Bam Adebayo wins Player of the Week after historic performance

Six days ago, our jaws dropped beneath Earth’s crust after witnessing greatness with Bam Adebayo surpassing Kobe Bryant’s 81-point feat, scoring 83, the second-most in a single game in NBA History.

It didn’t matter what he did the rest of the week: As expected, Miami Heat center Bam Adebayo earned the Eastern Conference’s Player of the Week award, the league announced Monday.

You could name 83 reasons why he won, too.

Including his 83-point surge, Adebayo has scored 20-plus points in nine-straight games and in 12 of his last 15. He’s coming for your record, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander! Beware!

Across three games, Adebayo averaged 41.3 points, 8.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 2.3 steals and 1.3 blocks per game. Though in his final two games against Milwaukee and Orlando, the Heat’s three-time All-Star, understandably, looked a little worn down. He combined to shoot just 12-of-35 from the floor and 2-of-12 from 3-point range.

This is Adebayo’s fourth career Player of the Week award, including his second of the season. This also marks the second-straight week where a Heat player has taken home the award, with Tyler Herro earning the Player of the Week last week.

To this point, it’s amazing to see how Adebayo’s offensive game has continued to develop. We discussed ad nauseam as to how we feel his defense still flies under people’s noses, but this last week really shed light on the growth he’s made offensively, highlighted by his historic performance.

Congratulations Bam! You are the one who holds it all together. If Miami could just harpoon a whale this summer, they might do something big in 2026-2027. Otherwise, it is going to be tough.

Meanwhile, as long as I see the guys giving all they have and having fun doing it, I’m OK with it. I particularly enjoy watching the younger players as they develop.

These next 6 games should reveal exactly what we can expect from Miami in the postseason. 3-3 won’t cut it if the Heat has any hope of avoiding the play-in round.

GO HEAT!!!

P.S. The benefit of these last few weeks is that it should help to clarify which players Miami needs to keep, trade or allow to walk away as free agents.

I just watched the LAL-Houston game. Houston had a really fun team last year. This year, its KD and a bunch of spare parts. If KD chokes, his team chokes.

A typical KD team. I m glad he is not in Miami.

Well, Luka in Slovenia, because he is a Slovenian, and Jokic and Djokovic in Serbia, because they are Serbs. Among others, Luka is more popular then the other two, not because he is better; Serbs are local troublemakers and hence generally unpopular.

World wide, Luka is a global star.. as Djokovic… Jokic not that much, because of his personality.

Among Slovenians athletes, I would say Luka is barely crack top 5 in popularity. Top cyclists and members of Prevc family (among 5 kids, 4 won Olympic medals in ski jumping) comes before, and maybe Goran too.

Tennis is not really popular around here, despite back in 70s we have an elite tennis player named Mima Jauševec, which won French open, and reached US open semifinals.

Wait, are you saying KD doesn’t make players around him better? The player that you criticized Riley about for failing to get him? I don’t disagree. He is a little Harden-ish. His only championship was when he joined a stacked dynasty. Every other stop he’s made has resulted in nothing – so far.
