herro and/or Butler. Something to consider.

I agree with you on who is more likely to stay and go. I remain adamant that giving Butler an extension that pays him $60 million a year as he approaches 40 would be utter insanity.

jim dont need the heat $$ turn on the tv now.the heat need jimmy big time for a few more years

heat for life

a jimmyless heat team is a 500team

Get your facts straight heat. Miami is actually 14-7 playing without Jimmy this season (9 of those wins were on the road). They are 23-23 with him.

SunManFromDogBone

Bam is the future of the franchise and deserves to be surrounded with quality players who will be around for a while.

Too many teams are rebuilding and leaving Miami in the dust (Boston, OKC, Cleveland, Orlando, Memphis, etc.). Others are a couple of players away from being true contenders (Knicks, Pacers, Kings, Rockets, Jazz, etc.).Miami needs to retool.

There are several teams with assets (young players and draft picks) that would gladly mortgage their futures for a shot at the title with Butler.Trading Herro for a legit two-way PF or C is a viable option. This summer should be very interesting.

GO HEAT!!!

bam is not a 1 type player.at least not yet.

heat for life

if u trade jim better get equal value and u wont .hes hfl like yours truly

SunManFromDogBone

Butler isn’t worth $60M a year until he’s 40. Miami can easily get a good young stud and picks for him. OKC has tons of both. That plus a legit PF/C for Herro and a sign and trade for Martin. VOILA! Makeover complete!!!

u cant get squat for martin or herro.teams are not trying to acquire avg players or injured players.a 37 yr old jim not gonna get much either.hes an hfl sun man .

It’s not unrealistic. If I was GM, that is exactly what I would do. We could get at least two firsts, and a good player, for Jimmy, maybe more. And, you have to trade Martin because of his contract, otherwise he’s a keeper. And I might trade Jovic, either as a sweetener in another trade, or by himself, but only if something made sense. No harm in seeing how Jovic looks a year older. With what we get for Ty, which could be less than we think (thus the Jovic idea) and what we get for Jimmy, we are competitive, with draft coming. And if we do fall back a little for a year, I won’t mind a little semi- rebuild.

heat for life

u trade jimmy your in a re tool re build mode
