Duncan Robinson has signed a three-year, $48 million deal with the Detroit Pistons, ESPN NBA insider Shams Charania first reported Tuesday. Though as part of a sign-and-trade, the Heat will be getting fourth-year wing Simone Fontecchio.
After there was some speculation on whether Robinson, 31, would return, the Miami Herald’s Anthony Chiang reported Tuesday afternoon that the two sides were trending away from a reunion, with the Pistons interested.
The 6-foot-7 sharpshooter is the greatest shooter in Miami Heat history as the franchise’s all-time leader in made 3-pointers (1,202), made 3-pointers in the playoffs (147) and made 3-pointers in a single playoff game (8). For his Heat career, he averaged 11.3 points on 39.7 percent shooting from beyond the arc, eclipsing 39.0 percent from distance four times.
He developed into one of the Heat’s best all-around players. Robinson leveraged his gravity to not only help out the rest of the offense, developed as a self-creator, apply more rim pressure and become one of their best secondary playmakers. He was an excellent advantage exploiter and one of the biggest developmental successes in franchise history.
This is the Heat’s first move–outside of officially signing Kasparas Jakucionis to his rookie-scale contract–since free agency opened at 6 p.m. EST on Monday. In fact, it was almost exactly a 24-hour wait.
Most sign-and-trades are imbalanced. The Heat were not able to acquire any of Detroit’s second-round picks in return, instead opting to acquire Fontecchio, who will be entering the final year of his contract at $8.3 million. He averaged 5.9 points and 2.9 rebounds in 16.5 minutes on 54.4 percent true shooting for the Pistons last season.
As a result of taking back salary, Miami is hard-capped below the $207.8 million second apron, which it wasn’t going to exceed anyway. The Heat are still $5.5 million away from the luxury tax, $11.1 million below the first apron and $23.0 million away from the aforementioned second apron.

How did 19 teams pass this guy up?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aY71Vrv8Cw8
Random comment, but I see Vogel joining Mavs staff. I think Spo has not been well served by his support staff. It feels like since we lost Fizdale and Craig the quality has dropped. Not a huge Quinn fan, which is probably not fair, but I get that vibe. Was hoping the Suns would hire him, which is ironic as that is where Fizdale is right now.
I think it was Spo who wasn’t up to snuff last season. Riley said he needed to take a few weeks off. I think we will see a more invigorated Spo and coaching staff this year (without all the Riley/Butler drama).
its da players and the crappy gm .spos a non factor
30 leaves the heat were losing posters
Either that or you are gonna need to post twice as much to compensate. j/k you’re already over the max. No mas por favor. With all due respect.
Ayton to Lakers
I was coming on to post about it. Signing him increases the odds of a trade of Wiggins to the Lakers. Doesn’t mean it will happen, but better odd than if they needed to trade to get their center.
HELL NO! Riley can do better than Hachimura and Vincent. That would mean he got fleeced twice on Butler trade. Reaves and a first rounder would work. Otherwise, F*** The Lakers!
It was Rui and Knecht, plus a 1st. Lakers didn’t like the 1st. Vincent was not in the trade.
Right. If no Knecht, nyet!
Need to restock the cupboard of future white guys who we’ll get paid.
LMAO. Getting close to the legal max…I think it’s 10 now. *One must be European.
Did you say Reaves and Knecht plus a first? Sold!
no way there giving up reaves
I don’t think Riley is gonna give up the booty…twice.
thats a big get ad bron reaves ayton thats a nice 4 .as good as any 4?
sorry luka
It should. They’ve been in the center tryout business over there unsuccessfully with Len, Hayes, Jemison, Koloko, pf/c Kleber, and now Ayton.
weve been in the center business since the big 3 if we had a legit 7 footer quitters teams might have 2 rings
We had/have a legit center but quitter didn’t hang around long enough to find out how good. He had a “could gaf attitude” and started quiet quitting before Kel’el had even started his first game.
When Butler started quiet quitting and became disruptive he f***ed everybody’s heads & games up in the process, I think last season’s team could have been dangerous. Mitchell (via separate trade with Toronto) at the deadline, Herro, Butler (the version the Warriors got), Bam and Kel’el? Hell yes! Last year is on Butler. He is the one who stabbed his teammates and fans in the back! He’s the one responsible for 2024-2025 being a lost season.
Everything happens for a reason. If Heat don’t trade Butler they don’t get #20 pick (Jakucionis). He’ll be around after Quitter is long gone. This guy is versatile. He can play the 1, 2 and 3 positions. Summer League should be very revealing. This kid just turned 19 last week so cut him a little slack.
He was quitting before Ware was drafted. And while Bam is undersized, he was still considered one of the best centers in the league.
Bam is a good C in “small ball” setting. Otherwise. he’s a better PF than a C.
It will probably elevate his game. The potential is there…just not the intensity.
Horford probably going to Warriors.
Honestly I don’t mind watching our young guys compete next season. Obviously we are far from being relevant contenders, but we are not the worst team either.
Winning the off season doesn’t always translate into success in the regular season. As much as I would like to see Durant in the Heat jersey, it would be too risky at his age. Bucks were all excited when they got Dame and we know how it played out. Also Philly signing Paul George. And I think that the Warriors will eventually regret they traded for Jimmy, too.
I agree. This is the last hurrah for Warriors then they will be on to NBA purgatory.

I’m a glass half-full kind of guy, so I don’t allow down years to change that. FYI, in the NBA, a down year is when a team does not make the playoffs. Miami has missed the playoffs only once in the past 8 seasons (2019). Meanwhile, Charlotte hasn’t made the playoffs at all since 2016. I prefer to focus on potential, possibilities and trajectories, rather than recent disappointments or short term projections.
Looking at the bright side of things:
Here’s a detailed breakdown of Miami’s current trade exceptions:
I’m optimistic that the path has already been cleared for a Miami resurgence. I also think the team will become substantially younger, faster, more athletic and better defensively over the next 12-18 months. All that is needed is patience, continuing development of the younger players, strategic thinking, a willingness to pull the trigger on positive trades and the ability to select good draft picks and free agents that will fit Miami’s team culture and long term goals.
Contrary to what some folks around here may feel, the sky is not falling. Consider 2025-2026 as a gap year that will provide an opportunity for the Heat to regroup, refocus and redefine what kind of team it will be in the future. It is also possibly the perfect time for Riley to decide to retire in order to allow the organization and the team to evolve.
Meanwhile, I intend to fully enjoy watching the young players develop. I am particularly high on the futures of Ware, Johnson and Jakucionis. The summer league should give us a glimpse of that future. I intend to continue watching the team then and throughout the coming season with a positive outlook for the future.
Summer League starts this weekend at the California Classic.
July 5th vs Spurs, 6th vs Lakers and 8th vs Warriors.
GO HEAT!!!
Yoi have definitely put some effort into this post. Brilliant! Thanks. I agree 100%.
Thanks Sharkey. If there is a will there is a way. Instant gratification is fools gold.
Testify!
People want it fixed but don’t want to go through the process of fixing it. This is the way.
Patience is a virtue. Too many people around here have been spoiled. Change can’t always happen with the snap of a finger. As long as there is a path to improving the team, I’m good with it.
sounds great no guarantee on us getting good again so fast .of course we hope so .but 29 teams are trying to improve along with us and we have an 80 year old gm,and no young studs.we have long way to go about 25 teams to hurdle as of today.,being realistic we are in a bad situation right now,not one good young player on roster
‘Not one good young player on roster’.
That is so you!
Right? Too funny.
no diff makers .the way to get real good is trade bam herro suk for 3-5 years
I disagree on the 3-5 years, as well as trading Bam. I wouldn’t be against trading Herro if someone was willing to give up multiple 1st round picks, but because he didn’t play well vs Cavs doesn’t mean he’s not a difference maker. He’s been a 6MOTY, as well as an All Star last year. The problem is the Cavs knew there was zero offensive threat from anyone else and the fully focused on him. Why in the heck do you think Davion went off? Because pretty much all of the D was focused on Herro. When Herro was a rookie on a team with more offensive options, he cooked.
Serious question, if Tyler wasn’t on this team, who would take the last shot? Who do you trust in the 4th? For all his faults, Tyler is ice cold in the 4th or late game situations. I’ve seen him build a school with bricks for 3 quarters several times and when it was the 4th he goes nuclear and they win the game, or at minimum end up with a chance.
Until you know you can replace that type of late game clutch player, he’s on the team.
1 Tyler should be worth 1 Kuminga plus 1 DeRozen. Jus sayin…
name please?bam is a vet
Why should I name anybody? So you could dispute it? Set a trap for someone else, I don’t want the cheese that badly.
Ware, but he needs a little seasoning.
Mitchell is a bulldog who could play for any team. Combo McConnell & Caruso. Johnson, once he fully blossoms and uses his God given physical talent. He can be a Butler/Ant type player. He doesn’t yet realize he has the potential to be a real animal. One of top 10 most physical players in the NBA.
Jovic is a late bloomer who has not yet matured enough to take the bull by the horns and use his size, strength and skills. I keep forgetting he is still just 22 (last month). If he is ever going to make the jump to the next level, this is the year.
Jakucionis is an interesting player. Just like Johnson, I see something special about this kid. For some reason, I see the second coming of Dragic in him (only better). Check out his highlights.
https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=jakucionis+highlights
Speaking of Dragic, I understood he is going to join the Miami Heat organization next season, in some capacity, though his exact role hasn’t been defined. He has expressed interest in staying involved with the Heat, potentially in a coaching or front office role. His dream has been to work for the Heat someday.
I miss that dude. He would make an excellent coach, role model and mentor to the young kid(s).
I think Riley can either pull a rabbit out of his hat and make a trade or two that will help elevate the team’s performance or he can f/u. If he does f/u that should be his last straw.
He has all the ingredients in front of him to clean house and re-stock the team with quality younger players and seasoned veterans. If he handles this properly, I can see Miami being able to do some serious damage around the league by 2026-2027.
Yes, and before the pitchfork bearers come to burn the castle down, we are aware, as the article states, that there may not be any A level whales available after the upcoming season. This is about rebuilding with youth, holding on to our draft assets, and possibly adding to them with minor trades of players like slo-mo, Rozier (assuming the bounce back), Highsmith, and others by or before the trading deadline.
I haven’t bailed out on the team in down years and I’m not going to do so now.
Bravo RC. If this is the low point, I can’t wait to see the team when the pendulum swings back the other way. One thing is for sure, the team is getting younger and this is only the beginning. Unless a ss is brought in by next summer, Bam should be the oldest player on the team (28).
https://www.miamiherald.com/sports/nba/miami-heat/article307405481.html
Great article by the long term Heat beat writer who knows ‘squat’. Don’t read it if you like him, but it is detailed, reasonable, and a bit funny when describing we disgruntled fans.
We won’t need to go whale hunting. The whale will come to us in the lotto next year. Add another young talented player to this mix. 😉
barrys a geek.not an insider ira and bj2qb the heat insiders
Like I said, you don’t like him, don’t read it,
EXACTLY!
“So the current plan — letting the kids play and hoping the team can someday reel in an in-his-prime whale — will require more patience from a fan base wielding pitchforks and calling for immediate action. And there is something to be said for investing in youth.
For Heat fans of a certain age, there have been several eras of instant gratification — the Shaquille O’Neal/Dwyane Wade years, the Big Three era, the first few years of the Butler incarnation. This isn’t one of those eras.
So Miami is taking the long view here, and for better or worse, it’s probably the most realistic remaining path.”
So, are we all getting excited about Simone Fonteccio?
I heard he makes a great lasagna!
He is from Pescara, so probably not. I just pass that town two or three year ago, so I cant say what would be local famous stuff. Some kind of pasta would be a good bet.
Nevertheless, the best thing about Italians is that they respect food. Some of that shouldn’t be bad in the land of burgers.
Hmm, maybe I should have known that since (spoiler alert) my roots trace back mostly to Calabria and Naples. 😀 🍕
Naples? I thought you were from Ft. Myers.
😆
Not me, but I heard an inventor had a lab there. People told me he was Eddie’s son.
Pizza guy. I new that. 🙂
I’m excited with his trade exception. A few extra bucks to work with on potential Rozier and/or Wiggins trades.
So, yes. Bring on the lasagna!
hes built like a linebacker.cant recall any italian players for the heat.did iavaroni play for us dont like googling.just pure bball knowledge.
I remember the Heat spent a couple years going after Galinari, but I don’t think they ever landed him
You are right. The Heat tried to sign him, but in the end he went to some other team, I think Atlanta. At the time he was quite an impactful player. Power forward with an excellent three point shot
As I recall, his defense sucked.
Thank God!
Not surprising nor earth shattering deal. Happy for Robby. Still pissed Heat brass felt soooo compelled to make playoffs vs taking hold of 11th lottery slot subsequently turning into Cooper. Not to say this miracle would’ve repeated itself as it did for Dallas…but we all recall how the ping pong balls bounced when Bulls lucked into Derrick Rose. We’ll never know…
20th pick turned in Jakucionis so there’s that. In this world, you take what you can get.
This is going to be my last post for awhile. The team is in a shambles and our frustrations on this site are spilling out and it is becoming unpleasant.
The Duncan Robinson trade for Simone F is a fitting place to hop off as it is a microcosm of where we went wrong over these last few years.
Since I am leaving, I offer this parting shot,..Our GM, whose legacy is fantastic, went off track somewhere about three years ago and made this team unlike any other and it won’t be fixed until he is gone.
When we get a new GM, one who is in touch with the current nba, things can improve very quickly. Till then. we will be in purgatory. We will speak again in the AP (after Pat) era.
We might disagree sometimes, but we could also often find a common ground. Not happy about you leaving.
Come on, man. I hope you will reconsider or come back soon. There’s been too much negativity in the world lately. I turn to sports and rooting for our team to get away from all of that and help myself feel a little better. It’s sad to hear that the current state of things with the Heat is making you feel bad. Anyway, we feel you man. You will be missed if you indeed go take a break from posting.
come on 30 the heat has been good to us for about 30 years.we will be back soon hopefully .but i am just as frustrated as u are.pat does need to retire asap.he looks worn out.
I’ve been considering moving out of the US for some time now, because one side of the political spectrum here wants to take away my rights, and the other side of the political spectrum just wants me dead.
I understand that it’s frustrating when someone you otherwise admire makes decisions you don’t like or understand. But this feels like an overreaction from you. We’re talking about a sports team. They could lose 82 straight games, and you’ll wake up the next day the same person. And if you tell me you don’t want to root for a team that lost 82 straight games, sure I get it.
But personally, I come here to find things that I like, not to dwell on those things that I don’t.
My second-favorite player on the team had a massive meltdown in the middle of the season and absolutely wrecked the rest of the team. He dropped in my estimation, but the rest of the roster were still people I like.
My favorite player on the team was just traded to Detroit for a guy I’ve never heard of, and who doesn’t really feel like a significant part of the team’s future. But we still have Bam and Tyler. I want to get to know Davion better and I want to watch Jovic grow into a more solid player. And who knows, maybe Fontecchio will surprise me.
Are you telling us that there’s *nothing* to like about the team as currently constructed? That you don’t want to see Bam and Ware develop more on-court chemistry? That Burks isn’t going to be fun to watch? That our youth movement has no potential?
And again, I understand some level of frustration. And exchanging different opinions is part of what makes a place like this fun. But at the end of the day, no decision that Pat Riley makes is going to change anything as fundamental as who you can marry, or whether or not you’re allowed to use public restrooms. Nobody is going to be chanting for your death on the streets because Pat Riley traded for a player you don’t like.
Just a little perspective. I hope whatever decision you make is the right one for you.
I had to reply to this comment even though I appreciate all of your responses and your comments and will be reading them. Emily, thanks for opening up so much and offering some excellent perspective. My taking a break is not about the team being good or bad. I still love the team and care about them no matter what and always will.
Go Heat!
Hopefully you’re not gone too long. I will have to sign on to the Panthers blog just so I can go there and disagree with you about something. 😆😆😆
30s more of a pucks guy anyway.im more bball and football but becuse of panthers swaying that way little more these days.for me fins heat top 2 teams.best team by far is panthers right now.old saying everybody loves a winner.just want all so fla teams to win basically ,even the penny pinching marlins bj2qb and i enjoy
I fwu bout30, we may have our disagreements sometimes, but I still respect you, first and foremost like everyone else, no hate towards anyone. I understand where your coming from, and it’s all good take your break, and we will all be here holding it down….until you ready type shit.
After the first 3 summer games you’ll be back here posting because you won’t have any other outlet for your uncontrollable optimism and enthusiasm. Same with h4l.
I did the homework to see where Duncan Robinson ranks among the best shooting guards in Heat history.
Top-5 is set in stone:
(1) D-Wade
(2) Eddie Jones
(3) Ray Allen
(4) Steve Smith
(5) Glen Rice
You can quibble with the order, but no other Heat shooting guard is breaking into that top-5.
After that, it’s pretty open. You can argue for Dan Majerle, J-Rich, Q-Rich, Jim Jackson, Harold Minor, Voshon Leonard, or even Dion Waiters if you’re a real sicko. Duncan belongs among that group. Not top-5, but probably top-10 Heat Shooting Guard of All-Time. And one other I’ll say, none of those other 6-12 guys made multiple runs to the Finals.
Fare thee well Dunc. Thanks for the memories
Well, technically, is Dunc a shooting guard or small forward? If he is a later, then there is the wrong list.
best pure shooter ever ray allen second best uncan.third prob tyler
I was thinking, since I am one who wants to play young and hope it leads to progress for them, but also a lottery pick, your list should provide hope. The Heat have only had 4 picks in the top 5 and your list has 3 of the 4 in Wade (5), SS (5), and Rice (4). The other of course was super cool Beez. But the point stands.
People want to complain that we suck but don’t want to go through the process of fixing it. Land in the lotto while playing the young guys. This team is finally due for some lotto luck.
g money sf im putting ty #4 .ray here to short time kevin edwards #5
I’m gonna agree the Glen Rice was probably more of a Small Forward. And i can’t believe I forgot Tyler. But I still got Ray in the top-5. He made the greatest shot in Heat history (unless you want to talk about the Anthony Carter over-the-backboard shot against the Knicks)
Lets assume, Heat will try to get rid of vets like Rosier, Wiggins, Love, Anderson and Burks. How the team will look after that;
Starting lineup:
Kaspar, Herro, Bam, Ware, HH
Bench
Mitchell, Jovic, JJJ, Dru, Simone, Pelle, KJ
There is no player over 30 there, which is a good thing. There are 3 point guards, which is good, a lot of wings, which is also good, but we are a little thin in frontcourt, and there should be a good shooter in the team.
So, I expect a trade where a backup C would come back, a resign of Burks. If there will be no trade, then there Anderson will be a backup center. .
In this case, Wiggins will replace HH in starting lineup, and Anderson will get rotation minutes.
So no big moves this off season.
I think it’ll be tough to move Rozier and Wiggins personally. Someone could want Terry for the expiring contract, but if Miami is leaning into the youth movement, they should want Terry too, for the cap space he’ll provide next year.
And I think Wiggins player option, given his declining value around the league, makes him tough to move as well. Maybe he’d be a better fit elsewhere, but I just can’t imagine Miami getting a haul for either of these guys.
I’d also make the argument that if they do find partners for Wiggins and or Rozier, it would be a crime to play Highsmith over the 22 year old Jovic and 24 year old Jaquez. That isn’t to crap on Highsmith or his abilities, it’s just they should lean into maximizing minutes for the young players on the team.
I know that’s anti ‘Heat Culture’, but if we’re being real, Heat culture appeared to die last year. Time to work on bringing in and maximizing growth of young talent, not claiming to out work everyone.
Heat Culture may not mean too much this season. The times they are a changin.
Spo tends to have a defensive specialist in starting lineup, which makes sense with Herro and (probably Kaspar) in starting lineup.
I don’t think you are wrong – I just think it’s malpractice. Trying to win 40ish games with this roster, giving minutes to pieces who won’t be here the next time Miami is good, is not beneficial to the organization.
Spo may do it, Riley may like it, but competing in the play-in game, as a never gonna win team, isn’t good in the long run.
Either go all in, pay the prohibitive luxury tax, fill your team with old dudes, or lean into the temporary pain and maximize the kids playing time, improve draft odds and focus on the future. Anything in between is just dumb.
even if no trades happen, Rozier expires next year and Wiggins the year after.
Otherwise everyone on this team is 28 or younger.
One of the biggest reasons I hated the Wiggins trade
You’re not allowed to look in to the future to see where we’re going. 😉
Good post.
Somebody gave Dunc 16/mio a year?
Thats just crazy. I like him, but he is just not that level player.
But I wish him luck.
But, of course, another white boy is coming to replace him.
3rd year not guaranteed and second only partially (don’t know to what amount).
But still good. Good for him. Wish him luck, too. He had a significant role on the Heat team for many seasons.
The only way you move a Dunc is to get a Simone. It’s the way of the world.
Herald reporting the Heat are not pursuing either Kuminga or DeRozan. I must admit I am confused by that. Nonetheless, I am and will remain a Heat fan.
Kuminga I can understand because of age and offensive profile, but Warriors want more than what Miami is willing to give, plus we are blocked from some picks due to the Rozier trade. There is a risk of a repeat in that move.
DeRozan would be fun for a season, but at what price? If Wiggins for DeRozan, yes. Any more than that, I would say no.
barry jackson doesnt know squat.iras good with rumors.2qbn pretty good 2 he got s@t dunc for font way before it happened
I can only hope it’s because the Heat have someone else in their sights. Although I would have been much more confident making that statement a couple offseasons ago
So far in this offseason, the Heat have been unable to make the kind of moves they used to. Used to be so exciting.
Getting DeRozan would be a mistake. He would eat young players minutes, especially in crunch time.
Kuminga makes sense only in case, if there is a belief, that he is a building block of the contender team. He wasnt that in GS.
Me too. As Lt. Mayo said in Officer and a Gentleman, “We got no place else to go.”
due to the heat my hockey genes are spiking.might change my name to panther4l where can i get a name change.thank u mr zito
maybe go bandwagon4life, then you don’t have to keep changing your screen name
true but its hard to like a sorry team, its like u have a girl friend and she gains 25 pounds and the girl across the street lost 25 pounds and is hotter now
that comment is so sad that it made me feel sorry for you
That is exactly right!
For better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, until death do us part.
Disclaimer: unless you gain 25 or more pounds.
🤣
It’s been 24 months since the Heat were in the NBA Finals.
Pat Better watch out!
You sure love that guy. Not sure he loves you back anymore. It’s unrequited.
hardaway jr goes to denver doesnt resign with det my bad big.atl orl improved.we’ll be battling charl for 3rd place
remember when the Sixers won the offseason last year?
pgs been washed for years thats not true
The Sixers are going to be strong if Embiid can play. Even if not, they will still be pretty good. But, it’s true that things can change fast. Who would think Boston’s team would go downhill.
Duncan, congrats!
I enjoyed your time with the Heat.
i didnt
your lack of joy has been well documented
team suks for now still love the heat but they suk hope that changes soon
This may be one of our worst years in a while. This idea of playing the youngsters will be fun and interesting, but it will also be quite frustrating.
Yes, we won’t be champs, but we have a pretty good shot to win the play in again 🙂
Me too. Duncan got everything out of his opportunity.
Warriors in touch in Dame’s camp. Lure of playing close to home. Ironic AF he would end up playing with Jimmy on another team. lol
From a fan perspective, him coming back for a playoff run on that team would bring some hype. So add that wrinkle to the western conference playoffs for next season if it happens.
good one makes lots sense bay area kid.your the new barry jackson of hhh.how bout bj2qbn
It would be another huge mistake by Golden State. That is another desperate team, grasping for straws.
Bye Dunc. Just don’t torch the Heat when you face them lol
Well, there goes our shot at getting a ring in 2026. Detroit just put the rest of the league on notice.
Good for Duncan, getting another bag.
Good for Miami, turning a $20m cap hit into an $8m cap hit.
There are likely more moves to come. We shall see.
Good for Duncan. I’d say good for Miami, but I don’t understand the benefit of getting a 8m cap hit in this sign and trade.
Hopefully Pat’s playing chess and has another move lined up, but I assume he’s playing checkers and we just got another weird hodge podge piece that doesn’t really fit the roster. Great 3 point shooter? No. Ultra athletic? No! Good defender? No.
Sign Pat up.
Usually when you take back a cap hit that you aren’t going to play, you get a draft pick. Not Miami.
The $8 million is Fontechio’s cap hit.
Supposedly 1 dude on a pistons blog said we could possibly get a tpe for around 6 mill with that trade. Idk if that’s true or not tho…
They still have money to sign someone, but roster is at 14 right now, right? So one guy, and recently, they have loved to roll with 14, which kind of drives me crazy.
So one spot and/or trade still on the table.
I don’t think pat is done making trades, I think he something else lined up, hopefully.
There has to be something coming. We’ve gone two straight offseasons without a move. Our last two trade deadline moves were the Rozier trade and the Butler trade. And we just got boatraced in the first round by a team that lost in the second round.
If the Heat don’t make a move this offseason, I will take a hiatus from being the #1 Pat Riley defender on HHH
That could very well be a very well earned hiatus. And I must say you have the patience of Jobe.
This type of reaction is why I really struggle with this site lately. The Heat were in the NBA Finals two seasons ago. There are lots of teams that have never been to the NBA Finals. Even more teams that haven’t been to the NBA Finals in decades.
Is it fair to question the front office if they go three straight offseasons without a significant upgrade? Sure. But saying I have “the patience of Jobe” after the Heat made the Conference Finals three times and the NBA Finals two times in the past 6 seasons is patently ridiculous. I think it is much more accurate to say that this fanbase has the patience of a goldfish
I have no issue with people being disappointed that the Heat has made no significant improvement, at least not yet, and maybe they won’t. My issue is with the hate and vitriol against the team, and disrespect by posters who feel anyone who disagrees with them is an idiot, naive, or delusional.
yeah, i will allow people their frustrations, even if I disagree. People like @Bout30 view things differently than I do. We disagree. That’s fine.
I definitely noticed the HHHfan4life dude show up and start cursing at people and insulting them. Heat4life used to be bad but I feel like he’s adapted to the culture of HHH some. Or at least I’ve gotten used to him.
But in the end, the thing that has made HHH so special is that most everyone here is a heat fan, we all want the same thing, and we all treat each other like normal humans that know each other. If this place starts to take on the personality of twitter (random people calling each other idiots), then we lose the thing that makes this place special.
It seems pretty obvious there are no mods. We can try to police it ourselves. But the internet is pretty undefeated. Hopefully we can make it last another few season…
As far I remember, there was always a kind of black sheep around, but HHH maintain a decent level of debate.
agreed. It just feels like the black sheep are starting to outnumber the decent people. Maybe I’m just bummed because the Heat are about to whiff on a third straight offseason. But I miss the good old days of when we were all just joking about Beasley coming back for a 5th time, instead of complaining about how terrible everything is
Could be worse.
We could have traded Duncan for *Malik* Beasley.
Maybe you could look in the mirror. Seems like you only like to be the criticizee. I’m thinking of leaving the site too, and it’s because of people who say things like you. I’m sorry if two years is too early to criticize but three is okay. I guess you make sense to yourself.
It is sad that our frustrations with the GM, who was great, and now is no longer effective, are causing all our fans to implode on each other. It appears that this is going to be a long, difficult season. It hasn’t even started and things may get worse when the losses start piling up.
It would be better to see this from the everyone is in the same boat perspective. We are all going thru this together and it’s going to be a bumpy ride.
It’s been awhile coming, but you finally got me to come back at you. This isn’t fun for me anymore.
Thanks oregoner for your comments. Thanks to RC and vagi as well. It feels good to be reassured about the true spirit of this site and people sharing the same attitude and values.
And I was just trying to be complementary.
You’re good dude. We’re allowed to disagree. And don’t take this stuff to personally, I think we were all bitching about HHHfan4life, not you
6.9 million trade exception should help with possibly making another move…. whatever that might be, but I feel you on that part about Riley.
It’s being reported the roster is at 15, but with this move they created a $6.9 million trade exception.
What are some possibilities we could do with that trade exception?
We can put that exception towards a trade. Teams waiting a bit for the smoke to clear. For example, the Lakers need to sign a center so they can have guys to trade in possible Wiggins trade. If they have to trade for a center then that option is out the window.
Yes, including Simone, we are at 15. Championship here we come!
Stop it. Even you know this year isn’t championship.
I actually hope they don’t make moves for meh guys. I want them to really have a chance at a great lotto pick while playing the young guys. Sell off parts at the deadline and go into next season in a better position with money, and possibly having a couple of these young guys take the next step.
😉
But we are the Summer League champions and Play in Legends. And we have a pretty good shot at both this year.
Weird hodgepodge piece that definitely moves no needles. Sign Pat up indeed.
Riley has as many rings as he has fingers. He has done right by Miami for 30yrs I trust him.
Miami Heat where we help white guys get paid. Strus and Duncan cashing in. 😉
This is why UDFA’s want to come here, but also why we need to start valuing 2nd round picks. For as good as they are in the UDFA game, imagine if we had a crack in the 2nd round most years.
I’m happy for Duncan. 2nd best UDFA in Heat history after UD.
The Miami Throwbacks. It’s an alternative universe, like bizzaro world. I’m happy for Duncan too. He goes to a better place.
