In what turned out to be a crazy night in the NBA, the Miami Heat received a near triple-double effort from Bam Adebayo in their win against the San Antonio Spurs, tallying 30 points, 12 rebounds and 9 assists on 62% shooting. (Photo via Miami Heat)

In a thrilling finish, the Miami Heat edged out the San Antonio Spurs 105-103 on Saturday night, thanks to Bam Adebayo’s buzzer-beating 19-foot jumper. Adebayo delivered a standout performance, recording 30 points, 12 rebounds, and 9 dimes. This game-winner marks the third of his career, tying him with Dwyane Wade for the most in Heat history.

The Spurs, playing their second game in as many nights at home, were without All-Star Victor Wembanyama due to illness.

With this victory, Miami improved to 24-23 on the season, including a 12-13 record on the road. The Heat have now won 12 of their last 14 games against San Antonio, sweeping the season series for the second consecutive year.

Off the bench, Terry Rozier made a significant impact, contributing 19 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists. Tyler Herro struggled, scoring just 11 on 15 shots, but dished out 8 assists. Ultimately, this night was all about Adebayo in what will go down as the greatest performance of his 2024-25 season.

Keldon Johnson led the Spurs with 19 points, while Devin Vassell added 18. Despite a strong effort, San Antonio couldn’t overcome Miami’s late-game heroics.

The Heat will continue their road trip with a game against the Chicago Bulls on Tuesday night. Meanwhile, the Spurs are set to face the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday night.

2qbn

Not just the Warriors, but the Grizz and Bucks still in play. If either team wants to upgrade we have a guy named MeMe to trade you 😉

heat for life

heat for life

id prefer wiggins over anything milw or memphis giving us.middletons done. portis not needed so much now with jovic emerging got size now but no athletes on the wings

Big_guy305

So you wouldn’t take smart and clarke?

heat for life

when i watch memphis never see smart playing seems to be in street clothes alot.clarke never notice him believe he has pony tail.pennies on the dollar.if im pat (pat for life) im sitting the f down with jimmy apologizing for his boston avail comment telling him with our wemby jr and jovic in the rotation and with u ty and bam that lineup can do some damage in the east.with those 5 on the ct at the same time and playoff jimmy wow thats a dam good team.

SunManFromDogBone

Butler doesn’t want GS.

heatforlife

not a champ contender.a hole wants a ring.memphis makes the most sense now.or maybe phily

Alien

Remember that day in 2017 when the Heat selected Bam. I said the Heat got their Akeem Olajuwon. Bam, I am still waiting for you to prove me right.

SunManFromDogBone

Too short. As a PF, maybe Chris Webber or Chris Bosh.

Big_guy305

What about kg?

heat for life

closest guy to bams game i would say sean kemp.akeem had the best low post game ever with kevin mchale.bam has no low post game.hes a very good pf.id say top 3 pf.

SunManFromDogBone

Kemp was close but, unlike Bam, he never had a 20/10 season in the NBA.

heatforlife

hes the closest playing style to bam.kg was deadly on his baseline js bams not that.

Big_guy305

Great showing from bam, showing that he can be clutch when it matters. On another note I’m still shocked at that luka/ad trade, and still processing it. When I went to sleep yesterday, that was the only thing on my mind….

heat for life

nba trying to take attention away from super bowl.when was there ever a trade in any sport involving 2 superstars.ad and luka both top 10 players.very diff but both great players.

Alien

That is how a trade should go. Quiet and ambitious.

How many times have I lamented about all the noise that links the Heat with a trade. Less noise the better.

Durant traded from Golden State to The Sun- No Noise.

Lillard traded from Trailers to Bucks-No Noise.

Donovan Mitchell traded from Utah Jazz to Cleveland Cavaliers- No Noise.

Kyrie Irving traded from Brooklyn Nets to Dallas Maverick-No Noise.

Porzingis traded from Washington Wizard to the Celtics-No Noise

This list is endless.

I wish the Heat will learn a thing or two.

No pawn intended. Just I do not understand why we cannot wake up one morning with a surprise from the FO of the Heat striking a big trade deal.

Thanks!

Big_guy305

I see you where you going with that, maybe an old dog can’t learn new tricks, but we gonna see how it goes eventually.

Sundayafternoons

I started watching the NBA when Shaq was a Laker. That’s how I became a fan of Miami. He was just such an awesome player to watch. He was so fun. The Big Diesel.

Luka and LeBron has that same quality, awe, a hilarious good time, unique.

Has there been a billionaire who has taken two massive, generational loses in the span of three months before? Maybe, ya know, billionaires really aren’t all that smart huh?

vagibugi

You got money or brains.

heat for life

no kareem or wilt

Great moment for Bam. He deserved it and glad it worked out for him and the team. Hopefully we can fill the hole MeMe Butler has left on the roster with a contributor. This team needs more options.

SunManFromDogBone

Awesome finish in what was a much closer game than it should have been. It is clear the team needs another scorer and someone with very good playmaking skills. Hopefully, Riley is able to work his magic before Thursday. GO HEAT!!!

Bout30man

We could use some of that magic.
It’s ironic that Ware’s emergence happened in the same time frame as Jimmy’s suspensions. Ware helps shore up our biggest weakness, at center, and if Jimmy was on board and engaged, and also if Dru never got hurt, all we would have needed was your Kyle Kuzma idea and we would have had a real chance to at least get past the first round. But, that’s all just wishful thinking now.

SunManFromDogBone

Yup. I think Jimmy’s shit-fit came a couple of months too early. If he had known that Ware was going to emerge on the scene and that the Heat would be one trade away from playoff relevance (if he stayed and gave 100%), he might have played a different tune.

Oh well. We will never know. Butler made his bed, now he has to sleep in it. The only question now is: “Which city is that bed going to be located in?”

I would be satisfied with any of the following trades for Butler (with fillers and/or draft picks thrown in on either side to make the numbers match):

Golden State: Wiggins, Schroeder, Kuminga
Bucks: Middleton, Portis
Washington: Kuzma, Brogdon
New Orleans: Ingram, Jones
Sacramento: Fox, Lyles -or – DeRozan, Monk, Lyles
Chicago: LaVine -or- Vucevic and Ball -or- Vucevic, Ball and Coby White

If push comes to shove:
Phoenix: Beal (plus 3 first round picks in 2025, 2027. 2029, plus 2025 2nd round pick).

I also wouldn’t mind Heat making a minor trade or two and keeping Butler the rest of the season and getting cap space if he opts out or trading him to the highest bidder if he opts in. Meanwhile, if he acts up again, he can either be suspended, sent home with pay or bought out.

Bout30man

Nice list. I would be satisfied with those returns too, some of them more than satisfied.
But, what happens if there is no trade and Jimmy opts in, are we definitely able to trade him?. I guess if it’s only about cap space can we just give him away? I feel like it’s likely he will opt in as I doubt anyone gives him what we will. What then?

SunManFromDogBone
  • He should have thought about that before he pissed Riley off.
  • If he is forced to sit the rest of the season and then is worried about which hell hole he is going to be traded to this summer, I think he will opt out or have his agent work on a sign and trade to one of his preferred teams before next season.
  • If he is traded to Sacramento for example, he will be subject to a 14.4% state income tax with no extra salary. Not much better off tax wise if he goes to Brooklyn.
  • He would appear even stupider than he does now if he decides to opt in.
ManilaHeat

Im not liking the Bucks and Wizards list. Yes to the rest. Pat…a few more days. Tiktok, tiktok….

ManilaHeat

and i thought dwade has at least 5 game winners. good to know. meanwhile out west that AD/Luka swap…who do you think won that trade?

2qbn

For this season and next I would say the Mavs. Looking ahead you would think the Lakers, but if for some reason the Mavs can win the title then that changes things. It would make the Lakers have to at least win one to break even because in the end it’s all about titles, especially with the Lakers and Celtics rivalry. Boston has another chance at one this season.

vagibugi

Its obviously Lakers.
Davis a good player, but he is not near top 10 in the NBA. Luka is top 5, even fat and injured, and 1-2, when not.

This trade, as presented, makes no sense. So this is not over, there will be a lot of speculations for a while now.

But if Luka is worth AD and one first, how much is Butler worth?

I m a bit afraid to find out, but the answer could be a bloated contract and a second.

2qbn

Yes btu another teams stupid trade isn’t every others team stupid trade. Examples Minnesota with Gobert and Knicks with Bridges.

vagibugi

Yes, but this trade would send a message around the league, that top players are available for cheap, as unreasonable Goberts trade trigger some others of the same kind, like Briges one, or Crowders.

I think this trade could be indirectly connected also with new apron rules.
Cap space and flexibility will be the most valuable asset in future in getting top players.

Still, if somebody, LAL should be dead in the water, the least franchise to make such a trade. If thats possible, anything is possible.

2qbn

Butler is still worth another player with matching salaries, like a Wiggins, who we all agree would be useful, but his contract isn’t.

I would think this pushes the Warriors even more as the west is loading up and they’re on the verge of wasting a year for Curry. Jimmy can guard Bron or Luka. Just saying 😉

vagibugi

I think the whole league is in the state of shock. It will take a day or two for everybody to swallow this.

heat for life

davis is a great player bam is a good player ,davis is best defensive player in nba.can get u 30 any night.what bam did last night is what ad does on lots of nights.we saw ad up close in the finals torch us.few years ago.doncic is great to.but doesnt play any d.u cant go wrong with either one.the trade we want to see has not happened yet so f this trade im a heat fan only care about the heat

ManilaHeat

Lakeshow already having a hard time defending. AD their #1 defensive guy is gone they have to outscore their opponents. Im leaning towards Mavs on this. But we’ll see.
Butler is not worth that anymore obviously. A few more days and we’ll find out.
