Heat-Bulls postponed due to slippery court conditions

Heat Bulls
The Miami Heat and Chicago Bulls were slated to play inside United Center at 8:00 p.m. EST. (Mandatory Credit: Luke Hales/Getty Images)

For a game that originally scheduled to tip off around 8:15 p.m. EST, the match between the Miami Heat and Chicago Bulls was postponed due to slippery court conditions, ESPN NBA insider Shams Charania confirmed.

The game was delayed for over 90 minutes before the game was called. Both teams entered and exited the locker room on multiple occasions awaiting a result before the league’s announcement.

The scheduled time for the makeup game has not been announced at the time of publishing.

Neither team plays Friday, though the Miami Heat will have three road games in three days, if it got pushed back to Friday (hypothetically). Additionally, the Chicago Blackhawks host the Washington Capitals inside United Center Friday night, so it feels unlikely that the league would put the Heat in that situation (unless they really hate Miami).

The Heat bested the Bulls in their first meeting on Nov. 21, 143-107. Miami entered at 20-17 — coming off a 28-point loss to Minnesota — while Chicago was 17-20.

As of right now, Miami’s next scheduled game will be Saturday night against the Indiana Pacers at 7:00 p.m. EST before concluding its four-game road-trip Sunday against Oklahoma City.

I believe we should not include Ware or Jaquez in a trade, unless we are trading for Giannis. These kids are our future and they are cheap. JJJ is a 6MOY contender and Ware our best rebounder averaging double double.
Although I respect Bam and he is a great player, I would rather trade him than Ware (as blasphemous as it sounds). I have concerns regarding Bam’s fit in the current run&gun offense. He seems to struggle in it and is very inconsistent. He is not a player that will create for himself and is undersized compared to opposing 7 footers. His best offensive weapon is his mid range shot and quickness against slower bigs, but the Heat don’t/can’t use it in this year’s offense. His ppg average is declining third straight year and he is set to make 52 mil. $ next season and 60 mil in 2028/29. That’s a lot of $ for a 15 ppg, 9 rpg guy.

Two people taking up most of the cap space aren’t even pulling their weight, Herro and bam one misses more games than he plays and the other got his head so far up aja rear if he spits it’s coming out of her mouth. Underwhelming year for both of them which brings us back to something I stated last year. Trade both and start over this team is a middling mediocre mess. No ss ofc and no up and coming young talented players no matter how much we believe in jjj or Kas I mean maybe ware will be something but the jury is still out. This is what happens when the team keeps picking in the teens every year and putting lipstick on a pig

I don’t disagree with you. However, I think Riley/Spo consider Herro an important part of the rotation, per yesterday’s Yardbarker. (see below)

“Herro was penciled into the starting lineup for Thursday’s game against Chicago prior to the postponement.Herro is expected to start against Indiana while center Kel’el Ware comes off the bench. Ware started 11 games while Herro was sidelined and had 11 rebounds in the loss to the Timberwolves.Spoelstra said Herro’s return provides an immediate boost for the entire lineup.“We need his talent. We need his edginess. We need his swag,” Spoelstra said. “We need all of it right now, and I’m just excited that we have him back in the mix.”
The article also addressed Bam.

“Miami could also use a spark from forward Bam Adebayo, who was held to seven points on 3-of-11 shooting in Tuesday’s loss to Minnesota. He is averaging 11.5 points on 34.6 percent shooting over his last four games.”
Bam’s underperformance hasn’t gone unnoticed. He was a former 20/10 player. However, he hasn’t scored more than 20 points in a game for 5 weeks.

Bam’s stats have declined for years. For example:

ppg is down from 20.4 in 2023-2024 to 16.9 nowrebounds dropped from 10.4 in 2023-2024 to 9.6 nowassists have dropped from 4.3 in2024-2025 to 2.6 nowfg% has dropped steadily from 57% in 2020-2021 to 45.1 now3 pt % has dropped from 35.7 the past two years to 32.5 nowsteals are down from 1.4 in 2024-2025 to 0.8 this season
There may be something to your Aja theory. Maybe he’s preoccupied with her or hoping for a trade to one of the western teams (e.g., LAC, LAL, GSW, PHX, etc.) to be closer to Vegas where Aja plays.

Bam and Herro are both expendable, if Miami is able to get young players, draft picks and expiring contracts in exchange for them it should be considered. For that matter, so are players such as Wiggins and Powell. What Miami does not need to do is sit idly by while the rest of the league keeps getting younger and better.

I would rather get demar over Sabonis tbh. Sabonis is a bad fit for the heat. He doesn’t really fit the offense, and his D is worst then jovic. Plus I rather have bam and ware start, Sabonis on the bench doesn’t make sense either.

I agree. DeRozan coming off the bench makes sense. He’s a very good closer from mid-range. Sacto is tanking so Rozier’s expiring contract (which may be fully reimbursable if he is convicted) is a good match. His contract is only partially guaranteed next year for $10M.

Yep, Sabonis is too expensive. We could use DeRozan’s shooting.

The Miami Heat could be a very likely next destination for Memphis Grizzlies two-time NBA All-Star guard Ja Morant. For the first time, the Grizzlies are entertaining offers for Morant, according to NBA insider Shams Charania.

The Heat have multiple talented young players that could be on the move if they’re set on trading for Morant.

Center Kel’el Ware, the second-year player out of Indiana, would be the centerpiece in a trade for Morant. He is one of just eight players in the NBA who are currently averaging a double-double or better.
Another young player who could be included is Jaime Jaquez Jr. who has emerged to become one of the most productive sixth men in the NBA. Jaquez is averaging 16.2 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game this season. He has the second-highest odds, just behind Naz Reid, to win the Sixth Man of the Year award.
If either one of these players are sent to Memphis, it will be hard not to conclude that Riley is either totally incompetent or senile. Herro plus Fontecchio, maybe.

From CBS Sports….Ja
With a little less than a month to the trade deadline, teams could start to put together legitimate offers, as ESPN reports he will generate some interest on the market. However, it might not look much different than the market the Hawks just had for Young when they decided to trade him to the Wizards earlier this week. The Hawks got McCollum and Kispert in return for Young, certainly not the type of robust package you’d expect from trading a four-time All Star who is still just 27 years old.
The Grizzlies could face a similarly frosty market, as Morant presents some of the same flaws Young has. He’s an undersized guard who has his limitations on both sides of the floor, but unlike Young, Morant isn’t a reliable jump shooter. Morant’s also lost a step in athleticism due to injuries in the last couple of years. That athleticism used to be his biggest strength, as he was capable of zipping past guys in a flash for a jaw-dropping finish at the rim. But his efficiency around the rim has been declining and so too has his ability in actually getting there.
We’ll see what the market sets Morant’s value at, but the Grizzlies are prioritizing, draft picks, and young players in return, per ESPN’s report. It’s unclear exactly what type of draft capital the Grizzlies want in return, because given the Hawks got zero first-round picks for Young, it would be difficult to see Memphis getting one for Morant. But you never know, teams could get desperate. There’s not a list of teams with known interest in Morant right now, but canvassing the league, you can see a few teams that could fit into that desperate category. Namely the Bucks and Kings.

With the Reds…2000-2007
This was the most significant period for missed games, totaling 453 missed games with multiple injuries, including:

  • Torn left hamstring (2001).
  • Torn right patellar tendon & right hamstring (2002).
  • Dislocated right shoulder & torn right ankle tendon (2003).
  • Another torn right hamstring (2004).

I don’t know if this writer from Heavy is mainlining ketamine, but under no circumstances would I agree to this for a player who has played 38% of games the last several years.

The Heat have multiple talented young players that could be on the move if they’re set on trading for Morant.
Center Kel’el Ware, the second-year player out of Indiana, would be the centerpiece in a trade for Morant. He is one of just eight players in the NBA who are currently averaging a double-double or better.
Ware showed flashes during his rookie season, but his production has taken a step forward as a sophomore. He’s been one of the most efficient shooting big men in the NBA, shooting 43% from three and 81.5% from the free-throw line.
Another young player who could be included is Jaime Jaquez Jr. After battling a slump in his second season, Jaquez has emerged to become one of the most productive sixth men in the NBA.

I still think Herro for Dejounte Murray works. Throw in Johnson for Matkovic.

Add Rozier for DeRozan.

After Jan 15 add Wiggins for Kuminga plus Quentin Post.

At the end of the day Mia needs a ss or up and coming type player. The problem with heat culture is that pride can and will be a downfall of a franchise. This team has been and will be stuck in purgatory until one of either pat retires and some young blood gets into the fo or Mia trades for a ss yes we may not like it but ja he’s a ss and to be fair if Trae who has went to a conference finals was traded for a bag of chips mem shouldn’t be asking for the far for a player who hasn’t played and has been suspended before.

Big_guy305

Reply to  Reality Czech

Just cuz they want a good young player’s and picks doesn’t mean they will get them. Ja is a stressed asset like Trae, and Trae went for just CJ and kispert. I don’t think ja will go for that low, but he will be closed to that range. A Headcase that bring drama surrounding him with gun violence/fake gangster tough guy, plus he isn’t playing well, shooting way below average from 3, not that good on D. Also injury prone and he also disgruntled got 1 coach fired, and doesn’t like the offense that new one is running, which happens to be similar to the offense we’re running, since we got a ex grizzly coach helping us implement it. I would go for ja, but no need to give up ware, and Jaquez. I would give them herro with anyone of fonzi or rozier or both , since they both expiring. And let them choose between a young player( jovic) or a pick.

Well, here’s something that should p*ss off everyone here (one of those rare issues we all seem to agree on). Spo had Herro starting on his submitted lineup card for last night’s game, with Ware moved to the bench! For those that think I agree with Spo on everything? I definitely do not! I think that type of lineup change is ridiculous. The only logical explanation is to showcase him for a trade.

His athleticism is not what it was after injuries and as you have often said, coaching doesn’t matter. Dude can’t shoot a 3 to save his life. Memphis should be giving Miami the pick for taking him and his salary off their hands, not the other way around.

Mo Mamba was released by Toronto on January 6, 2026. Should Miami consider signing him to a 10 day contract.

Age: 27 (DOB 5/12/98)
Ht: 7’0
Wt: 231

2024-2025 STATS (combined between Clippers and Pelicans).

MPG: 12.9
PPG: 6.2
RPG: 4.3
3 PT%: .278 (Career .356)

Why do it?

He comes cheap. He fills a need (temporarily) until a better option comes along. He has 7 years NBA experience. He shoots 3’sHe gives Bam and Ware a few extra minutes of rest each half.He may possibly be another reclamation project who, for some reason, performs better playing for the Heat than any other team.he’s near hfl’s former neck of the woods (Harlem).

That was a great game. Some games it truly is sad one team has to lose. Just gonna give Chambliss his props because that Hail Mary pass was almost a perfect pass. We were having complaints about the refs thruout the game, but on the biggest play they evened things up. In essence, we are a great team and we beat another one. Now, maybe we have to play an even better one.
What a year! The college football national championship, or what the cool kids call the natty, might be one of the most exciting championships of all to win with the twelve team format. It’s so nice to be able to say after 23 years, the U is back, it’s all about the U!
