The Miami Heat could not ride the momentum built from Wednesday’s night thrilling victory, while the Golden State Warriors did from their previous five games.
The Warriors extended their win streak to six, earning a 120-100 win over the Heat Thursday night inside Chase Center.
Tied at 53 at halftime, the Warriors awoke in the second half behind an outstanding third quarter from superstar guard Stephen Curry, who was limited to just seven points on 2-of-10 shooting before the break. Curry scored 14 of his 29 in the third alone, shooting 9-of-19 from the floor and 6-of-12 from beyond the arc.
The biggest story was how Golden State held Giannis Antetokounmpo in check, however. The Heat superstar was limited to just four points in the second half. Draymond Green and Al Horford kept Antetokounmpo guessing — with Golden State playing its gaps exceptionally well — as the Greek Freak settled for several pull-up jumpers. He attempted just five of his 13 shots in the paint, an unusually low number for the 10-time All-Star.
Antetokounmpo finished with 20 points and 14 rebounds on 7-of-13 shooting with one made three (on five attempts). Davion Mitchell finished with a team-high 22 points, although 16 of those points came in the final period.
The Warriors bench also crushed Miami, nearly doubling them up (53-27). Pelle Larsson had 13 points despite an extremely poor game from him as a decision-maker. Ryan Conwell tallied a career-high 13 points on 4-of-9 shooting off the bench. Meanwhile, Golden State’s Georges Niang, Brandon Williams, Gary Payton II and Charles Bassey all gave the Warriors a huge boost, while the entire Warriors’ starting 5 provided a strong impact at different points. Draymond Green had a season-high 11 assists in the winning effort.
Miami drops to 3-6 on the season, while the Warriors improve to 6-3.

Things not looking good. There are times Bam and Giannis do not get back quickly on defense. It’s good that Spo is utilizing Conwell. The 3 guard combo with Mitchell and Pelle works pretty well. But when you are struggling against decent teams, why not try something different? No Gardner, Richards, Keshad for any meaningful minutes whatsoever! Portis, Hardaway, Wiggins, and Jovic have all been bad.
