The Miami Heat are heading into week 2 of this new Giannis Antetokounmpo-led 2026-27 campaign— yet remain winless.
They are one of four teams in the Eastern Conference that have gotten off to an 0-3 start. Off the back of a terrific Davion Mitchell performance in Miami’s last game versus the Charlotte Hornets, the Heat played better but still fell short of a furious fourth quarter comeback.
For tonight, the Heat will be back inside the Kaseya Center to host the visiting Dallas Mavericks. Dallas is currently at a 1-2 record, with Cooper Flagg listed as questionable after suffering a shoulder injury. Kyrie Irving is expected to be available.
Miami has nobody listed on the injury report, but instead will have to attempt to overcome internal growing pains in hopes to secure their first win of the Giannis era. The problem thus far is that the Heat look like a team filled with a bunch of new pieces that just aren’t comfortable playing together yet. The offense has been clunky, the defense and rebounding have been a disaster… and each Bam Adebayo and Antetokounmpo have dealt with foul trouble in the last two games.
Can tonight be the night that this new-look Heat team shows signs of life and temporarily quiet the media discourse?
