While we are moments away from 2025 NBA Free Agency, we are less than one week away from the start of Summer League.
Next week, the Miami Heat will travel to the Bay Area for the annual California Classic for three games against the San Antonio Spurs, Los Angeles Lakers and Golden State Warriors, respectively, from June 5-8. Miami will then travel to Las Vegas, Nev., for five Summer League games, including four from July 11-17 against the Atlanta Hawks, Cleveland Cavaliers, Boston Celtics and Detroit Pistons.
The final of five NBA 2K26 Summer League games will be announced at a later date based on the team’s record and point differential.
Recall, last year, the Miami Heat won the Summer League after going 4-0, plus two additional wins over the Golden State Warriors and Memphis Grizzlies. I say this half-jokingly, but that was one of the most enjoyable parts about last season.
According to the team website, here is the official Summer League roster, which includes first-round draftee Kasparas Jakucionis plus second-year players Keshad Johnson, Pelle Larsson and Kel’el Ware, who made second-team All-Rookie in 2024-25:

I’m really looking forward to seeing Jakučionis, Larsson, Johnson and Ware on the floor at the same time and if they have good chemistry. This group may well be part of Miami’s future rotation.
All 1st and 2nd year players. We need to see the 2nd year guys dominate in summer league. Usually they only play a few games if they look real good. If I recall, they did let Struss go crazy all summer his 2nd year. It helped him lol
Too bad Dru isn’t quite ready yet.

I’m not sure how I feel about him. I will acknowledge he definitely gave off solid backup PG off bench vibes at times, but the injuries have me questioning if it’s worth it to keep him on a two way. Time and recovery will tell, I guess.
I’m a Dru guy. I think that if he stayed healthy, he would become a solid starting point guard for us. Now, it depends on if he fully recovers.
Back to back summer league champs!
Nuggs Porter to Nets for Cam Johnson and 1st Rd pick 2030(?). Busy off season.
We have the best summer league franchise 😎😄
Rumor is the organization is going to start hanging summer league banners.
I heard Keshad was initially left off the summer list because of an oversight by Ira. Thanks, Ira for freaking us out!
YUP!
